Happy Saturday, Zelda fans. The weekend means another ZI Photoshop Contest is ready to begin. Just a few days ago at The Game Awards, we were given a big, juicy taste of Breath of the Wild, including a new trailer and new gameplay video. A standout star from the trailer for me was the adorable dog that was seen running alongside Link and his horse. This canine NPC has got me thinking of the many great dog characters in Zelda history; so I figured we can use this contest to honor these furry friends. Highlight your favorite, and be sure to see the winners of last week’s contest: Give a New Job to a Zelda Merchant.

Last Week’s Contest:

Great deals were everywhere last week, and our favorite Zelda merchants re-entered the workface.

Challenge Mode

For all the excellent discounts and retail goodies this past week, many gamers found the utmost difficulty in finding an NES Classic Edition on store shelves. This is why our Challenge Mode last week tasked contestants with including the illusive console alongside a real-life businessperson. Artist Jahamez took home the challenge prize last week, offering a submission with perhaps the most well-known American businessman, president-elect Donald Trump. It looks like the Donald secured an NES Classic from the equally cut-throat Tingle, who scalped the console for about a million rupees. Topical and hilarious!

This Week’s Contest: Lettin’ the Dog’s Out

The Zelda series is home to several memorable dog characters. We’ve seen canine companions in such games as Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and The Minish Cap. And as the most recent Breath of the Wild trailer showed off, doggies will once again be featured in Hyrule.

The contest this week is to ‘shop an image featuring at least one dog character from the Zelda series. We’re leaving you with a bit of freedom for this time around; as long as a Zelda dog is included, your entry can take any form you’d like. There are a few pups in the image gallery below, but feel free to use any images you find online.

General Rules: Submit your entries in the comments section below.

  • To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
  • Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
  • Some hand-drawn fan art is okay, but your entry must include some image manipulation to be considered.
  • If you use another fan’s original assets or likeness, please try to give them credit.
  • Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Deadline: Submit entries no later than Thursday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on December 8. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

Don’t forget to check back throughout the week and upvote your favorites, and maybe you will be one of next week’s winners!
