- Back at the Great Sea, our first stop should be Dee Ess Island. Use the Cyclone
Slate or just sail on over to the island.
~ Dee Ess Island ~
- Jump down to the lower platform on the lower side of Dee Ess Island and speak with the big Goron.
He explains that a new Goron Game is open and it costs 50 rupees to play. Pay the rupees and he
will explain the rules and then introduce you to your Goron Game sidekick,
Gongoron. Turns out that Gongoron is the son of the operator of the game. The
time to beat is 35 seconds.
- Link controls Gongoron has he roles around the island.
There are targets along
the path that Link has to get to open the door to the finish line. It will most
likely take you a few tries to break the 35-second record. The prizes you get
for the game are listed below.

New Item: Bombchu Bag #2
Dee Ess Island - Goron Game
- Play the Goron Game and beat the record of 35 seconds and your prize will be
this bombchu bag upgrade. The second bombchu bag allows Link to carry up to 30
bombchus at once.
- Once you get the bombchu bag upgrade, you can keep playing to gather some extra
rupees and ship parts. Once you are ready to leave, head on over to Linebeck and
set sail.
- Now that Link has the grappling hook, it opens up a ton of small secrets at all
the various islands. Our first stop is back at Goron Island so sail on
over.
~ Goron Island ~
- There is a treasure chest on a higher ledge near the southwest portion
of the island that we can now reach using the grappling hook. Run on
over to the Goron near the center of the island that needed help with
the yellow chuchu's earlier. Stand at the southwest of the higher ledge
and use the grappling hook across the large gap and hook onto the rock.
From there, just walk down and left a bit to find a treasure chest. Open
it up to get the Courage Gem.
Courage Gem #12
Goron Island
- After Link has the grappling hook, return to Goron Island. Run on over
to the Goron who was bothered by the yellow chuchu's earlier. Use the
grappling hook across the gap on a rock. Once you hook on over just head
down and left to find the treasure chest. Open it up for the courage
gem.
- Now run back over to Linebeck and set sail. Our next destination is the
Isle of Ember. Use the cyclone slate and dock at the island.
~ Isle of Ember ~
- Once you dock at the island, head northward and go to the tiny island at the top
of the map. There is a treasure chest that we couldn’t reach before but now that
we have the grappling hook, we can. Hook on over and open the chest for the
courage gem.
Courage Gem #13
Isle of Ember
- Once Link has the grappling hook, he can now reach a small island at the north
part of the Isle of Ember. Hook on over to the treasure chest on the small
island and open it up to get the courage gem.
- Grapple over to the torch on the right and then walk around the island to get
back to Linebeck. Hop on board and set sail for the sea once again. Use the
cyclone slate and then sail on over to Molida Island.
~ Molida Island ~
- Once you dock, head straight to the Molida Island Cavern near Romanos’ house.
Enter the cave and defeat the few red chuchu’s. Climb the small steps and jump
on over a few platforms to the right. Once you are at the last platform, don’t
jump back down to the lower ground. Instead, pull out your grappling hook and
hook on over to the treasure chest on the right. Open it up to get the power
gem.
Power Gem #14
Molida Island Cavern
- Once Link has the grappling hook, head back to the cavern in Molida Island. From
the entrance, defeat the red chuchu’s and then climb up the small steps. Hop on
over a few platforms and from the last platform, use the grappling hook to hook
on over to the nearby treasure chest. Open it up for the power gem.
- Make your way northward passed the Zora Warrior that appears. Just run by the
octoroks and leave this room on the left side. Pass the old wayfarers first
hideout and head up the steps to get the middle part of the island. Head
eastward and then down a screen to get back to the main part of Molida Island,
but on a higher platform.
- You can see there is a barrel on the right side, but if you hook on over to it,
Link will fall in the ground. Use the grappling hook on the barrel and then hook
it over to the stone tablet on your ledge. Doing so will break the barrel on the
tablet and a cucco will pop out. Creep up to the cucco and pick it up. Use it to
fly on over to the island on the right. Hold on to the cucco and fly on over to
the island below. Drop the cucco and pull out your shovel. There is a soft spot
in the ground just below the tree. Dig it out and Link will find a treasure map.
New Item: Treasure Map #20
Molida Island
- This map shows the location of a sunken treasure in the
northwest quadrant of the Great Sea!
- You can just make a normal jump to the lower platform on the left and then use
the grappling hook on the wooden peg to get back to the main part of the island.
