1.1 Boy Without A Fairy
Items Equipment Enemies
Deku Stick Kokiri Sword
Deku Shield
Withered Deku Baba
 - After watching a lengthy movie with a tree that won't shut up and the introduction of your annoying companion, Link will arise from his slumber. After you've gained control, head for the door on the left.

 ~ Kokiri Village ~

 - Outside, you'll see your childhood friend, Saria. Climb down the ladder and speak with her if you wish. She'll exclaim her excitement about you finally having a fairy and being summoned by the Deku Tree. Speaking of which, we can't actually see him yet. We need to get a few things.
 - Using your map in the lower right corner of your screen (Press L if you can't see it), head to the southwest corner of the village. You'll find an area up the ramp with many fences. Against the wall, there's a small hole. Stand in front of it and press A to crawl through it.

 - Hold forward until you reach the other side. You'll emerge in a small area with large boulder rolling in circles. Wait until it passes and follow it to reach the opposite corner. Open the large chest you find.

New Equipment: Kokiri Sword Kokiri Village (Past)
 - This is the basic weapon you use early on in the game. It's dependable, but it does little damage and doesn't have very much range either.

 - That's just dandy. To put on this puppy, press Start and press Z and R until you get to the Equipment subscreen. Once there, select the sword and press A to equip it. Sweet.
 - Make your way back to the village, avoiding the boulder along the way of course.

 - Now that you have a weapon, go wander around and speak with the people to learn how to play the game. If you don't care or already know, just skip to collecting Rupees: our next goal.
 - There's Rupees everywhere in this town and many ways to get them. Walk through the tall grass, slash bushes, look behind the houses, make your way up the bridge above you, jumping from platform to platform in the water, etc. An easy, and lazy way to get money is to enter the house across from the Shop on the far end of the village and throw the far jar against the wall repeatedly. It will drop a blue Rupee (5) each time.
 - Once you have 40 Rupees, enter the Shop and purchase a Deku Shield. Ignore the other goodies, we'll get them for free later.

New Equipment: Deku Shield Kokiri Village (Past)
 - This is the simple shield you get early on. Lightweight, dependable, but vulnerable to fire.

 - Be sure to press Start and equip this one too, I usually forget... Anyway, go back outside and this time head towards the Deku Tree. If you use your map, it's pretty obvious which way to go. On the way, you'll be impeded by an obnoxious little fellow named Mido who arrogantly talks about himself. After shoving your new goodies in his face, he'll move, allowing you to continue.

 - Head forward and you'll abruptly be confronted by Withered Deku Babas. These things are harmless, kill them to find your first Deku Stick.

Withered Deku Baba
Threat

Attacks
Contact
 - These stick enemies are incredibly pathetic. They do nothing but spin around and can only hurt you if you touch them. Kill them with anything and they'll drop Deku Sticks.

New Item: Deku Stick Kokiri Village (Past)
 - A simple stick. You can use it to smack enemies with or light the tips of them to use as a torch to light other things.

 - Move a little further to commence a speech from the yawn of a tree. After he blabs away, enter his mouth...?

1.2 Inside The Deku Tree
Items Gold Skulltulas Enemies
Deku Nut
Fairy Slingshot
Deku Seed
Skulltula Token

#3
Deku Baba
Skullwalltula
Big Skulltula
Gold Skulltula
Gohma Larva

 - After you enter, go ahead and practice your Z targeting and shielding techniques on the Deku Babas nearby. They can be killed easily by holding your shield and attacking in between their strikes. You'll probably pick up some of the Deku Nuts they drop as well.

Bite
 - These venis fly trap-like enemies pose more of a threat than their wiggly counterpart. Their long, thin bodies allow them to stretch forward and snap at you quickly. Use your shield to get close and slice them in between strikes.

New Item: Deku Nut Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - Throw these puppies on the ground to stun nearby enemies. Very useful, use them often.

 - Make note of the web in the floor, then climb up either the nearby ladder or the vines on the wall. If you choose the vines, Navi will rant about their climbable nature. Once on top, head around the corner and open the chest to find the Dungeon Map. Press L to show or remove the map. There's one in every dungeon.
 - We can't climb the nearby vines yet due to the Skullwalltulas (spiders), so head right, jumping across the platforms. You'll come to a door, which Navi will exclaim you can open using the A button. Do so.

 - In this next room, use Z targeting and use R (shield) to reflect the Deku Scrub's Deku Nuts back at him.

