who all likes minsh cap? well for me it's one of my top 5 favorite legend of zelda games. i can almost beat it but on the second stage of vatti i always run out of arrows because i only have 30. and in the guide book if you look it says your suppose to have 100 (or 99). so i'm not sure at all where i'm i suppose to get all 100 arrows if i only have 30?

MC is an awesome game, with plenty of side-quests to make up for the short storyline. Kinstone fusing was a great idea. It's kind of like the treasure charts in WW and PH.

I really liked it, but then again, I really like all Zelda games. I still can't decide how it compares to the others, but I have to say I really loved that it had elements from the 3D games like rolling and special sword moves worked nicely into the 2D world.
To Majora king about the arrow thing: I also went into the final boss fight with only 30 arrows and don't know where to get more, but you can still get through if you hit the little smokey cloud things he shoots out at you with your sword. They often give you arrows when you take em out. It also gets them out of your way and makes the fight a little less treacherous.

I liked it, although it was a tad short. I'd say it needed improvement in that sense, but the keystone sidequests helped that out a lot.
In the end, it was a great game from Nintendo.

Yea i liked it. but it was short.
I never knew there was a quiver upgrade.
I beat it with 30 easyly (the things he shots out have more arrows in them)

Ok. I guess I have learned from my mistakes, not to make statements to early! I have got about halfway through the game now (I guess) and I am really starting to like it, I think I am actually starting to love it, kind of reminds me of Alttp somehow! One thing that makes me really happy is that now I know that there is no "black sheep" in the "official" zelda series, YES!!!

yeah i really enjoyed playing minish cap, it gave me that Alltp feel a little.
the game itself was quite small. the sidekick Ezlo is awsome, man his comments cracks me up. "Link your hair is like a birdsnest, luckly i'm on your head, must look good for the ladies" :xd:
also that you learn swordskills in the game is also kinda cool.
only annoying part was you only had 2 buttons to equip items, now it may be not that kind of a big of a deal, but at least in alltp you always had your shield equiped and the pegasus boots was actually standard equiment and not an item.
on my first try i fogot the light arrow upgrade, it kinda sucks thats you have to fuse kingstone with somebody before you clear the last temple or else you can 't get the upgrade anymore.
and one other thing i didn 't get is, they left out 1 bomb bag upgrade in the PAL version of the game. weird.

Well... as a game, it was great, but as a Zelda game, I found it somewhat lacking. The overworld was too generic and boring for me, and the big/small gimmick lost its magic too soon.
On the upside, I thought the dungeons were very well made.

Minish Cap is great, I personally love the over world and find the dungeons boring. The only thing if find annoying is the kin stone fusion, Because Ill get my hopes up saying "ah yes a new item" or "yay now i get to get a heart piece" (Or something else fun in the game) And then i find out one of the steps in the chapter or getting an item is kin stone fusion then i don't want to play the game at all, lol.

I'm still working on beating it. Not because I can't, but because it bores me so much that I usually just find something else to do. So far, its definitely not one of my favorite Zeldas. Maybe after I beat it I may change my mind, but if it can't even hold my attention long enough to get to that point, I don't know if that will end up happening.

The Minish Cap was the first Zelda game I've ever played and beaten, and I think the game was fun. But it isn't one of my favorites, because I think the game overall was quite simple and lacked a lot of the classic puzzles that other Zelda games have had.
The only downfall was fusing all the kinestones, that was probably the one thing I disliked the most. I could never fuse every single one, I always missed somebody which drove me absolutely bonkers.

Yes, Lenny, it's a simpler, easier Zelda, maybe it was aimed for more juvenile audiences... Still it has some good bosses, a bunch of new items, an awsome side kick and a cool final boss

I beat the game today, finally. My perception changed a bit, not by much though. It still remains one of my least favorite Zelda titles. For me, the game got too confusing at points. There isn't a whole lot of direction in the game, so you basically have to go to a certain spot which you aren't exactly sure is right, then make Ezlo tell you something to trigger an event of what to do next. Sure, this sounds like most Zelda's, but in MC it was worse because you don't really know where to go half the time.

