Wow, sorry for the delay on this mailbag. For whatever reason there was a lot of trouble uploading it. Also sorry for the resolution issues. Either way, this time there’s quite a few questions. There’s 15 questions in total, with roughly half being Skyward Sword related and the other half being about other aspects of the series. Enjoy! You can find the video here or click Read More to watch the embedded video.

Youtube user Futurised has uploaded a video featuring some lovely Zelda poetry, with an interesting take on what Link really does. As the title suggests, it tells the tale of a certain Hero in Green, who is unusually lazy for being a hero. The real story of Link and his adventures turns out to be rather a lack of adventures. It’s very creative, and of course everything rhymes. It’s very well done and worth checking out so make sure to take the jump and see it!
This is a bit of an odder video. It’s not a serious discussion topic, but something I kinda wanted to get off my chest. I think that Skyward Sword had a number of missed opportunities. There were a lot of things it seems like Nintendo missed out on doing that would have fit the game really well and been really awesome, so this video is about two of my ideas. You can view it here or check out the embed after the jump.
I’ve had a lot of ideas on things I’d do if I had some involvement with Skyward Sword. I’m sure all Zelda fans, or fans of any game really, think like that. Things like what would you have done to change flaws in the game, or to add to something that felt like it needed more? In general it’s fun and interesting to think about how something could have been different, possibly even improved, by other ideas.
Machinima has came out with a comedic Zelda video. It’s a hilarious take on The Wind Waker that shows Link having problems trying to successfully catch a pig. When a small boy blows snot on him and Link drops the pig, everything starts going wrong.
You can watch the video after the jump, but keep in mind it is a bit gory.
SMBCTheater is a great group on youtube that creates parodies and original funny skits. A while back they created a very nice live action parody of the first Legend of Zelda game for the NES.
The parody features Link as he is returning to the Old Man after conquering the first dungeon and is frustrated by all the tasks he must complete before finally being able to save the princess. The video does feature some rather strong language, so be prepared when watching the video. You can check it out after the jump.
This video is about Demise from Skyward Sword. (And naturally, since it’s about the game’s final boss, there are heavy spoilers in many parts of the video.) I really liked Demise. I thought he was an all-around awesome villain that was really cool to see in the game, so this video is largely me defending him against criticisms I’ve heard often about him. You can view the embed of the video after the jump or watch it here.
Some of the main criticisms I’ve heard are stuff about him being a very easy boss, anti-climactic, and not much of a character. There’ve also been some concerns about him from a plot perspective though. In this video I basically go over these and discuss why he wasn’t so bad in these areas. I hope you enjoy!
Again this mailbag, we have a number of non-Skyward Sword questions and a few only partially related to the game, so it seems like things are starting to return to normal a bit. What’s probably a relief to those who haven’t played the game yet is very few of the questions involve spoilers for the game. Anyway, 14 questions in all. You can view the video here or check out the embed after the jump. Enjoy!

A new video by Kotaku shows off a humorous look at Link attempting to haggle over rupees at a pawn shop parodying the popular show Pawn Stars. The video does a fairly good job of copying the look and feel of the show Pawn Stars by portraying a fictional store named Pwn Stars that deals in all types of video game items. This time Link comes in wanting to sell off his Triforce of Courage for a high price while the more experienced pawn shop owner talks him down to a much lower amount. There are plenty of references to the series throughout their conversation so try to see if you can catch them all. Jump inside to check it out for yourself.
In this mailbag we’re finally moving to a few more broad questions that aren’t about Skyward Sword, although that’s likely largely due to Hyrule Histora. Either way, most of the Skyward Sword questions are largely spoiler-free this time around, save for a few at the end. There’s 11 questions in all. View the mailbag here or check out the embed after the jump. Enjoy!

Youtube member Superphill3 has recently posted a video showing off his tribute to the Legend of Zelda on the piano. The song is a medley of various themes from throughout the series starting out with the familiar main theme. Between each song he quickly introduces the name of the song ans which game it is from. Jump inside to see it for yourself.
The Beetle in Skyward Sword is useful for many things: getting items that are far out of Link’s reach, hitting switches, getting past obstacles by using a bomb, getting a look at the surroundings, hitting random citizens of Skyloft… Wait, what?
Yes, apparently so, cause one such person has done just that. Robotortoise of youtube has recording a video showing him using the beetle to hit certain individuals around Skyloft and they react by crying out in pain and holding their heads.