Attacks
Deku Nut
 - These bushy enemies will burrow into their nests to avoid damage. Use ranged attacks or reflect their nuts back at them with your shield to force them out of their nests. Kill them before they can return to it.

 - Rush over and touch him before he tries to get back in his nest to learn some handy info. If you hold the forward in the direction you're facing when falling, you'll roll when you hit the ground to avoid damage.
 - Go through the next door.

 - In this room, there's a platform that will crumble when you touch it. You can jump on it and use it to get to the opposing platform, or you can jump down (or simply fall) and climb up the vines. Either way, at the top, open the chest to find our dungeon item.

New Item: Fairy Slingshot Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - Equip it to (C) and shoot stuff with Deku Seeds. Although it's somewhat weak, it has great range and speed.

New Item: Deku Seed Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - This ammunition for your Slingshot can be found in bushes and occasionally inside chests. There are upgrades to be found that allow you to carry more as well.

 - There's some vines leading up to a chest with a Recovery Heart inside. Either way, our next objective is to get back to the main room. If you already touched the platform, you'll have to shoot the ladder against the wall (Navi will fly over to it) which leads back to the previous room. Anyway, shoot it and it'll drop down. Climb up and out.
 - Go back through this room.

Charge
 - These spiders are found only on vertical surfaces. If you get too close, they will rush towards you and knock you off the wall.
 - Use ranged weapons to show them who's boss.

 - We're back in the main room. Head back to the chest where we got the Dungeon Map. Shoot the Skullwalltulas on the vines and climb up them. At the top, either go left or right, then press A to drop down onto the platform.
 - Now that we're on the third level, start making your way around. You'll probably notice the Big Skulltulas here, which are vulnerable from the backside. Wait for them to turn around and either stab them with your sword, shoot them, or stun them with Deku Nuts.

Spin
 - These giant skull spiders are very territorial. Although very limited in movement, they pose quite the obstacle and are awkward to defeat.
 - Only their backside is vulnerable, so wait until they turn around and strike them with your weapon of choice.

 - Make your way to the door and enter.

 - In this room, step on the switch to make the platforms rise. Use them to reach the opposing platform and open the chest to find the Compass. These items show where elevators, chests and the bosses are in each of the dungeons.

Skulltula #1 (Ocarina of Time) Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - When in the room where you get the Compass, use the switch to make the platforms rise, then jump to the alcove on the left. The Skulltula is against the wall, behind the small chest.

Gold Skulltula
Threat

Attacks
Contact
 - These spiders are part of a curse that keeps a family in Kakariko in the form of Skulltulas. Defeat them and collect their tokens to get nifty rewards.

New Item: Skulltula Token Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - Collect these mystical tokens after defeating the Gold Skulltulas to slowly break the curse of the Skulltula Family.

 - To clarify, there are 100 Gold Skulltulas scattered throughout Hyrule that will drop tokens when you kill them. After collecting a certain amount of tokens, you will break the curse for certain individuals who have become spiders themselves and they will give you rewards. Although it's only really worth it to get up to 50, it's quite the challenge to get all 100, and as such, I will be listing all of them in this guide.

 - In any case, jump down, climb up the vines, and you'll notice the door is blocked back to the main room. This can be easily rectified by lighting one of your Deku Sticks using the nearby torch by simply standing next to it. Now, run over and touch the tip of your lit stick on the other torch (you don't have to swing it). Go through the now opened door.

 - Alright, so, you may have tried jumping onto the circular cobweb on the floor earlier from a higher level and it bounced like a trampoline. Well, kill one of the Big Skulltulas up here on the top level, and use its little overhang to jump over top of the cobweb. If you land close to the middle of it, it will burst through, allowing you to fall into the next area of the dungeon.

Skulltula #2 (Ocarina of Time) Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
Requires: Fairy Slingshot

 - After you fall down the hole that was covered with the cobweb in the main room, look back at the vines leading back up to the entrance. Use the Slingshot to kill it, climb the vines to grab the token.

Skulltula #3 (Ocarina of Time) Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
 - After you fall down the hole that was covered with the cobweb in the main room, check out the grate at one side of the water to find a lone spider there. Kill it with anything, then jump from the nearby ledge to grab the token.

View Gold Skulltula Guide

 - Climb up the nearby ledge and step on the switch to make the torch light, burning the cobwebs surrounding it. Whip out a Deku Stick, light it, then jump into the shallow water. Use this to get to the opposing platform with the Deku Baba. Run past it and set the cobwebs covering a door on fire. Go through.

