~The Great Moblin and Crown Key~|
Use the Gale Seeds and warp on over to the ember tree found just south of Lynna City. If you haven't activated this tree yet, then just slowly make your way back to Lynna City via the way of the Carpenters.
Now make your way towards Nayru's House. From the ember seed tree, go up, right, up two times, right, and up.
Use the Tune of Echoes to activate the portal here and head to the past.
Go left a screen, jump over the holes, and then head right along the right path.
Go up, left, and then use the switch hook on the diamond to get across the large gap. Continue left a screen.
The cave is blocked, so instead, play the Tune of Currents and return to the present.
Enter the cave and walk right a screen. There are two staircases, take the bottom staircase and then head left a screen.
There are two more staircases that are now accessible. Take the one that is on the left screen and then exit the cave.
Walk right three screens and lift the rock here to reveal a warp portal. Play the Tune of Echoes and return to the past.
Walk three screens to the left and then head up a screen to find some new seeds. Slash at the Pegasus seeds to get them. These will allow Link to run for a short period of time.
Use the Tune of Currents to return to the present.
Walk down a screen, right a screen, up the steps, and head up a screen. Enter the Great Moblin's Palace found here.
Use the Pegasus seeds that you got and quickly run through this room before the ground caves in on you.
Climb up two sets of steps to take on the Great Moblin.
The Moblin will toss bombs out at you. Lift the large bomb up with the power bracelet. Once it starts flashing red, quickly toss it at the great moblin and it will blow up. Just keep repeating this same process until you've defeated the great moblin.
After a short scene showing the great moblin run off, the Gorons will thank you and reward you with a Bomb Flower.
Go down a screen, right two screens, and use the portal here once again to return to the past.
Walk left two screens and then jump off the ledge at the bottom part of the screen.
Now head left and enter this cave. With the bomb flower in hand, walk over to the Gorons and agree to let them use it.
After the Goron Elder has been saved, he will reward you with the Crown Key.
Make your way through this linear cave to get back to the peak of Rolling Ridge.
Go right a screen, up a screen, and then use the Tune of Currents to get back to the present.
In place of the Great Moblin's Palace there is now a cave and a staircase. Enter the cave.
Use a combination of the Pegasus seeds and the roc's feather in order to jump over the larger gaps. Continue right a screen and make your way through the room before exiting the cave at the southeast corner of the screen.
Walk to the left a screen and use the Crown Key on the locked door and enter Level 5: Crown Dungeon.
Go up a screen and fight the three moblins here. Defeat them and head up another screen.
Ignore the crystal switch and the enemies and head left two screens.
Go up a screen and defeat the four moblins found in this room and a staircase will appear, head down it.
Defeat the enemies and then use the switch hook a number of times so that the diamond switch is on top of the floor switch. Go down a screen.
Climb the steps to get back to the floor above.
Go down two screens, hit the crystal switch, and then head right a screen.
There are three switches in this room. Stand directly left of the top switch and pull out your seed shooter. Shoot a seed diagonally to the bottom-right, so that it banks off the left, then top, and then right switch. If you hit all three of them with one seed, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a treasure chest and then return left a screen.
Hit the switch to lower the red blocks. However, before heading up a screen use the seed shooter or switch hook to raise the red blocks. Then head up a screen.
Cross the blue blocks, head up a screen, and then head back down the staircase found here.
Open the treasure chest here to get a second small key and then head back up the steps.
Walk back two screens to the right and then use your seed shooter to hit the switch, causing the red blocks to drop. In this room, hit the switch again to lower the blue blocks and then head right along the bottom pathway.
Follow this path by going right once and down two screens.
Defeat the enemies in this room, and then you can head to the room to the right to get the dungeon map. Then use the small key and head through the locked door on the left.
Go down the steps and defeat the zol here. Then pull out the seed shooter with some ember seeds and bank them off the rotating panels so that the four torches in this room will light up. Go through the door to the left.
Step on the floor switch and a series of colored tiles appear. There are colored statues on the left side of this room and you need to push them so they are in the same spots as shown when stepping on the switch. Push the blocks so that they match the right side and then open the treasure chest to get the Cane of Somaria.
Backtrack right a screen and then climb the stairs.
There are four floor switches on this room and three statues. Push the three statues on three of the floor switches and then use the cane of somaria to place a block on the fourth switch. Open the treasure chest that appears to get another small key and then head back right a screen.
Go up a screen, up the steps and then jump off the ledge to the right. Go down the staircase.
Avoid the beamos statues while lifting up the pots in this room. Go down the other staircase on the west side of the room to reach an underground area.
Defeat the keese as you go through this area. Place a block using the Cane of Somaria to act as a step and then jump top of it with roc's feather and head right.
Repeat this same method on the next screen and then head back up the steps to resurface.
Use the seed shooter a number of times to raise and lower the blocks by hitting the switch in the middle. With the red blocks lowered, head up a room.
There are two statues in this room that move in unison when pushed. The goal is to move them so both are on the red tiles. Pull out the Cane of Somaria and place a block on the right side of the bottom statue. Then push the top statue to the right four times. Now put a block just below the statue that is now on the left, and then push the block on the right down twice. They are now perfectly apart from one another, so push either block up once and left twice and they will land on the red blocks. Open the treasure chest to get a small key and then head back down a screen.
Use the seed shooter once again to go through this room. However, before heading down the steps, make sure the blow blocks are lowered.