- Move on over to the intersection between the two lines that leads to the Old
Wayfarers second hideout on the island. Dig the hole and drop down back into the
cavern. Make your way around the cave and exit at the northern portion of the
island.
- Walk all the way to the Temple of Courage and you will see a small island just
to the left. There is a wooden peg on the mainland and on the island. Use the
grappling hook to create a tight rope and walk across. Open the treasure chest
for a wisdom gem.
Courage Gem #14
Molida Island
- Once Link has the grappling hook, he can now reach a small island just west of
the Temple of Courage. Use the grappling hook to create a tight rope between the
two wooden pegs. Walk across and open the chest to get the courage gem.
- Head back across the tightrope and back to the cavern. Quickly run through it
and get back to the south potion of the island. Run over to Linebeck and set
sail. Our next destination is Spirit Island just to the south, so sail on over.
~ Spirit Island ~
- We don’t have enough gems to upgrade any of our spirit fairies, but we do have
the grappling hook, which lets us access the eastern part of the island. Head
east towards an opened treasure chest. Use the grappling hook to the wooden peg
across the gap. Be careful of the octoroks that are shooting at you. Shield
yourself and walk on over and defeat them.
- Climb the small steps on the left and you’ll find there are more octoroks.
Carefully jump across the gaps and defeat the two pesky enemies. Jump the ledge
and you will find an annoying Like Like. Use the same method we used before to
defeat these rather annoying creatures. You’ll notice a green rupee in the
corner of the platform. If you walk to close, another like like pops out.
- Very similar to regular like like’s but instead of shields they want to suck in,
they want rupees. If the Like Like devours Link for some time, it will steal
some of his rupees in the process. Since they are disguised by a single rupee,
they are able to sneak up on Link since he doesn’t know when it is an enemy or a
rupee, making them just a tad harder than regular Like Like’s. Defeat them by
throwing bombs at them while they are trying to suck you in.
- Pull the small block to the left allowing you to pass. Defeat a few more like
like’s in this area and then climb the set of stairs on the left to reach a
treasure chest. Open it for another power gem.
Power Gem #15
Spirit Island
- Once Link has the grappling hook, he can access the east side of the island.
Navigate past several octoroks and like like’s and you will reach a treasure
chest containing the power gem.
- Jump off the ledge to the left and then use the grappling hook to hook on over
to the treasure chest. Walk over to Linebeck and set sail.
- Our next destination is in the northwest quadrant so use your cyclone slate to
quickly get over there. Sail on over to Bannan Island.
~ Bannan Island ~
- The small island just to the east of where the ship docks, has a treasure chest.
Use the grappling hook to get across and open it for yet another power gem.
Power Gem #16
Bannan Island
- Once Link has the grappling hook, he can access a small island just where Link
docks on Bannan Island. Hookshot over to it and open the chest to get the power
gem.
- Hook on over to the wooden peg above and head towards the old Wayfarer’s house.
Remember the clue we heard earlier? There is a secret just south of the house.
Use the shovel and dig in the ground just left of the sign. Out pops a treasure
map!
New Item: Treasure Map #21
Bannan Island
- This map shows the location of a sunken treasure in the
southwest quadrant of the Great Sea!
- Next, make your way through the cave that divides the island in two to get to
the east side. There is a wooden peg just to the right, near the small islands.
Use the grappling hook and create a tight rope between the two pegs. There are
two treasure chests in this area. Open the one on the left to get a big green
rupee, and then the one on the right to get a courage gem.
Courage Gem #15
Bannan Island
- Once Link has the grappling hook, he can access a pair of islands at the
northeast section of Bannan Island. Create a tight rope and you will see two
treasure chests. Open the one on the right to get the courage gem.
- Move to the top-left of this small island and you will see two wooden pegs.
Create a tightrope and slingshot your way over. Read the few statues here and
you will find there is a secret in between the treasures. Grapple back over to
the right and pull out the shovel. Dig right in between the two treasure chests
and Link will find a treasure map.
New Item: Treasure Map #22
Bannan Island
- This map shows the location of a sunken treasure in the
northeast quadrant of the Great Sea!
- Head back through the center cave to get back to the left side of the island.
Head on over to Lineback and set sail. We want to make one more stop at the
Uncharted Island.
~ Uncharted Island ~
- Immediately walk over to the cave that is in the center of the
island. Head down the small set of stairs and you will see a wooden peg. There
is another wooden peg across the large gap. Hook on over and then open the chest
that is here to get another courage gem.
