So I got back from the theater at 3 in the morning last night, immediately went to bed, and now I just woke up. This was my first midnight launch movie that I've ever seen... and man was I impressed.

The movie was non-stop from beginning to end, always having an action sequence or an intriguing story portion. I'm honestly not a big fan of super hero movies at all, in fact, I've never even seen most the Marvel or DS comic movies... just Batman. I thought the acting was brilliant. The actor that played Harvey Dent aka Two-Face did an amazing job.

I also think Heath Ledger did an amazing job playing the joker. There were big questions about him coming into this movie, ever since he was first announced for the film. Could he live up to what Jack Nicholson put together in the original Batman title? My answer, yes

I don't know what else to say about this title. I'm not a big movie fan or a critic of movies, but it really was a great movie. I rarely ever leave the theater disappointed, but early this morning, I left the theater very satisfied. Given it was a very Dark movie, it still put a smile on my face.

Anybody and Everybody who is even considering going to see the movie, I highly suggest it. I can't really think of anything bad about the film... other than maybe its length. (2:30). Great movie.

Okay. Two things. 1. Why have I not noticed this thread yet? 2. Why is there only one response?

SPOILERS

When I went to go and see Ironman a couple of months? before Dark Knight, I effin loved it. Best movie I'd seen in a long time, if ever. Months? passed, and I went to go see Dark Knight. I would say at least that Dark Knight was 20 times better than Ironman ever was.

I spent I would say a good 20 hours, listening and watching to the trailers on You Tube for this movie, and hell, I'm listening to Trailer #2 right now, that's how good THE TRAILER was.

I sort of have a hate for those that still say that Jack Nicholson was better than Heath was, because it's just so impossible. I mean even the laugh the Heath did deserves him an Oscar. Seriously.

Joker: You know I kind of went into this movie thinking that he was going to be so sure of himself, like the bad*** villain who has this set agenda to destroy the world, or well, in this case Gotham. He was completely the opposite. When the meeting happened in like the kitchen place, he was stuttering, he was almost afraid of them, and even had to resort to Grenades to get out. Throughout the rest of the movie, he was even really funny at sometimes, like when he was in the truck and Batman was driving around with the string stuff on the wheels and he says, "He missed!" and then the truck completely flips over and he just stumbles out of it. Or when he had the Bazooka out trying to destroy that Armored Truck, and he shoots it, and Batman comes up in his armored car thing, and intercepts it, the camera just goes back to him, and you just hear him say "Hmm", or last when of course he dressed up as a nurse and blew up Gotham Country Hospital. The laugh alone that he has, he should get an Oscar for that thing. And one of my favorite parts in the Interrogation room, when he was being beaten up by Batman, he was funny. I will admit that. And of course, one, if not the most famous part about him, WHY SO SERIOUS? :P

Batman/Bruce Wayne: Not as good as Joker was, but still very interesting. He was so set in Batman Begins, as the hero of Gotham, that he was needed, he would be here. But in this movie, he was literally deciding whether to give up or not. And now Gotham is against him.

Right now, as I'm typing this, Dark Knight has Made $872,902,478 Worldwide. Now granted, it's not Titanic, but I bet you that almost if not every person who saw that movie will be getting it on DVD.

And about the length, it was only two and half hours long, that's not that long compared to something like Lord of The Rings. I mean, most movies now are about two hours long, so what's an extra half an hour? I think people were just so involved with it it seemed long.

That is all. Sorry for the long post.

I couldn't have said it better than that. A rather long post to be quoting, but oh well.:P

Quite frankly, the movie wouldn't have been near as good if Heath Ledger wasn't the Joker. Everything about the Joker's character was perfectly done. There wasn't one thing that I didn't like about the movie. Which is rare for me to say. 11/10 Epic win.

TDK was so great I went to it twice. I never go to movies twice unless I'm not paying the second time.

It is a darn shame that Heath Ledger won't be able to evolve his Joker past this movie.

See the movie or kill yourself. Your life isn't worth living if you do not worship this movie...

But really, it was a good movie but not the best Batman Movie in my opinion. I still liked Batman Returns better as well as the old 60s TV Show and Movie, oh man I loved that show.

I thought that it was a pretty good movie.Best batman yet. The Joker was very destructive. He made the town look messier than my room (and thats messy). Even though the movies are both just as good as each other (almost) Superman is still better. SUPERMAN RULES!!!!!

Heath Ledger did a kick a** job as the Joker.

The only problem I have with the movie is that they killed Twoface.

Wow, this movie is EXTREMELY overrated and I mean extremely.

People are actually saying it's the best movie ever made, now I can respect someone's opinion if it's their favorite movie but people are calling it the most well-made and actual best movie ever made as if it's a fact.... Utter bullcrap, I don't know how the hell people can actually say that, because I don't even think it's in the top 100. Heath Ledger played as the Joker, in my opinion, he seriously over-did it, in conversations, he can't stop tilting his head and moving his lips all the time. I understand he's supposed to portray a psychotic killer but you know, I've seen a lot of 'psychotic' killer movies and I've seen some great stuff from it because they hardly over-act. If Heath Ledger was meant to portray a realistic killer then he doesn't have to twitch all the time in conversations.