Go through the underground area and then through the room with the beamos statues once again. At the end of the beamos room, go up the steps to get back to the main floor.
Now head up a screen and left two screens.
Hit the crystal switch here to lower the red blocks. Then head back right a screen and go down the stairs.
Hit the crystal switch a few times and make your way left a screen.
Avoid the enemies and go down the staircase at the far left of this room.
Go through this underground sequence and resurface to find yourself in a dark room.
In order to navigate through this room, you must place a block down with the cane of somaria and push it to find where the actual floor is located. There is a diamond on the platform you are standing on, from there, we want to head directly to the right. Walk THREE spaces into the dark and then head down. Walk down SIX spaces and then turn left. Walk TWO spaces left and ONE space down. Now walk SIX spaces left and turn northward. Finally, walk THREE spaces up and THREE spaces to the right to reach the treasure chest. Open it to get another small key! Use the Switch hook on the diamond and then head back down the steps.
Backtrack through this underground area and resurface on the left side. Go right a screen and then back up the stairs, making sure the red blocks are lowered.
Go back left a screen and hit the switch to raise the red blocks again.
With four small keys in hand, head right three screens and pull out the roc's feather and some Pegasus boots. Use them in combination to jump over the gaps and head through the locked door on the right to take on the dungeon mini-boss.
The mini-boss here is known as Smasher, a familiar boss from Link's Awakening. When he tosses his bowling ball, move out of the way and then lift it up using the power bracelet. Toss the ball back at him to hurt him. The ball will occasionally disappear and a new one will fall from the ceiling. Just repeat this same process over and over until smashes has been defeated. Grab the fairy and head up a screen.
Defeat the enemy and then place a block using the can of somaria on the floor switch to create a bridge. Cross the bridge and you can use the switch hook to get the compass in the treasure chest if you'd like. Go down the steps at the north end of the room.
Go through this side-scrolling section and then head down the steps at the far right portion.
There are four moblins in this room. You can just avoid them and head up the staircase at the north end of the room.
Make sure the blue blocks are lowered and then stand on top of the blocks. Then use the switch hook or seed shooter to hit the switch, raising the blue blocks while you are still standing on top of them. While standing on the blocks, go left and then down a screen.
Unlock the block and head up a screen. Walk over the lowered red blocks and head left.
Unlock the block and hit the switch to raise the red blocks. Now go to the bottom-right of the room, climb the steps, and then jump off, landing on top of the red blocks. Go right a screen and then up a screen.
Avoid the beamos and darknut and head down the stair-case at the top-right part of the room.
Use the seed shooter or switch hook to lower the blocks and head left a screen. If the red blocks are lowered you can get a treasure chest, but you need the blue blocks lowered.
In the next room, with the blue blocks lowered, head down the stairs.
Use the cane of somaria to create a block and then jump on over to the right side of the room. Climb the steps here.
In this room, you must move all 8 blocks so they surround the owl statue.
YELLOW – Start off by just pushing the Yellow blocks left three times to get all three of them in place.
RED – Push either of the Red blocks UP once. Then use the cane of somaria to place a block to the right of the Red block that is next to the owl statue. Then push the other red block one to the right. Walk around the room and push the Blue block down one. Walk back around the room and push the red block UP once, and RIGHT twice. Now use the cane of somaria again and place a block just below the red block next to the owl statue. Finally, push the second red block down once to get it next to the owl statue.
BLUE – Push the blue blocks RIGHT four times to get one of them in place. Then push one of the blue blocks DOWN once. Push the lower blue block RIGHT twice, and UP once to get it in place. Place a block with the cane of somaria underneath this blue block you just put in. Now push the final remaining blue block UP once, RIGHT three times, and DOWN once, completing the puzzle.
Open the treasure chest to get the boss key. Exit the room and go back through the underground sequence.
Once you resurface head right a screen, jump off the ledge, and go back up the staircase, making sure the blue blocks are lowered.
Go down a screen, climb the steps, jump off the ledge, landing on the red blocks, and then head down a screen.
Climb the steps and head down a screen.
Jump off the ledge and left a screen to get back to near the entrance of the dungeon.
Go back right along the bottom path. Continue right a second screen, then down twice, and right a screen.
Use the boss key on the locked door and head right to take on the dungeon boss, Smog.
Smog will separate itself into smaller creatures and your goal is to use the Cane of Somaria to force them to merge together, at which point you can just slash away with your sword. The first phase is quite simple as just one block will cause them to merge. Do so and slash at Smog with your sword. During the second phase, you need to merge two of the Smog so the larger version is in the middle platform. You can move the smog from left to right by putting down two consecutive blocks with the cane, but you must be quick otherwise they will reset. Merge the third smog and slash away with your sword. The third phase again requires you to place consecutive blocks, so do just that. The fourth and final phase is a big more difficult as there is more ground to cover. Create a block near the top-right of the room so that the smog will make its way to the lone block. Quickly use the Cane of Somaria so it stops right there and just circles around this block. It will eventually merge with the middle smog. Bring this large smog over to the large area in the middle and then bring the smog from the left side over to merge them together.
After all four phases have been defeated, grab the heart container that is left for you and head up a screen.
Get the Sacred Soil, the 5th essence of time.
The Maku Tree will then tell you there is another essence echoing near Rolling Ridge. You'll find a Goron who dug a new tunnel that led to where you are, how convenient. We'll tackle that section in the next chapter.