I never had that problem, of course it thoughens up for you cause you were already thinking from the beggining that the game was crappy. Also, having lots of stuff wich you can possibly do between dungeons is awesome, like a breath of fresh air... If you wanna relax from dungeon-tripping, go fuse some kinstones, or go get some tiger scrolls, etc etc etc, i love it

You know, now that you mention it, the Minish Cap is probably one of the insanely tiny amount of games from the Legend of Zelda series that will not have a random desire to play anytime soon. There have been games where as soon as I beat it, I'd love to play again - but to me, it was just so simple that it really has no challenges that make it undesirable and lacking concerning replay value.

Some of you may know that recently I bought and played Minish Cap, and I've just beaten it. I enjoyed it very much, and it made me start thinking.
Is this possibly one of the best of the recent Zelda games? Keep in mind I'm not thinking of the N64 games as recent.
It takes the classic Zelda gameplay formula (well, more or less, it changes it a little for the overhead perspective, but it's mostly the same as the 3D games) like most of the games do. But it added great new elements, particularly the shrinking, to make it very unique. Then there was the whole Kinstone system, which was fresh, unique, and fun, IMO. And it was the first Zelda game to incorporate the idea of learning various sword skills (at least other than the Spin Attack, which is learned in most of the games.)
The items were great, too. You had all the classic Zelda "staples," such as the Bow, Bombs and Boomerang, but they added tons of great, unique new items like the Gust Jar, plus creative spins on older items, like the Flame Lantern and Mole Mitts.
The game was also well designed. Nice sidequests between dungeons, and secrets to find. The dungeons themselves were well designed and unique, offering tricky design. A good example is giving you the Boss Key early on in some dungeons, particularly the Temple of Droplets and Palace of Winds. Unique and interesting. Plenty of it kept you on your toes.
And then there was the bosses, which I also thought were great and well designed. They had interesting weaknesses and attacks, and I felt they were more challenging than most other recent Zelda games' bosses were. Vaati especially, but the other bosses too.
It's biggest fault was perhaps it's length (six dungeons is a pretty small Zelda game.)
Bottom line is... I think the game managed to be more unique and well-designed than all the other recent Zelda games. It also managed to throw in a little more challenge, which I think has been the big thing the series has been lacking.
So what are your guys' thoughts on this? Is it just my opinion of the game, or do you think I might be right, to a degree at least?

No I hated playing MC. I had to actually make myself beat the game. I started playing it once, then quit for a long time after getting completely bored with it. When I started back, I didn't know where I was or where to go because I was so uninterested in playing it before. But, it is a Zelda game, so I finally ended up beating it. Definitely not one of the best newer titles though in my opinion. I'd probably play it over Phantom Hourglass, and that's about it.

No, most certainly not. It's definitely not one of my favorite Zelda titles, and there are many other Game Boy Advance titles I would rather play. I didn't "hate" it, and it was a fairly entertaining game, but I feel like it could have done much better. On my "Modern Zelda" favorites list, I'm afraid that the only game Minish Cap beats is Phantom Hourglass, which was a pretty bad game in every aspect. There's no way I would ever prefer to play MC over, say, Twilight Princess. I also felt like it didn't do the past Zelda hand held titles justice. I enjoyed both Oracles and Link's Awakening much more actually.

Exactly. Maybe that was what made me dislike it so much. There is another thread here about "missing the old graphics", but pertains to the 64 bit games. I can say that I would love it if they made a new handheld title using the engine and graphics from the Oracles. Of course, storyline would have to be a factor, but I just feel that as basic as it was compared to MC, OoX/LA's engine/graphics were top notch and actually "felt" like a handheld Zelda is supposed to feel IMO.

I did really enjoy MC. It was the first Zelda I played and therefore has always had a place in my heart. I've played it to the death. However, I have to disagree with your statement. To me, most of my favourite games are the newer ones. I just like them being updated and such. Take TP, the feel of it is astounding, this is my favourite game of all time and is newer than MC.
Something else I have to disagree with, Is you say it brings a challenge. MC is Without a doubt the easiest Zelda I have played. Furthermore, On my first completetion, It probably took me 10 hours MAXIMUM. Now, I could probably do it in 5 or 6. It is short and easy. The bosses can be difficult (Vaati especially,) but nothing compared to alot of other games. This is the ideal 'Introduction' game in my opinion as it is just so easy and simple with a good, basic storyline, however, for veteran gamers and long-time fans of the franchise I'd predict it'd be less popular.

Phantom Hourglass is easier, in case you haven't played it.
The only boss that can be a challenge is the boat Bellum, just because it keeps rocking back and forth and makes hard for every shot to land clearly.

