I beat seasons when i was like 8 or 9, now im 14 and i'm barely half way through ages. I gotta say time traveling and doing things in the past is a lot harder than changing the weather. Seasons though was definately a fun and game and so is age and the ring additions are pretty cool.
Difficuly- by far is ages
fun-both of them are great, ill tell when i finish ages

I liked them both, but I like Ages more-so than Seasons, because I'm a softy for time-based games, I suppose. And because it had to do with past and present, it had a deeper storyline, which is to be expected.

I loved both the games, beat them both when I was 13. I beat Ages first, and Seasons second. These are the two games that are really under-rated the most, I think. Ages is focused more on puzzle-solving, and using your head to complete the game. Seasons is focused more on fighting your way to the end, using your weapons to get to the end. I thought they were both great :)

I prefer Seasons, although I like both games. I felt that Seasons had more places to explore and was just more fun in general. A lot of the Ages puzzles were rather dull, especially the ones where you just had to put different coloured blocks or tiles in the correct arrangement. Some were cool, like when you're on the island and have to get all your stuff back from the tokays one at a time.

I prefer Oracle of Ages because I don't have to keep track of 4 seasons there

They are both pretty good. But if I had to pick I'd say Seasons. If not just because it doesn't have the Graceful Goron dance. I hate it so.

I luved both but i only beat ages and im only half way through seasons. I like the seasons more because it just seemed rlly cool and it was the only zelda game to use seasons while time was used in Oot and somewat in MM (the days)

I prefer Ages... it's harder, has time travel, and Veran's cool:)
Seasons is more colorful, but i like the decadent look that the past in ages has.
But i really like the Concept on both, and linking them to a slightly different game is awsome

If I went on I would have to make a two-page reply though, so for your sake I won't go on.

I made the mistake of trading my Ages game to get seasons. Now I realize that I like ages more.
I haven't beaten either of the games yet, but I started off with the first dungeon of Ages and thought "eh, it's pretty okay I guess". Then I went to Seasons and said "yes, this is way better". But then... I tried playing Ages again. I got a few dungeons further into it and it became so addictive. It's way better than Seasons.
I think part of the reason I like Ages so much is that the puzzles are so good. They're not your typical Zelda fare - and anything that could relate to a normal Zelda puzzle has been modified to the point that it's truly a puzzle (such as how "push block onto switch" became "push multi-colored block onto switch with the same color as the side that faces up"). I've gotten stuck on that game because the puzzles really made me think. Only Master Quest has given me this sort of trouble, and Master Quest most of the time isn't even based on logic, so.

Now that I'm finally getting around to playing Seasons, I can post here.
So far, I think I like Ages more. It had harder puzzles, more original bosses (as Seasons was just reusing bosses from LoZ), and just.. better. Traveling through time is better than changing the seasons; going back 200 or so years makes everything a lot different, but just changing the season to say, Fall, and not much really changes.
So yeah, Ages > Seasons. Which isn't to say that Seasons isn't a great game.

Buy them both, they are really cheap, nowadays. and it's zelda, it deserves every buck you can spend.
I own them both:) And yeah, the mermaid's double dungeon rocks my world

I bought both WAY back in the day, and loved both of them. Though I seem to have lost Seasons :/.
But, if I had to pick one over the other it would probably be... Ages. But only barely. I really liked them both, so it's pretty hard to choose. In general, Ages is designed more towards the puzzle-loving Zelda fan, while Seasons is aimed at the combat-loving Zelda fan. Personally I like both, but I loved the time travel in OoA.
Both games are incredible and highly under-rated.

Well, I have hardly any money, and I doubt I can afford both of them.
I think I'm leaning towards Ages.

Buy them used at ebay or so... you should be able to get them both for 10 dollars or so... and yes, I would also go with ages, if I was you
Orcale of ages has a wayyy better storyline. Season just puts you right in the middle of it. But Seasons is a little bit harder.

Although I love both games I have a personal bias here. D; I'd rather play a steady paced game than one where I have to work my way threw tough spots, one after another, which I felt I was doing constantly in Ages.
Seasons, I actually rented when it first came out (I'm sure some of you remember the GB rental phase blockbuster went threw) and it was like reading a good book: I just couldn't put it down! In fact I found it very hard to return it.. ;.; When I got ages, I was constantly pulling out my players guide which is a bit inconvenient when your playing a "portable" game. D: and even then, I get stuck far too often for my taste.
And I too like the Seasons story a bit more, more likely because it was the first one I played. ^^; Plus the Rod of Seasons is awesome to play with. <3

This post makes no sense. I understand how you (and others) can prefer OoA but as I see it the two games are far too similar storywise and regarding dungeons for anyone to say that one is crap and the other is good. But I guess you never said that OoA is good? Only that you think it is better.

