Heart Containers
 - For every single Zelda title to date, (minus Adventure of Link), the heart system has been Link's form of health and it is no different in Phantom Hourglass. Link begins his quest with the typical 3 heart containers but going through the main quest and side quests, he can reach a full 16 heart containers.

 - One noticeable difference in Phantom Hourglass is that it has returned to the roots of the Zelda series with no heart pieces, but only heart containers. In previous Zelda titles Link would get heart containers, but he would also get heart pieces. You would need 4 or 5 heart pieces to make up a full heart container. This isn't the case in Phantom Hourglass.

 - Another difference is that Linebeck's Ship also has it's own heart/health system. Link can increase the health of his ship as well. For a more detailed guide to Link's ship, fiew the Ship Parts Guide.

Then use your boomerang and toss it out into the water until a mermaid pops out and you hit her. Once hit, speak to the OldWwayfarer, then to Linebeck, and then to the Old Wayfarer once again and Link will be awarded with the fishing rod.

-Link can now sail the seas and a fish symbol appears. Sail on over to these locations and click your fishing rod to fish. Link must first catch three fish, a skippyjack, a toona, and a lover. Skippyjack's appear very often while lover's can be quite rare. Just keep fishing around until you have caught all three.

-Once all three are caught, show them off to the Old Warfarer and he will give you the Big Catch Lure. Now Link will be able to catch a rusty swordfish. Return to the waters and fish around until you have caught a swordfish. These guys are huge and will take some time to find one. Show this fish off to the Old Wayfarer and he will talk about a rare legendary fish, Neptoona.

-Now when Link is sailing, a large swordfish symbol will periodically appear in the water. Sail on over and use your fishing rod. More the time they will be rusty swordfish, but Link has a chance to run into a Neptoona. Once he does, show it off to the Old Wayfarer and he will present you with a Heart Container.