Courage Gem #16
Uncharted Island Cave
- Once Link has the grappling hook, head on over to the Uncharted Island and enter
the cave that is in the center of the island. Just to the right there is a
wooden peg and then another wooden peg across the large gap. Hook on over and
you will see a treasure chest here as well. Open it up for the courage gem.
- Leave the cave and head back to Lineback. Set sail for Mercay Island.
~ Mercay Island ~
- Upon arriving you can make a stop at the shipyard to customize your ship, or stop at
the treasure shop to trade him some of your treasure. Once you are ready make
your way to the northwest part of the island and enter into the Temple of the
Ocean King.
- Now that we have both the bombchus and the grappling hook, there are several
treasures we can get in several of the floors. However, if you just want to
quickly get the sea chart you can skip ahead and just walk into the yellow
portal. If you’d like all the small treasures the temple has to offer head
straight and watch the Phantom Hourglass flip over.
- There is nothing new on the first floor so head straight down towards the
next floor. There is something new we can do and it is right by the entrance.
Just to your left is a wooden peg and there is another across the gap. Use the
grappling hook to create a tightrope in between the two pegs and climb aboard.
When you are in the center of the tight rope, equip your bow and arrow and shoot
the eye switch just above. It will create a treasure chest in the bottom right
corner of the room. It is a timed chest so quickly run on over and open it to
get a courage gem.
Courage Gem #17
Temple of the Ocean King - B1
- Right when you get down to floor B1, just to your left is a set of wooden
pegs. Create a tightrope between the pegs over the gap and jump on. Walk to the
middle and use your bow and arrow to hit the eye switch. Doing so creates a
treasure chest in the bottom-right corner of the room. Head on over and open it
for the courage gem.
- There is nothing else new on this floor so do just what you did before. Bomb
the blocks at the top, get the small key in the corner, open the locked door,
and head down to the floor below.
- Proceed through this room just as before as well. Hit the two switches to
drop the small key. Then bomb the cracked wall at the bottom for quicker access
to the key. Use the boomerang while you step on the switch to get the key.
Maneuver around the red phantom at the bottom and change the blocks to get to
the locked door.
- Before heading down, there is a new secret in the top-left corner. Bomb the
cracked wall like we have done before to get to the safe zone. Then wait until
the moving spike is on the left side and trace a bombchu through the small hole
and to the switch on the right. Hitting it will create a chest all the way on
the right side of the room. Once again, it is a timed chest so hurry and run on
over towards it. Open it up for a wisdom gem.
Wisdom Gem #16
Temple of the Ocean King - B2
- Trace a bombchu at the top-left corner of the room through the small hole to
hit the switch. A treasure appears all the way on the other side of the room. It
is a timed chest so quickly run on over and open the treasure chest for the gem.
- Now head back to the locked door, unlock it, and continue to the floor below.
- There is nothing new at all in this room, but with the grappling hook, there
is an awesome shortcut that will keep us from having to get all the force gems.
When the red phantom at the top-left is moving along the top corridor, run up
along the right side. At the top of the room stand against the wall and create a
tightrope between the two torches. Use it as a slingshot and launch yourself up
to the higher platform. Head up to the checkpoint chamber and break the yellow
pot for some extra time. Nothing new in here so just head down the steps to head
deeper into the temple.
- Once you arrive on this floor, head to the right and use the bow and arrow on
the eye statue against the wall to disable all the gust jars. Head back to the
northern safe zone and from there, use bombchus to blow up the nearby phantom
eye on the left. Then head left a bit and you will see there are two holes where
bombchus can travel through. Use one through the hole on the left and hit the
switch to lower the spikes on the right. Then use another one through the set of
holes at the top and it will lower the spikes in the top-left corner.
- Avoid the phantom and grab the small key that is on the right side of the
room. Instead of using it on the locked door at the bottom of the room like
before, use it at the top-left of the room on a new door. Head down the new set
of stairs to get to a previously unreachable area.
- Pull out your shovel and dig up the soft soil spot to create a geyser. Ride
it up to the higher platform and hit the switch to turn off the gust jar. Drop
down and open the chest to get a treasure map.
New Item: Treasure Map #23
Temple of the Ocean King - B5
- This map shows the location of a sunken treasure in the
southeast quadrant of the Great Sea!
- Head back up the geyser and hit the switch again to turn on the gust jar.
Drop down and use the extra just to jump across the gap. Head up the stairs here
to get down to the next floor.
