The game starts out with some brief history of the Legend and the Mystical Sword. Princess Zelda walks to Links house and talks to Master Smith about taking Link to the Picori Festival. Master Smith calls for Link who is a sleep. You then will take control of Link. Once you wake up simply head down the stairs and then head right a room to get to Princess Zelda and Master Smith.
Afer talking with them for a moment, Master Smith will give you the Smith's Sword to deliver to the castle. Princess Zelda is in a hurry to get to the festival and will leave the house asking you to follow her.
After the conversation is over, open the chest here to get a whole 20 rupees! Then head left a screen and exit the house from the bottom. It will show Princess Zelda at the left of the house. Simply follow her and head up to the festival.
She will be excited and run ahead. Simply follow her around the festival. The fourth stop they'll she'll go to is a prize raffle in which Princess Zelda wins. She gest to choose a price and chooses a small shield in which she gives to Link. Link then equipts it and Princess Zelda says its perfect for him. Afterwords you will control Link with Zelda following you so simply head all the way up.
On the next screen she will once again head up ahead of Link. There is a buisness scrub blocking the way and it shoots a deku nut and hits Princess Zelda. If you've played just about any Zelda from Ocarina of Time and on you will know to defeat this guy you just hold out your shield and the Deku Nut will bounce back and hit him and stun him. He will then vanish so you can pass towards the castle. Head up into the castle courtyard and continue heading up.
Talk to Potho at the entrance to the castle and he will take the sword which Link had to deliver. He says we are just in time for award ceremony. The award ceremony takes place and Vaati is the winner. He brakes the Legendary Sword and opens the chest letting all the monsters that were trapped inside out. Vaati will then turn Princess Zelda into a Stone and knock Link to the ground. He will then vanish after seeing there is nothing else in the chest.
The next scene will show Link sleeping again. Wake up and head left a screen and talk with the King. THe King will talk about the Picori and then sends Link to get a new Sacred Sword to turn Princess Zelda back to human. The King will then give Link the Broken Picori Blade.
The King will also give you the Smith's Sword. He will then send the soldiers out to search for Vaati. He tells you to head towards the Minish Woods as well.
You are also given a Map of Hyrule with the Minish Woods marked. Afterwords just head down a screen, around the next room, and then down once again to exit the castle. Head south out of the Hyrule Castle Courtyard to enter North Hyrule Field. The Bridge leading back to Hyrule Town has been destroyed. The Carpenters are there to repair things. For now head right a screen to enter Lon Lon Ranch. Not much you are able to do here so just head all the way down a screen.
You then enter the Eastern Hills. Head down the stairs here. and head down and you will see a small bridge on your right. Go accross the bridge to enter into the Minish Woods. Head all the way right and accross a narrow bridge here. Then head all the way down until you get to a treest stump. Head left and then up and then left again until the screen freezes and you will here somebody calling for help back at the bridge we just crossed. It will show a small scene of octoroks shooting at him. Once Link is in control again head left a bit more and grab the Heart Container thats in the corner.
Now head back all the way to the area where the hat object was calling for help. After some short speech help him out by killing to Octoroks. After defeating them you will have a short conversation and find out that his name is Ezlo. Walk away and he will get angry for you moving to fast. Do so again and he will get angry again. Then he decides to sit on top of Links head and follow him on your journey. Now head down all the way back to the tree stump we saw earliar.
Ezlo will stop you and talk to you about the Minish, which are the same thing as the Picori. He will tell you that the Minish are actually extremely tiny. The tree stump is actually a way to make Link tiny enough to see the Minish. Jump on top of the Tree Stump and press R. After a small scene, Link will now be Tiny. Ezlo will tell you that these tree stumps are all over the land. There are a lot more dangers of being tiny now. Simple things such as high grass and small puddles now are hazards towards Link. Once you can control Link head left and now you can go through the little tunnel that was to small to go through before.
There is a area of water here and in order to get by Link needs to get on the lily pad and ride it across. Just head passed this area here and head up to enter Minish Village. A bunch of Minish will gather around you say a couple things and then they will all spread out amongst the village. The Minish have their own language and Link doesn't understand what they are saying.
You cannot go into any of the houses in the village, so for now just head all the way up and enter the huge building with a blue rook on it. Talk to Festari here and he will tell you you need a Jabber Nut. Exit the house and cross the bridge then head directly to the top-right of the screen and head right here. Grab the Piece of Heart that is waiting for you.
Now head back left a screen. Once you get back to the blue house, head down from the passage on the right. You will get to a brown bridge, where you should head right and go down the stairs here. Head to the top of this room and you will see a typical Zelda puzzle here. Simply just push the block in the middle to either the left or right so you can get by.
The little thing at the top-left of the room is the Jabber Nut. The Jabber Nut will now allow Link to be able to understand the language of the Minish. Afterwords heed back outside. All the Minish around will now speak to you so if you would like you could take some time and see what the have to say. Afterwords, simply head all the way to the top-left of the Village. There are some stairs here which lead to a Yellow-roofed house.
Talk to the guy in here and he will tell you that you need to collect four elemental stones in order to forge your blade. He marks on your map where all four of them are located. He tells you that the first one is located in Deepwood Shrine, which is being guarded by Festari. Simply exit the building now, head back to the right and enter the blue-roofed building and talk to Festari here and he will let you pass. Once outside the village head up through the tunnel and then continue up through the little hole here. The building just ahead is Deepwood Shrine. Walk into it and it will take you to a zoomed in shot. Continue into your first dungeon, Deepwood Shrine