Nah i'v played Phantom hourglass. I found them about equal difficulty, but PH is longer. At least, it is for me. This is why I said MC was the easiest. Also, I did not find the boat Bellum hard, as all you have to do is touch the eye you are aiming for, if the boat moved you canon ball would still hit it. Hoever, I did find the Dodongo thing quite challenging. The one where you play as Gongoron aswell as Link, just because I found it SOOOOO annoying to have to keep switching between players so that Link didn't die.

I'd say I have to agree with you on several points, Axle. MC is an awesome game. It certainly has it's place, and I might prefer it over TP even. Maybe it's just that it was really the first Zelda game of my own (the other ones I'd played were all my brothers), or maybe it's that the game really is that good, but whatever, I like it quite a lot.
What I do have to disagree with is the bit on difficulty. Even though it was one of the first few Zelda games I'd played, I really had no trouble at all completing it. That being said, some of the sidequests were pretty tough: for example, getting every single Kinstone Fusion, which I only succeeded in with a checklist.
So overall, MC is a great game, but definitely could've been a little harder. As for it being the best of the newer games, I'd prefer WW over it.

TMC is my favorite Zelda game, and mostly for the same reasons you stated, Axle. I also loved the idea of collecting the seashells and using them to obtain the figurines.

Yeah sometimes Noone wants to fuse. It's likely that the person you have left to fuse with will only fuse with you at a certain time. Best thing to do is check everyone, and I mean EVERYONE! Then, if noone wants to fuse, turn it off for a while, then turn it back on, and check EVERYONE! Lol.

I really enjoyed The Minish Cap. For a while, I was reluctant to play it, because it didn't look like a good game to me, but I bought it on a whim when it was on sale at GameStop one day, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really is a good game, one of the best in the series, especially being made by Capcom. And if my name isn't any indication that I like the game, then I don't know what is.

I see some of the points of those who didn't like the game. My initial post was actually a little poorly written in that I didn't indicate my main points too well...
I think the game is one of the best for two primary reasons:
The design. The game had unique, interesting design IMO, and I think that's something a lot of the other recent games lack.
The bosses. Going with the last point, they were well designed, and I also felt they were all challenging. The rest of the game was a bit easy at points, but I felt the bosses were a constant challenge.
Maybe that clears things up a little...

I found the Minish Cap to be a very boring Zelda game.
There was nothing about the game that was really remarkable.
The idea for Link to shrink down to minish size sound cool but it really was just a less interesting take on the idea of two worlds that Nintendo has milked to death since ALTTP.
The games story was uninteresting and Link's sidekick the hat thing got on my nerves.
In fact I never finished the game I got bored of it after I beat the first dungeon.
Overall I found the Minish Cap to be a boring Zelda game.

It was enjoyable, but too short and quick. The old eight-dungeon formula is something that I genuinely missed. The story also wasn't as intensive as previous games like the Oracle ones. In terms of modern (modern being Wind Waker and beyond, according to me), I'd have to say that Twilight Princess would win for best modern Zelda, with Wind Waker at a close second, falling behind only because sailing took too long.

I loved this one, I really did. o.o
The game ran great, it was adorable I'd say. The music was good and catchy and of course the main theme was there, the game looked great for a portable system. The stages were designed well and the bosses were fun to fight. The whole 'close' thing was also a plus for me and the final boos, one of the hardest I've ever come across. Side quests, one of the biggest IMO and always fun to find out and such.
I liked the game a lot.

I honestly believe The Minish Cap is a understimated game. :<
I really enjoyed playing with it, maybe the story was a bit childish but, I love that kind of fantasy mixed with tales you can relate to. Funny enough, I got lost through the game, so I it wasn't all that easy as it was for many. Funny enough I am wasn't new at the series when I played through it, hahah.

Well I just recently got Minish Cap a few weeks ago and so far I enjoy playing it. It's different from other Zeldas I've played, you know with the shrinking and stuff.
I love the music that plays on it. I can listen to it all day (well not literally all day, but you know what I mean. ;) ) I like how you can customize the item buttons to use other items than just your sword and shield.
This game would probably count as one of my favorite Zeldas so far. :)

As a game in general, I think that MC was great. However, if you put it up against the other Zeldas it wasn't the best.
I thought that it was really easy, compared to the other games. I accucally beat the entire game in one day once, cause I was bored. I had played through it before though.
It did have a new storyline though. I liked the addition of the elements. It had great music! The figurines were a cool addtion.
The game did seem short and too easy though. All of the new items were kinda wierd too.

