Recently got Photoshop, and really want to show off these sigs. I of course can't use them all at once, so I'll just post here for you all to admire and comment on...

First of all...

I'd like to let you all know that I am open for requests, and will be happy to accept them. This is on one condition, however.

Recently the points system was introduced, and each signature will cost 100 points, and each avatar will cost 30 points. I also take a variety of other graphics requests and the points cost will be determined upon your request of that item. To send the points for the image go to the Market tab at the top of the forum and click "Market". Click "Other Users" on the left menu and then click "Donate to Another User". Enter the amount of points you are donating, the reason, and my username (Kybyrian) and then click "Purchase With Points" to complete the transaction. Please donate the points ahead of time so I can provide you with the signature the moment I get it done.

Those "tech" sigs are pretty cool. I'm not sure if that signifies that you're part of a club or something, but its cool either way.

The stars were added in by me. It was all done from scratch, aside from the render, that is. Arceus is the only picture that I added in there.

Yeah, what are those tech sigs for, anyway? They look really cool, and there some of the best sigs I've every seen. Do you have to have some "right" to use one? Why is Zenox your apprentice?

It's just a thing that went around Zenox, Durion, and me. We all got Photoshop and started making signatures. My Tech Sig came first, and then Zenox made his tech sig. He made his saying "Tech Apprentice" and "Master: Kybyrian" so I added "Apprentice: Zenox" to mine for kicks. Durion's just a lonely Tech Warrior. :P

So no, you don't have to have some "right" to use a tech sig, we just all three made one and started using them.

I experimented with some clipping masks and different brushes/filter effects this time and think it turned out rather well.

That's actually one of my favorite fonts, and it's called Visitor. You can download it from somewhere like http://dafont.com/ , which is a really good site for fonts if you didn't already know that. It comes in TT1 and TT2, you will be downloading both more than likely. I'm pretty sure they come together, though I suppose it depends on where you download it from. It's best used in a size 10 for the larger one and size 12 for the smaller one. The only difference between TT1 and TT2 is one is smaller and the other is larger.

Here is my newest piece that I made while I was bored. I tried a variety of new techniques with this one. I messed around with layer filters to get what you see in the middle and used my awesome new brushes on the left side. I also overlayed some gradient maps and hue/saturation adjustment layers over the top of a few things. Then the oh-so-great clipping mask for the text. I really like how it turned out.

I can go ahead and try to make a few more tutorials if you would like me to. In the tutorial I last created I use the technique that I used in there for most of my signatures, but I do switch it around a little bit with a few of my signatures.

A rainbow-like effect. Kinda like Psychedelic rainbow, but the colors get brighter and explodes in texture as it spreads, kinda like your Sig, except from the center and it spreads outward. If that does not work for you, then how about Black and blue, with textures exploding and dimming in the center.
(Make the image smaller, to fit it to the signature. Remove the background of each picture, leaving only the character with the effects if possible.)

EDIT: I almost didn't even do the signature... I was almost done with it, about to do the text, and then "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working" and closed the program. I had to redo the entire thing, but I got it done. :) The renders are arranged similarly to how Hero of Music did it, but really there's not many options when you have so many renders.

I HATE it when Photoshop closes. Sometimes it just randomly closes especially when I'm working on something important. I'm glad that you were able to get it done though. It looks pretty great. And I agree, more than two renders just makes it hard to do stuff in a signature. I prefer one (or two if i've got a cool idea) render with a bunch of cool effects with no text (except for my user name or initials)

No liquify. :) It's a C4D, a rather straight one, in fact. I think the "liquified" effect comes from the background being blurred.

Messing around with C4Ds and stuff again.

I started using fractals. This is my first sig experimenting with them. 2 C4Ds and 2 fractals. Turned out very nice.

For the Monster one (top of my most recent post) I cut out the edge of the sig that is the border onto a new layer and set it to Linear Burn with a soft black dot overlay.

For the bottom two in the post before that I stroked with alternating black & white (white in the middle of two 1px black lines) on the edge and set it to overlay/soft light.

I think a more appropriate comment would be "...that Photoshop can help people to make better graphics."

That would be like saying anyone with a paintbrush could paint like Michelangelo. Paintbrushes don't automatically make someone a painter any more than Photoshop makes someone a graphic designer. It's just software; a person still has to posses some talent and at least a modicum of design sense to use it.

No sir. Let's use Ky as an example here, since we're jacking his thread. He used to make signature images in gimp, which honestly, is not so great, and they always ended up looking... not good. That is because gimp lacks the luxury features that Photoshop has. Sure, great work can be done with gimp, but it sure isn't easy, or worth the time. What I'm saying is, that Photoshop is so rich, that it allows you to become advanced at a very quick pace. Which in layman's terms, means some magic force.

How old did you say you were? 52, was it? I'm 20. Of course we're going to have different opinions. Now let us end this here before it becomes heated.

It does, really. Photoshop provides easy-to-use tools, menus, and some features that are not available in programs such as GIMP. Photoshop is very organized and easy to get used to. With a program like GIMP you have to do a lot of studying to learn how the program works. A program like GIMP can make signatures that are just as good as ones in Photoshop, but Photoshop is a lot more luxurious and definitely has an advantage over GIMP. I also believe that Photoshop does some things better, such as the layer modes and various filters. It's very convenient having a lot of options lying out in front of you for your easy use. You can locate and do what you want very easily, and all it takes is a bit of practice until you get familiar with things.

I will confess that my GIMP signatures would have been a lot better if I would have used some effects, though. I was a complete noob at any sort of graphic design. I didn't use filters, brushes, layer modes, etc. at all. This is mainly because I didn't even know where to find such things with GIMP being so confusing. GIMP is a good program, just not as user-friendly or well-designed as Photoshop.
