Ocarina of Time: Upgrades - Legend of Zelda News, Guides, and Media

NOTE: This covers every upgrade, which includes swords, shields, deku bullet bags, guantlets, bomb bags, quivers, and deku sticks. There isn't any order these must be done.

Bomb Bags

Upgrade #1 - Find the big rolling goron as a kid in Goron City and blow him up under the ceiling part of that floor. He will give you a big bomb bag. I suggest getting this one after you get out of Dodongo's Cavern.

Upgrade #2 - Go to the Bombchu Bowling Alley in the market and play to get the upgrade. It may take awhile, so at least bring 200 rupees with you if you never played it before. You will get the biggest bomb bag for winning when the prize is a bomb bag. Remember that you will not get the biggest bomb bag if you skip Upgrade #1.

Deku Bullet Bags

Upgrade #1 - Go into the Lost Woods from Kokiri Forest and go to the right. Hit the big wooden circle in the middle three times to get a deku scrub to come out and give you the upgrade.

Upgrade #2 - In the market, go to the place with an arrow over it. Play the game and get ten of the rupees hit. You will get the upgrade as a prize.

Deku Sticks

Upgrade #1 - Go left twice from the start of the Lost Woods from Kokiri Forest and jump down. Go to the end of the screen and hit the guy to make hit surrender and offer you the upgrade for 40 rupees.

Gauntlets

Upgrade #1 (Silver Gauntlets) - Once you go into Spirit Temple as a child, navigate your way through the dungeon until you meet an Iron Knuckle (Big Ax Guy). Defeat him and walk through the door that opens to the outside. Collect your Gauntlets from the chest.

Upgarde #2 (Golden Gauntlets) - In Ganon's Tower, these are located in the shadow part of the dungeon. You need to light up the torch to see where you are going to get to the big chest and collect the gauntlets.

Quivers

Upgrade #1 - Go to Kakariko Village as an adult and play the shooting game for 20 rupees. Get all ten of the rupees hit and earn your Quiver. You cannot get the upgrade for the quiver unless you have the bow.

Upgrade #2 - Once you have saved all four carpenters in Garudo Valley, bring Epona up the hill behind the fortress and play the game for 20 rupees. Get 1000 the first time to get a heart piece, then play again and get 1500 points to get the biggest quiver. Bring lots of money if you aren't get at shooting arrows.

Shields

Upgrade #1 (Hylian Shield) - Get the shield in the market at the shop with the guys face above it for 80 rupees.

Upgrade #2 (Mirror Shield) - Once an adult and in Spirit Temple, navigate your way to the chest outside on the hand and collect the mirror shield.

Swords

Upgrade #1 (Master Sword) - Get this from the Temple of Time once you open the Door of Time. This is your default sword as an adult.

Upgrade #2 (Biggoron Sword) - Get this one from the trading sequence as an adult. This sword requires two hands to hold it. It is twice as strong as the Master Sword.