Alright, so lately there’s been a lot of talk about the latest Zelda news, which is the Hyrule Historia book. That’s what this video is about, as I’m sure you can glean from the title. I’ve received questions about the book numerous times the last week, but I didn’t answer them on the mailbag because I’ve been planning this video, so now you can hear me thoughts on it. You can view the video here or check out the embed after the jump. I hope you enjoy!
I’m sure regular mailbag viewers will know that I rarely discuss the timeline outside of the major canonical connections that have been confirmed. Never been a really big timeline guy, and I’ve usually found all the major timeline theorizing to be kind of annoying. That said I do actually have some thoughts on the Hyrule Historia timeline, not all of them positive, but not all of them negative either.
One of my favorite things to randomly search for on YouTube is 8-bit remixes of some of my favorite songs or favorite game themes from modern games. I’m not sure what really draws me to it, but I presume that nostalgia is a big part of it. There are some themes from the NES era that will forever be ingrained in my mind, and they are some of the best pieces of game music I’ve ever heard of. Sure Skyward Sword was a big step in the direction of orchestrated music, but to me, the classic 8-bit stuff is just as good in its own way. YouTuber dannwe123 has recently put together an 8-Bit Remix of the Ballad of the Goddess from Skyward Sword and you can listen to it after the jump.
In a new animation by Machima we see a humurous look at the filming of an important scene in the Legend of Zelda. This time we see all of the problems that could come up between the actors and the director when filming. Including things like actors who cannot quite get their lines right, the director having trouble with the actors, and the problems that come up when using cue cards. Throughout the entire short you see the actors continually annoy the director until he decides to take another route. Jump inside to see it for yourself.
A couple of months ago we had reported that Nintendo would be releasing an official deck of Legend of Zelda playing cards in December for Japan. December has come and gone and now these cards are available in Japan. One particular person here in the United States named John had a set of them shipped to him from his friend in Japan. He recorded a video showcasing each card that comes in this deck. He also took some high resolution photos of the cards that he has on his website.

Not only have many everyday fans of the Legend of Zelda series made flipnotes to celebrate Zelda’s 25th Anniversary, but some of the staff members of Nintendo of America have decided to create some as well. The way these flipnotes are presented vary from Link flying around on a cucco while seeing various people from the Zelda series to Link using the Wii U’s controller to find his way through a dungeon. There’s even an instance of CD-i Link appearing in one of the flipnotes! If you want to see these flipnotes for yourself, please take the jump below.
Ever wonder what Majora’s Mask would look like if it was cel-shaded? Lucky for you, Youtube user Oehr64 has uploaded a video showing a cel-shaded texture mod for Majora’s Mask. The texture is showcased throughout various Majora’s Mask cut scenes. The mod looks very nice, it gives the game a brighter, more whimsical look. While it isn’t as toon-like as Wind Waker, it adds detail while also making the game appear very colorful.

We’ve been steadily uploading Skyward Sword videos to the Zelda Dungeon YouTube Channel for several weeks now and we are just over the halfway mark with the video guide. The better news is that I’ve nearly completed the video guide on my end, having recorded 16 of the 18 chapters, and audio dubbed 15 of those chapters. Just three more chapters to go! What does this mean for the fans out there? More rapid video uploads as I’m hoping to have the entire video walkthrough completed and uploaded within the next three weeks.
We recently covered a few interesting glitches in the Pair of Glitches article just a few months ago. Well now youtube member Robotortoise has discovered another interesting glitch in Ocarina of Time that allows you to meet Zelda after collecting all three spiritual stones. This is a normally impossible task after the escape from Hyrule Castle cutscene. After making this discovery he uploaded a video going over exactly how to accomplish this trick and describes the various changes to the area after performing it. This is an expansion of the Use Any Item glitch previously covered to return back to a now locked location. Here is what he had to say about it.
To perform this, you’ll need to use Farore’s Wind at Zelda’s courtyard using the “any item anywhere” glitch (equip an usable item over an unusable one, then mash the button for the usable item rapidly after exiting the ITEMS menu) before defeating Barinade. After obtaining the Ocarina Of Time, just do the glitch again (or go to a dungeon, if you’re lazy like me) and you will re-appear at Zelda’s courtyard. Ta-da!
This trick should also allow us to visit normally inaccessible areas like Malon’s bedroom during night, shops at night/day, etc.

Hey guys, got your new mailbag. Sorry for there being no one around Christmas, but they should be pretty consistent from now on. Again, mostly covering Skyward Sword, so watch out for spoilers by checking the questions in the timestamps first. 12 questions in all. Enjoy! You can view the video embed as well as the questions and their timestamps after the jump, or click here to view it instead.
Youtube group Underbellyshow recently posted a video showing off the more humorous side of Link collecting money from random clay pots in people’s homes. They take a look at just how awkward it might be for a hero to wander into a house, break a vase and take the money out of it when the homeowners are right there watching. And even later on they look at the economic situation in Hyrule and just how strange it really is.

