Our constant clash continues, with the theme of WWI

Vote for the sig you see as looking best and being most relevant to the theme. Enjoy.

I voted for Jo's.
Sword of faith's is really cool and I think I would've voted for it had it not been for the strange background.
I like the shilloette thing, but I just the background should be substituted with a photograph or something.
Both are really cool and I really appriciate the quotes(?) on both of them and I really like the non box shape of Sword's

Well, my sig has a brush-drawn Canadian flag in it, as a tribute to John McCrae, who wrote the poem. Its Flanders fields, but the shape also symbolizes Vimy Ridge. Clever, ain't it?

I'm sorry, I'm just really not feeling yours, Sword of Faith. In concept, it's pretty cool... but I don't think the way you've executed it really works. The shape's creative, and the composition of elements is fine (it looks nice and balanced)... but the translucent silhouette ends up looking cheap because of the thick black line behind it, and the bright red text on "the poppies grow" is too harsh, and it doesn't stand out enough from the background. The background/colours are okay... but I think it might've worked better with a real image, as TheGreen said. That said, it's a clever idea and it represents the theme really well... I just don't think it works as well as it could XD
So I'm gonna have to choose Baysiderulez's sig... I just think it works a lot better :\
It makes good use of imagery, colour, and text... and I'm loving the layered effect, it reminds me of a really tidy collage made from old magazines XD The sentence is broken up in kind of an odd way though, but it would've thrown off the balance and looked strange had you done it any other way XDD
So yeah. (I hope I didn't sound too harsh there ._.)

I really think Jo's is a lot better. I like the background that it has to it, the nearly transparent people and the nature in the background and then the render. The text works really nicely, the colors work well as well, and I just happen to love it.
Sword of Faith... I'm not really hating yours, but I'm not really liking it, either. The text is a definite turn off, that's immediate. I can hardly read whatever font it's in. It works nicely but you want it to be more readable. Some fonts just don't work well. I like the render, and I love the way you made the sig with the render coming out of the top and changed the shape around from what the usual is, but I'm not a big fan of the background. You said that it had the Canadian flag in it, and I actually come to dislike the background even more because I can't even tell where it is, but I know it's supposed to be there. If I know that something should be there and I can't tell... that's a turn off.

I'm saying this right now. I love both of them! I chose BSR's because of the background and art she chose. There's something abou that red that really makes the Signature atractive. The images she chose fit and made it real and a great Tribute to the Red Cross. The text also fit the main Illustration of a Red Cross worker. The RC worker was sort of showing her hands. The font works with the Signature too. It's not to fancy yet it's just perfect.

I voted for Sword of Faith this time, because I like the font "Dark Crystal Outline". The color scheme he used is pretty neat and reminds me of oil pastel smudges.
But Baysider's is also pretty good. I like the dark red cherry blossoms in the background. It adds a nice touch. Also, hers is a bit more busy--not sure if that's good or bad...
But I still will go with Sword of Faith's because the render is smoother and cleaner. It was very close this time.

Bayside does rule, today. ;)
Bayside's image seemed much more positive, showing the beauty of dedication to serving the injured, rather than just the ugliness of death and darkness.
Also, Bayside's image seemed more aesthetically pleasing, with pictures of human beings, larger texts, and richer backgrounds.

Thank you all for your comments and critique's it really helps us know what we are doing well and what we need to work on as artists. And no, none of you sound to Harsh...
I voted for Rafi, I thought his background was clever. and after some looking I did manage to find the flag. I thought his brushing of his own grass was good and creative. I also do like the shape of it. :)
As for a little explanation of mine- While I see rafi really wanted to keep to his roots by doing a Canadian representation of WWI, I was trying to do the same from a woman's perspective. The Red Cross was a great way for women to get involved, and yes. That is a quote, that was the American Red Cross's slogan, sometime during the past couple centuries. The image actually came from the 'third calling' of the red cross, which I am not sure is from WWI or later, but the Red cross was founded during the time period of WWI. So yeah.
On another note, I love my competitions with Rafi, this is the 5th or 6th one we've done against each other, on various different sites, but he always challenges me to one up my last sig.

They both kind of scare me. Rafi's has blood and Jo's has... nurses. ... They both freak me out. 0.0
On the other hand, you guys did really good on these banners. They look so pretty. <3

I want you to take a closer look... its subtle, but look at the red 'blood stains' the two side panels, and then in the center is a red maple leaf... its subtle but its definitely there.... at a first glance it just looks like blood on the ground...

Both of these sigs look pretty nice. It's hard to pick, indeed.
SoF, I love how you made the background. I also love how you have the silhouette of the soldier sticking up from the sig. I think it looks pretty cool. I also like the "In Flander's Fields The Poppies Grow."
Jo, I love how the background goes well with the theme. The kids in the background.. I love how they're transparent. You did a great job on that. The "Keep These Hands of Mercy at Work" text goes great with it, too.
Awesome job on the sigs, both of you! =) After looking at them for a while I'll have to pick... Jo's sig. :3