- There is nothing new on this floor so just avoid the phantoms and phantom
eyes and make your way to the red door near the south of the room. Trace the
triangular triforce symbol just like before to open the door. Run through the
sacred crest chamber and down to the 7th basement.
- Ride the moving platforms to the top of the room. Instead of traveling to the
left, use the grappling hook on the treasure chest to the right. Don’t mind the
chest for now and just hook on over to the wooden peg on the right. Jump on top
of the wooden peg and then use the boomerang to hit the switch that is just
southeast of you on the higher platform. This creates a timed chest on the right
side of the room. Be careful not to be seen by the phantom and run on over to
the chest for another power gem. You have to be quick because it is a timed
chest.
Power Gem #17
Temple of the Ocean King - B7
- Stand on top of the wooden peg near the top-right of the room. Use the
boomerang and his the switch that is on the platform southeast of the peg. Doing
so creates a timed chest on the right side of the room. Avoid the phantom and
run on over to the chest. Open it to get the gem.
- Head back to the treasure chest on the north side of the room and open it for
the round crystal. Carefully avoid the two phantoms on the right as you carry it
to the stairs at the southeast part of the room.
- Now on the 8th basement, drop the round crystal and head up along the left
side, avoiding the phantom. Trace a bombchu through the small hole above and hit
the switch on the right. Doing so will open up the staircase at the northeast
portion of the room. Run back and grab the round crystal and head down the
steps.
- Run on over and toss the round crystal into the large safe zone at the top of
the room. Walk around the room, defeating the four wizzrobes that are in the
four corners of the room. Near the bottom of the room, hit the arrow switch with
a boomerang so it faces up. Then shoot an arrow into the switch to direct an
arrow into the eye switch. Doing so will lower the spikes near a safe zone on
the left side of the room. Walk on over to this area and wait for the nearby
phantom to be just to the right of you. Step on the switch to send him falling
through the hole. Pick up the square crystal and place it on the square pedestal
at the top-left of the room. Open the treasure chest just to the right to get
the triangle crystal. Carry it over to the large safe zone and then bring the
square crystal over as well.
- Remember, you have to place the crystals in the correct order. Place the
square one first, then the round crystal, and finally the triangle crystal. The
door will open above so head on through it. The elevator chamber will shake,
signifying it has moved upwards because you placed the blocks in the correct
order. Break the pots for some hearts and some more time. Head back down through
the door to finally get to a new area of the temple.
- Three phantom eyes and two gold phantoms patrol this area. Before even moving
from the safe zone, take out your bombchus and send them through the small hole
to the right. Blast away two of the nearby phantom eyes and also hit the crystal
switch on the right to lower some spikes on the left.
- The gold phantoms patrolling this room don’t move as quickly as the red
phantoms we met before, but they trick is, if you are seen by any of the
phantoms or phantom eyes, all of the gold phantoms in the room will warp and
surround Link. Stick close to the safe zones as you run about this room.
- One the phantom isn’t near dash to the right and you will see a set of wooden
pegs, each on higher platforms. Climb on top of the first peg and grapple over
to the next. Then climb on that one and grapple to the highest one in the safe
zone. There is a large boulder here. When the gold phantom is below you, push
the block off the ledge and it will role into the phantom, defeating him.
- Run on over to the safe zone at the top-left of the room to find another
large boulder. Once the phantom is below, roll the boulder down and it will
defeat the phantom and then roll into the pit below. The phantom will drop a
small key and a treasure chest will open in the room. Run on over and pick up
the small key.
- Near the bottom left of the room, there is a red pot. Break it to create a
small safe puddle and pull out your bombchus once again. Trace a bombchu through
the small hole below and straight up to another switch. Doing so will lower the
spikes along the right side of the room.
- Move on over to the south part of the room and use the grappling hook on the
wooden peg to get across the gap. There is a yellow pot in the bottom-right
corner of the room. Use the boomerang to break it and get some extra time into
your hourglass. Then hit the switch on the right side of the room to lower the
nearby spikes.
- Head back to the safe zone at the bottom of the screen. Just to the right
part of the wall above looks different than the rest. Place a bomb against this
area and it will blow up, giving us access to the inner part of the room.
- Run through the small gap and break the red pot that you see along your way.
Stand in the safe puddle and use a bombchu to defeat the final phantom eye in
this room. With all the enemies defeated, a large treasure chest appears near
the middle of the room.
