Since apparently no one ever comments on the "movies" sub-forum, I'm making a new version of this thread out here. If this is against the rules, feel free to delete my thread or tell an administrator or whatever. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides? Here is a link to the Wikipedia (http://zeldadungeon.net/forum/#) article so you can read more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates...Stranger_Tides (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean:_On_Stranger_Tides)
Personally, I don't like the idea of this movie (http://zeldadungeon.net/forum/#) being based on some book. I like movies based on books, but you can't start out with an original movie series (http://zeldadungeon.net/forum/#) and then later base one of them off of a book, especially a book that has nothing to do with the series. I am, however, interested to see the continuing adventures of Jack and Barbossa, and see how that all plays out. So what do you think? Will you watch it? Skip it? Are you looking forward to it?

Woot! I can't wait! Good to see another Pirates of the Caribbean fan here. I was pretty disappointed when I first heard that it would be based on a book too (especially since I've already read that book), but look here. V
The script was written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, who wrote the entire Pirates trilogy, and Rossio has stated that they will use elements from the novel, particularly Blackbeard and the Fountain of Youth, but the film would not be a straight adaptation.
From the wiki article.
And I can tell you that what I've read about this movie so far sounds nothing like the book, so that's good.

Technically it's impossible for this film to be much of a straight adaptation, since they are building on the previous three movies, and they aren't using the books main character. I just hope they use as little of the book as possible, I mean their writers came up with such great original material before that they shouldn't be using a book. And did anyone notice my listed location underneath my screen name?
I'm dissapointed that we won't be able to see more from Will Turner in this film as the new captain of the Dutchman, but then I suppose he will be busy ferrying souls across the sea, even then it would be nice for him to have a cameo role!
I think it will be an interesting release, however I strongly feel that it will pale in comparison to the earlier films.

Excellent. I loved the series, and I'm glad they're going to make another one.
It was kinda predictable that Will and Elizabeth wouldn't be in it. Their story is pretty much over now, and there really wasn't any room for them to come back at the end of the third one.
But of course Jack was going to come back. He's the reason we all watch it anyway right? Plus, unlike Wii and Elizabeth, the story was left WIDE OPEN for a continuation as far as Jack and Barbossa went.
This should be great. Just keep Depp as Jack and Rush as Barbossa and everything'll be fine. :P

Intresting. But I am scared it might ruin it cause I loved the romance (but mostly the action ^.^) but I will go see it anyway!

I thought the movies got progressively worse. I loved the first one, liked the second, didn't care to sit up and watch the whole third one. I think Hollywood is just trying to get some more moola from an already-concluded series.

I think I heard that the next film was going to be all about Jack Sparrow and events in his life leading up to the first Pirates movie. I dunno maby I heard wrong. But if I am correct, that would make Pirates 4 a prequel.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think three is way better than two and almost as good, if not better than, the first one. Care to tell me what you didn't like about the third one?

I can't wait to see this movie, I enjoyed watching the other three and I just hope it turns out good. Pirate movies never get old for me, I love Master and Commander, not that it is a pirate movie, but close to that since they do mention piracy there. ^^

I see your point, all where good, but as the story progressed they seemed to lose their UMPH if you will. I like them all but don't think I have never watched the third one all the way through.

How can you say you liked the third one if you've never even seen all of it? And don't say it's too long because I've got six words for you: Lord of the Rings Extended Editions.

I actually agree with Hannah, that's the same way I feel. Although, I think they're all excellent, each one is just slightly less impressive than the last, IMO. But now that that trilogy is tied up, this one might be something fresh.
On the subject of characters not returning, I heard that the guy that played Ragetti isn't returning either (for those of you that don't know, Ragetti was the comic relief guy with the wooden eye). This is really disappointing for me, he was one of my favorite characters =(.

Awesome. I was hoping they'd continue, and I can't believe I never searched to see if they were making another. I actually just watched all three of them pretty recently. I've been watching lots of movies that I've already seen recently actually... But I don't want to go off topic.
I don't like the fact that Will and Elizabeth won't be part of the story, but it's okay, a continuation of Jack and Barbossa's story will be interesting and the implementation of Blackbeard will also add to that interesting. We all knew that Jack was the main character from the beginning of the whole story anyway, and we all knew that he'd go on in the story as long as it continued. I can't wait until more details come forth about it, and I also can't wait 'till it comes out.