 - In this small room, reflect the Deku Nut back at the Scrub and chase him down. He'll reveal a nice tid-bit of information for later on. Next, we need to get through the closed door. Shoot the silver eye switch above the door to make it open.

 - This next room is filled with water, and there's a platform going back and forth underneath a spiked log. Unfortunately, the water is too high for you to pass under it, so jump in the water and swim over to the switch that's underwater. Press and hold A to dive, as Navi noted moments earlier.
 - With the water level temporarily lower, run back up the ledge and jump onto the platform as soon as possible. Once you reach the other side, jump up to the platform.
 - Here, you'll have to kill the Big Skulltula, then use A while standing next to the block to push or pull it. After that, walk against it and press A to climb it. Now climb up and through the door.

 - This next tiny room is filled with Deku Babas. Stock up on some Deku Sticks, then light both of the torches using a Stick to open the door.

 - In this large room, you'll abruptly be confronted by a Big Skulltula above you. If you stand back far enough, you can shoot him from behind without him coming down. Go forward and watch out for the Gohma Larva that fall from the ceiling. You can shoot their egg sacks on the ceiling to kill them before they even appear.

Jump
 - These two legged enemies that look like some freakish bug robot will change color shortly before they jump at you.
 - They can be killed with two strikes of your sword, but also can be killed with one hit before they hatch from their eggs. Take advantage of that when possible.

 - Once all these foes are defeated, whip out a Deku Stick and light it on the torch. Head to the far side of the room to burn the cob webs (there are those other spider webs nearby, but we can't do anything with that yet). Crawl through the small hole.

 - We're back in the bottom half of the main room. You'll notice a block off to the side. Grab it and push it into the shallow water bellow, creating a shortcut. Now, our next objective is to get through the cobweb. We can't jump through this one, so we'll have to burn it. The nearby torch is too high, but the other one we used earlier isn't.
 - Using our shortcut (block), go back to the lower area and light a Deku Stick on the torch we used ages ago. Jump back across using the block, climb up, then run over to the new cobweb and either swing your Deku Stick or roll using A to set the web on fire.

 - Now that we've fallen into a pool of water (dive for the nearby Recovery Hearts if you need them), get out and witness our new task. There are three Deku Scrubs shooting at us, but when you reflect their shots back at them, they instead get stunned. After you stun them all, they revert back to normal.
 - Using the code the Deku Scrub gave you earlier, 2, 3, 1, annihilate them in that order, from left to right.
 - After you've done so, the last one will run around. Chase him down to learn another useful secret about the upcoming boss. Make sure you're full on health and enter the door.

Dungeon Boss: Parasitic Armored Arachnid, Gohma Inside The Deku Tree (Past)
Navi:
 "Gohma.
It's one of those parasitic monsters
inside the Deku Tree! Its eye is
vulnerable when its red!"

Threat:
Attacks:
  Lunges at you.
  Gohma Larva.

 - At the start of the battle, use either C-up or your Slingshot to look up at the queen on the ceiling, which will begin the battle. Although she looks pretty intimidating, she's a piece of cake.

 - Her main attack is to wobble towards you and then try to basically fall on top of you, which can be easily defended against using your shield or simply moving out of the way. Her other form of offense is to climb onto the ceiling and make three eggs, which will fall to the ground and hatch to become Gohma Larva after a short bit.

 - The Larva are easily defeated with two sword swipes, but they can be killed quickly by simply slashing their egg once before they hatch.

 - To harm Gohma, you have to use either Deku Nuts or your Slingshot when her eye is red (right before either of her "attacks"). This will cause her to fall down and be vulnerable to your sword. Of them all, the Slingshot is by far the most effective.

 - The easiest way to defeat her is to simply wait for her to climb on the ceiling. Her eyes turn red when she's... giving birth... So simply keep her Z/L targeted and shoot her. She'll fall down and be stunned for a very long time. Slash away my friend.

Summary:
 - Use Z/L targeting, defend against her main attack with your shield. Shoot her with Fairy Slingshot whenever her eyes turn red to stun her (especially on the ceiling). Slash away. Repeat.

 - After she's been defeated, grab the nearby Heart Container, which will extend your life energy by a whole heart! Afterwards, step into "the light" to leave this dungeon.eon.