That post was total spam crap!
Anyways, I really like themboth, and yes, storyline they're very similar, the only thing that makes me choose is the fact that OoA has better puzzles.
But I like to think of them as one big two-part game

I prefer Oracle of Ages. I don't really know why, I just think that OoA has a much more deeper story line than that of OoS. I also thought changing time periods was more interesting than changing the seasons. Don't get me wrong though, they are both great games to play and I have lots of memories (good and bad) of playing these games.

I'm 100% agree with you there (minus using the guide for OoA). I think OoA was much harder, but it felt sort of incomplete. OoS seemed to have better characters, more colors, and a more enjoyable, fun atmosphere. Also, I think that Ages took too much from OoT (with the time traveling and such), whereas Seasons felt more unique. I also enjoyed Season's storyline better, not to mention that Onox was waaay cooler than Veran.
In the end, I think that they're both great games. It's just that one of them is slightly better. The Oracle games are two of my favorite games. It makes me sad that Mystical Seed of Courage (http://www.zeldawiki.org/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Mystical_Seed_of_Courage) was never released.

I have only played OoA, so I'm not very sure about wich is better, but I really enjoyed playing it. The puzzles were hard for me, to the point that my bro helped me a couple times, and I still hope to see the complete story one day.

I haven't played all the way through OoA, but I'm working on it, and from what I've played, I like. I've played through OoS, and I loved it. Both of them are near equal. I do like, though, that there are 4 Seasons in OoS, compared to 2 time periods in OoA. From what I've gathered, OoS is more focused on fighting and OoA is more focused on puzzles. While I like both, as they are the main feature of the Zelda series, I'm kind of more of that fighting type of guy, as far as Zelda games though, while puzzles can be real entertaining too. I can't really know until I finish OoA, but for now, OoS wins.

I bought both games at the same time about a year and a half ago, and I decided to play OoA before OoS.
When I compare them, I always see OoA coming out ahead by just a little. In OoA, the overworld was easy for me to remember, I could stop playing for weeks, come back, and imeaditately know where I was in relation to the game world. In OoS however I was always looking at the map because I kept getting lost! I guess it was because I had played OoA first and I was mixing up Labrynna and Holodrum. >.>
For the most part I enjoyed the OoS boss fights more than the OoA ones, and I enjoyed most of the OoA dungeons more than the OoS ones. Also, I found the plot of Ages slightly more interesting than that of OoS. Overall Oracle of Ages is my favorite of the two. Though they are both excellent games.

Oracle of Ages. The Dungeons are fun. I haven't beat it yet, but so far it's shaping up to be better than OoS.

Ages was the first Zelda game i ever beat (thought not the first i played) so it has a special place in my heart. i found the whole changing the seasons thing pretty annoying at times when you had to be at a specific tree stump to get it right. and overall i really enjoyed playing ages while seasons was more of well i played this one might as well play the next one. it was still tons of fun, but i just enjoyed ages more overall.
...maybe its because i like blue better than red....nah lol

There really is not to much difference in these games except for the characters and the setting.
I am not amazing at these two parts of the Zelda series so I am again saying my opinion. If I had to chose I like oracle of seasons better because seasons is the present in Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. And Ages is past and present in one season.

Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages gave place I feel deeply about. In Oracle of Seasons it was a adventure type of game and in which I LOVED, I mean that's what Zelda is about, Isn't it?
Oracle of Ages was some other place. In the beginning I loved it, simple puzzles, just like Oracle of Seasons. Until I got to Dungeon 4 I loved it. Over all I think Oracle of Seasons is a better game due to the fact that it is more like the other Zelda games.
The conclusion is.
Oracle of Seasons: Adventure Type of Game
Oracle of Ages: Puzzle Type of Game

Ages has a lot of nostalgia-like that reminds of ALttP, also, i think that the overall story is better.
I mean, c'mon, going to the past and becoming a ruler there so you can be veneered as an absolute ruler on the present?
It's awesome

Seasons. Simply because it was more enjoyable, and the final form of Onyx kicked /ss.
I'm half way through Ages now, and darn how I loath it. I guess I'm just not that much of a stuck-on-a-puzzle-for-days person. The storyline is deeper, but I hate the fact that some of the "minigames" must be completed in order to advance- that just takes away all the enjoyment/distraction factor for me. Gah, it's just not fun at times: it's darn nearly impossible.
But I will still carry on trying :3 Just don't expect me to love doing it xDD

I've beaten both, and they are near the top of my favourites list of the Zelda series.
I don't prefer one over the other though, as if they are linked up, rather than being two stories, it's more of one big story. And I prefer the whole story over liking either half of the story more.

I'm pretty far into both of those games, and LA, too, and I've got to say that they're up there on my favorites list, for sure. But, I can't decide which one I like best, they are both fun in their own ways.