Personally, I loved The Minish Cap. While I don't feel that it offered that feeling of replay quality, I do think that if you don't play this adventure, then you are surely missing out.
I was hooked from the moment I started the game. I enjoyed the subtle difference in social interaction- mainly, the fact that Link and Zelda were childhood friends. Link's grandpa was somebody I could warm up to despite not having much screentime; he was a great parental figure- stern, strong, wise, and caring. And then right off the bat, Princess Zelda is running around the market in the most adorable way. She was the one who made me excited to be there, and I loved that she won a shield for Link. D'aaaaaaw!
What really sucked me in was that as soon as they had bonded me with this princess-slash-best-friend, Vaati comes along and turns her to stone. And so the journey begins. I like how it starts out as needing to save poor Zelda, but the adventure is much like a rose- it keeps opening up and unfolding, constantly showing moments of brilliance in design, story, and characters.
We are given a sidekick as it has become sort of a custom in the Zelda games as of late, only.... he's a hat. Wat? On top of that, he's a bit stuffy. But he provides ample entertainment, and he's useful to boot. Even side characters like Malon, Anju or SwiftBlade can charm their way into your heart.
Now, I think the majority of us can agree that the game wasn't that difficult at all. Puzzles were simple, enemies didn't put up much of a fight, but there was still plenty to go around. It's not all about fighting. We unlock more copies of Link so that more areas can be cleared, and there was a lot to explore. Even gathering kinstones was pretty fun.
The Minish Cap even goes on to entertain outside of the game itself. The legends within legends have contributed to the Zelda community long after its release with discussion and debate regarding its place in the timeline, questioning the exact meaning of terms such as "golden light", and even bringing into question the creation of Hyrule. In all, the game has its highs and lows, but it's definitely a game I'd recommend to any gamer, even if they aren't a Zelda fan.

Okay, scratch what I said about level design earlier. It just got 20 times more awesome. I just played the 4th temple, and, jeez, that was the most fun i've had in a while. That temple is designed so perfectly. The first half is really linear, and the second half is mazelike. The boss fight was so fun, the item you get is awesome, that temple was great.
I never really got into Minish Cap at all. The map is so.....ugh, I just don't like how you have to navigate through the entire thing. The resizing all the time gets really annoying after a while too. I played almost to the second dungeon, but stopped there and I've never picked it up again. I just can't get into it at all.

I like Minish Cap a lot, but it isn't a favorite. I prefer ALttP to MC, even though they are very similar. The game had more pros than cons, for example: music, graphics, and controls are great, a lot of new items unlike PH, and a change from Ganon. Don't get me wrong I really like Ganny, but he can get a little old. The only thing I didn't like was the short length (which is why I like ALttP more).

I liked the game but I thought I had fused all the Kinstones but I can't find the last few so I can get the last Heart Pieces. But the last boss took me a couple tries but eventually i beat it.

I quite like it.
The sad thing is that the start is sort of boring, and the whole first half of the game feels linear and monotonous.
Which is sad, as most will give up on Minish Cap early, missing on the above awesome second half.
Palace in the Sky and the final dungeon are AMAZING and help put across the point that MC deserves its spot in the Zelda family just as much as the other handhelds.

This is a good Zelda game and Minish Cap had one thing that made me think it was weird at first and that was the talking hat and after a little while it was just like Navi. Another thing that sparked me was the return of Vati and how he became Vati. Of course the probably one time thing is the kinstones and has anyone noticed that the gold ones help you in the game and the others were just for fun and to beat the game entirely.

I thought Mc was a great hand-held game and good time passer the final boss was hard though and the temple design was neat!:nerd:

I liked The Minish Cap a bit, but when my character file disappeared one time and I was forced to restart, I couldn't seem to be drawn back to it. The music was a bit eh to me, and the story wasn't that interesting. However, I did like the variety of new places, the kinstones, and the ability to grow and shrink at will.

Great game. Ive even beaten it on a 3 heart run. But the only thing i dislike is the Kinstone fusing.

I haven't completed it yet (I've just gotten to the 4th temple) but great game so far! I really like the style of the game (the animation etc...).
I don't think the game is better than LADX though IMO.