But the movie... Oh god, no. The dialog was boring as crap, especially for a Batman movie, I expected more action and thrills, I saw them, but at the cost of Dinner Parties and *snooooore*. The action was pretty meh as well, I would have liked it if it was BATMAN driving the BatTank and MotorBike but Gordon driving it and portraying Batman just ruined it for me. And look here, the very grunty voice of Batman is back.

3/5

chrisbg99
12-11-2008, 07:07 AM
Um, that was Batman (i.e. Bruce Wayne) driving in the chase. Whatever gave you the impression that he wasn't? Gordon was driving the paddy wagon in disguise.

And besides that you are wrong in so many other ways. I'm sure Fantastic Four is right up your alley.

Chidori
12-11-2008, 07:49 AM
No, I wouldn't call it wrong, it's more of an opinion. And I haven't seen the movie in a couple of months but wasn't it Gordon driving it, then going on the Bat-Bike and eventually it does turn out to be Gordon? That's the way I recall it.

chrisbg99
12-11-2008, 08:04 AM
No, Gordon was the driver of the police vehicle that was transporting Dent and being chased by The Joker.

If you can't figure out a little and quite obvious detail like that, the movie was probably too complicated for you. Or you are just disliking the movie to be contrary.

Chidori
12-11-2008, 08:08 AM
Did you not read the part where I said I hadn't read it in a long while? Also how does Gordon get on the Bat-Bike anyway? That shouldn't be mysteriously hidden, it should be followed up on, otherwise I'd get confused. Either way, I'm still pointing out that I think Heath Ledger wasn't an outstanding performance, over-acting, he was.

Ganon
12-16-2008, 03:34 PM
Gordon was never on the bat-bike that I recall.

How many real serial killers have you met? I haven't met any myself so I don't know how they act, but I am sure they all act different. The Joker acted the way a lot of people thought he should act, completely psychotic with psychotic tendency's. He licked his lips a lot because if you didn't follow along with the movie, his mouth was cut into a smile. I am sure if that happened to some one for real they would probably have nervous tendency's to lick their lips and such. Batman is based from a comic book, it isn't meant to be a true to life movie.

Oh and Heath Ledger played the best joker that I have seen.

He was never on the Bat Pod. He was the driver of the van that was transporting Dent to prison. Can't you read?

And Heath's Joker was perfect. I don't know if you know this but The Joker is an over the top villain in the Batman world. If anything Heath's Joker was relatively subdued compared to other iterations of The Joker.

Batman has always been my favorite of all the superheroes, and these new Batman movies (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight,) are by far my favorite "superhero movies," and are actually up there in my favorite movies of all time.

I loved The Dark Knight. The The Joker is bloody frickin' awesome. I actually have a beanie cap (not sure if that's the right term, but whatever) with him on it. XD

This Joker was one of my favorite incarnations of him. I think it definitely beats the Jack Nicholson Joker, and is even on par with the Mark Hamil Joker of the animated series (Mark Hamil was always my favorite Joker before now, even though it was just his voice.) Now I think I like both Mark Hamil and Heath Ledger about equally as The Joker.

The fact that they are brave enough to point out the flaws in the very idea of having a Batman and question the morality of vigilantism makes this my favorite superhero movie, even above Batman Begins and Superman 1.

Man, I can't wait for Watchmen.

It is a pretty common theme in the Batman comics that Batman's mere presence in Gotham City is what brought about the plague of costumed villainy. The Year One comics had Batman fighting the mob similar to what he was doing in the first one. And eventually guys like The Joker started showing up.

I don't think the length (2:30) was a bad thing. I hate it when great movies like these end in an hour or 90 min. I always think that the brilliance could've lasted longer :p

It's SUCH a shame about the overdose. He made it into the 'legenday young died actors'-list.
I'm not a superhero-movie fan either. But this was a great movie, one worth buying on dvd and showing it to the next generations.
The Joker-act just gave me thrills, something I haven't felt in years from a movie.

I've also heard rumors of Eddie Murphy being considered for The Riddler.

I'm just worried that Warner Bros. is going way too far with the major roles for celebrities thing. Which isn't a bad thing if the actor is good for it but just plugging random names in is a bad idea.

Of course since I'd say Nolan has so far nailed it with the Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman as far as veteran actors doing a great job in their roles, maybe I'm worrying too much.

I wasn't impressed with the Dark Knight. I just rented it two nights ago and watched it twice. I heard all the hype over the movie and read alot of praise about it, but I guess it just wasn't for me.

Sure, it was better than the previous Batmans ( except for the first ), but there was too much crap story in between the action. I was expecting Ledger's Joker to be more twisted than what it was, but both Ledger and whoever played Batman did a good job. I think I actually liked the Batman guy better than all the previous ones.