The topic of this video is Skyward Sword’s similarities to Twilight Princess. Even when I was still in the early portions of Skyward Sword, I had already begun to think that the game was very similar to Twilight Princess, and now that I’ve completed the game I only think so more. I think that, in a way, Skyward Sword is Twilight Princess’ personal sequel, sort of like how Majora’s Mask was a sequel to Ocarina of Time and how Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were sequels to The Wind Waker.
Of course, Skyward Sword is actually a prequel, and one for the entire series, but I think in terms of how the game is designed, it’s actually, in terms of themes, style, and gameplay, more of a follow-up to Twilight Princess than Ocarina of Time or any of the other games. I go over many of the direct similarities in this video. You can find an embed after the jump or watch it here.
Thanks to youtube user ChrisCrossMedia we can all celibrate Christmas the Zelda way through their new version of the song 12 Days of Christmas. Only this time there is a Legend of Zelda theme to the song. Each gift for the day is now something Zelda related, so you will have to see the video to find out what they are. Nintendo has been updating their Nintendo Club rewards and adding new items. To go along with 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda a new set of three posters were announced earlier this month. Finally after being released and available for about a week Garrett, of Nintendo Daily, is showing us his and possibly the first unboxing of the posters.
In the video Garrett gives us his opinions while unboxing the set and giving us a closer look on them. All three posters are a tribute to either Skyward Sword or the 25th anniversary and one is even made of what he describes as a canvas material and not the normal poster paper we are used too. To learn more about this awesome new Club Nintendo reward be sure to watch the video for yourself after the jump.
Apparently we’re not the only ones celebrating Christmas this time of year. It looks like the people of Hyrule are celebrating the holiday themselves, namely Ganondorf. He only has one item that’s on his Christmas list this year and he decides to tell everyone exactly what it is that he wants by singing his request to the tune of song that we probably hear a lot this time of year.
If you want to see what Ganondorf wants this year, please take the jump.
Youtube user floshiden has recently posted a video going over the new Hyrule Historia. In this video he gives us a better look at the pages of the Hyrule Historia book, albeit in French. Regardless of the language of the narration, he does a great job of displaying the pages and sections of the book for those of us that have yet to check it out for ourselves. Here is what he had to say.
Hyrule Historia est un superbe artbook pour les 25 ans de la série. de nombreux artworks, des croquis des esquises ont été dévoilé. cette vidéo vous donne un aperçue de ce que contient le livre.

Youtube group Yosemiteland recently posted their entry in the Nintendo Short film contest. In this video we see someone learn the err of his ways when he picks up a lost 3DS and is taught a lesson by Link himself. Here is what they had to say about it.
On December 16th, 2011 Nintendo sponsored a 24 hour film challenge where eight teams of four people were given only 24 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film based of one of four games for the Nintendo 3DS. The options were: Mario Kart 7, Tetris Axis, Super Mario 3D Land, and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Our team randomly selected, The Legend of Zelda. Every video in the competion had to include an orange traffic cone and a specific line of dialogue: “You have to see it to believe it.” Watch to see what happens when 4 strangers have 24 hours to make a video when provided a Camera, Mic, a Driver to take us anywhere in a 10 mile radius, and a computer to edit on.

Youtube user Deku78 recently posted a video with metal remixes of sereral different songs from the Legend of Zelda. After the latest Spike TV Video Game Awards this evening the winners have been announced. Even with high hopes Skyward Sword did not win Game of the Year, that honor went to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Zelda however did win in two other categories, Best Wii Game and Best Motion Game. Both are very clear wins for Zelda. Skyward Sword was still a strong contender this year going up against other industry giants such as Elder Scrolls and Batman:Arkham City. Nevertheless Zelda did receive a special honor as being the first game inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame with a surprise visit by Shigeru Miyamoto to accept the award. Check out some more just after the jump.
So I don’t really know how to describe the beginning portion of this video… but umm, just check it out for yourself. It does have some nice 3D animation and it’s based around the original Legend of Zelda. While it was featured over at Machinima it originally comes from YouTuber KidYoYoToon. It is certainly dangerous to go alone… so take this video. Make the jump to check it out.
Pictured to the left is Andy Scott, the newest member of the team here at Zelda Dungeon and the latest personality at our YouTube Channel. He just released his first video at our YouTube channel and it is about the G4 Video Game Deathmatch. Make the jump to check out Andy’s first video.
Finally, the mailbag’s back! Now that I’ve nearly beaten Skyward Sword, I’m prepared to begin answering questions about it. Youtube user spidermjc has uploaded a cute little fan film to the song Legend of Zelda by The Rabbit Joint. The costumes are really adorable and well done. It stars a very fitting young Link on his quest to save Hyrule. While Ganondorf seems a lot less imposing when he’s around three feet tall, it is no less an epic tale. Will Link succeed with the aid of his fairy in saving the equally short Princess Zelda? Check out the video after the jump!