To those who say they got bored around the second dungeon, or just prior to it, I'd recommend playing a little longer. I was having some issues with the game too, but right after completing the Cave of Flames (second dungeon) it really started to improve, and once you reach the fourth dungeon, things are pretty awesome. ;)
Ah, the Temple of Droplets! This was my favorite dungeon in the game and one of my favorites in the entire series. I'm glad someone else enjoyed it as much as I did! ^^

it was the veary first zelda I completed with no help whatsoever. this gave it special meaning. I think that it was a good game overall and with good music. it was also the funnniest zelda for me. (the first time you get a green rupee: you got 1 rupee!!!dont spend it all in one place!)

I hated it. For one, it's pretty darn short. Two, it's unamusing. And three, the macrophilia. As I've stated before, I do not really tolerate most paraphilias, specifically vore. People I know who have played it call the minish cute and lovable. I almost agreed with them, until I saw like a million fanfictions on the internet that made me think: Wait, this is a sexual fetish? Yes. It was. Most modern cartoons always have a macrophilia episode where (a) character(s) are shrunken. This is Nintendo's equivalent of that. And to be quite honest, it's disgusting.

The Minish Cap remains for me one of the best handheld Zeldas I've ever played. The graphics are a nice, the story is entertaining, the final boss isn't Ganon, and it even has some pretty good pieces of music. It was also one of the funniest Zeldas I've played in a long time, and the dungeons were all designed nicely. They were each very well representative of their elements, and they never got too boring or frustrating. The big/small feature never got tiring for me, and I loved seeing Minish communities and such living in a seemingly average home. I also thought that the feature played well into most of the boss battles. There's also an abundance of sidequests and neato items along with everything that make the game amazing. The only issue I ever had with this game is the simplicity of it all, but somehow, that makes it all the more charming.

The Minish Cap was my 3rd favorite Zelda game, my favorite handheld Zelda game, and my favorite handheld videogame of all time! So yeah, I love it.

Ugh...personally, while I loved Minish Cap (after all, it's a Zelda game), It was one of my least favorites in the series. The concept was really great, and the graphics were pretty good, but it didn't have enough dungeons. It still had a lot of gameplay, yes, but the game really would have been a lot better with more dungeons and fewer sidequests. Library books? Really? Getting a mushroom? Sure, a sidequest or two like that isn't bad (if its shorter and comes in a longer game), but when you have to do some mundane task every single time you finish a dungeon in order to continue, then there's a problem.
So it was decent, but I didn't really like it all that much.

Minish Cap is my favorite Zelda. The Reason being is that Kinstone fusing was a lot of fun and that there was plenty of side-quests (wouldn't be zelda without a bunch of side quests). I had a lot of fun with that game and it is my favorite Zelda

It looks nice.
Oh, I've never played the game. Is that important?

I kinda agree with Octo Rocked.
The dungeons were all too small and easy(temple of droplets was annoying, though).
Apart from that, it has one of the longest sidequests to ever grace a Zelda game

For me MC was a great game with Nice graphics and a nice storyline, The only thing i don't like though is the easy Boss battles.
The Gameplay of MC was good, you go around like always and you encounter monsters, But MC has More sidequests which is a good thing, where i can unlock other items that might seems necessary but in truth they are just rewards for finding them. But the most surprising thing about MC is that if you are too late in saving Zelda before the last bell tolls, Vaati wins. THAT my friends is a Great way to intensify the fight, to intensify the situation and to be more edgy in order to beat the bad guy.
the Music in the game is also decent, they even put a Phonograph in a certain place to let the player listen to the music. I liked some of the remixes especially the Zelda's Lullaby.
As to the Storyline, You get an everyday Bad guy with a mysterious past and then you meet an eccentric friend in a wooded area. That might seem cliche but i think it's nice to see it happening. As the story goes, the story gets a little worry some and a little more mysterious. And finally you found out that Zelda had the power that Vaati was Looking for. Yep a nice story with a nice sense of happiness, heroism and some Comedic moments.
So this is my opinion thanks. :P

Minish Cap is the best of the handheld games in my books, although i haven't had the chance to try out Spirit Tracks yet... but i really think that in terms of content, controls, style, and story it was one of the better games. The DS games are good too but the touch controls are boring after you play so many DS games.. And the older gameboy games are really downgraded compared to the GBA so much so that Link could'nt even roll. Although i think the GB/GBC games are some of the best Zelda games =) but ya, MC all the way!!!