- Move into the inner part of the room and to the bottom left of the small
rectangle. Step on the switch and the spikes on the left side of the room will
lower. Open the chest to get a big green rupee. There is a fallen warrior here
who points to the treasure chest and wonders how anybody is suppose to reach it.
- Walk outside of this rectangular maze back to the bottom of the room. Stand
on top of the wooden peg and use the grappling hook on the treasure chest above.
Hook on over and open the chest to get a red potion. Then drop down to the lower
area, unlock the door, and head down to the lower basement.
- Stand at the safe zone right at the floors entrance and use bombchus to
defeat all four of the phantom eyes in the room to create a treasure chest in
the corner of the room. When no phantoms are in your way, make your way over to
the treasure chest and open it for a treasure.
- Pull the lever just to your left and it will create a small bridge between
two higher platforms. Avoid the gold phantoms and creep your way to the
northwest part of the room to find another lever. Pull it and it will create
another small bridge between two nearby platforms. You can make a quick rest
stop using the red pot on the left.
- There is a soft soil spot just north of where you entered the floor. Dig it
up and take the geyser to the higher platform. On both sides there are stone
tablets and switches. That tablets both say to step on the four switches in the
room. Step on the two switches on these higher platforms and then jump down back
to the ground.
- Run on over to the central safe zone and once again pull out your bombchus.
Trace a bombchu to the bottom-right corner of the room where there is a crystal
switch. Hit it and it will temporarily make a bridge at the bottom-left of the
room. Quickly run to the area just left of the gap at the bottom of the room and
pull out your shovel.
Dig up the soft soil spot and get to the higher platform.
Run to the left and step on the third switch. If you have enough time run all
the way to the right and step on the fourth switch to open the door on the left
side of the room.
- Jump off the higher platform, avoid the phantoms, and head down the stairs on
the left side of the room.
- Immediate Ciela will jump in saying she has a feeling there is a clue ahead.
Just ignore her and pull the lever on the left to lower the spikes below. Use a
bombchu to explode the nearby phantom eye to clear this side of the room. Break
all the pots for some goodies and head to the top-left part of the temple.
- Lift the red pot here and toss in between the northwest safe zone and the
large safe zone to the right. Then open the treasure chest above to get a force
gem. Immediately after opening it a blue phantom appears in the center of this
area. Run on over to the safe zone you should created. When neither the blue or
gold phantoms are in your way run on over to the large safe zone and toss the
force gem into one of the triangles.
- Sneak by the gold phantom and make your way to the bottom right of the room.
There is a phantom eye in this area, try to keep your distance and stun it with
the boomerang or defeat it with the bombchu. Be careful, as the bombchu won’t be
able to travel over the strange area at the bottom of this area. Also be aware
that a wizzrobe should be hovering behind you.
- Once both of those are taken care of head to the top of the room and there is
another red pot as well as a treasure chest. There is a switch at the left,
which seemingly controls the raised spikes, but it is smashed in and Link can’t
press it.
Toss the red pot into the center of this square area. Open the chest
and a red phantom will appear. This one patrols the outer portions of this area.
When he is near the bottom, run on over to the puddle safe zone. Then when he is
near the top, head along the right wall and back to the bottom of the room.
Avoid the gold phantom and toss the second force gem into one of the triangles.
- Getting the second force gem into the triangle will cause another wizzrobe to
appear at the bottom-right of the room. Draw him closer by facing the other
direction and then defeat the wizzrobe just before it is going to hit Link.
Now
with both wizzrobes gone, a treasure chest appears on the safe zone at the left.
Run on over and open it to get a ship part.
- The third and final force gem is being held by the gold phantom. Sneak up
behind him and nail him with your sword in the back to stun him, or keep your
distance and hit him in the back with an arrow.
Either way he will be stunned
and drop the force gem. Lift it up and carry it over to the third triangle. Once
all three triangles have fallen into the ground, the door above will open so
head down the steps.
- The treasure chest is in the center of the room. Unlike previous rooms with
sea charts, time is still moving here, so run on over and open the chest to get
the 4th sea chart!
New Item: Sea Chart #4
Temple of the Ocean King - B13
- Make it to the 13th basement of the Temple of the Ocean King and the treasure
chest is just waiting right there for you. Open it up to get the 4th sea chart.
This sea chart reveals the northeast quadrant of the Great Sea.
- A blue warp portal appears at the top-left of the room. Run on over and walk
into it to warm to the temple's entrance chamber. Leave the chamber and head back
to our good friend Linebeck. Show him what you got and then set sail.
