Head right and the owl will show up giving his usual useless advice. He will tell that you need to head to the desert. After he's done talking make your way north-east several screens as you were going to the castle. When you reach the screen with the two holes in the ground with the sign that says the castle is 50 paces north head down two screens. Enter the little maze area with the moblins and head down a screen. Lift the rock here using the Power Bracelet and you will find the 7th Secret Seashell.
Head back up and right a screen. Cut down the bush on this screen and it will reveal a staircase. Head down the stairs and head right a screen. Dash past the crystal blocks with te pegasus boots and head back up the stairs. You will now be on the other side of the water. From here head down two screens and right a screen to enter Animal Village. Animal Village consists of four screens. You can walk around town and talk to some of the animals to get some information. Then head to the bottom-left screen of the village and make your way down. Keep going until you see a Walrus blocking your way to the right. That's the way you need to go to get to the desert but it is being blocked.
Head back to Animal Village and to the bottom-right part of the village. Head down and left a screen and you will see a strange portal that we saw before. Jump in it and it will take you to the other portal. This should ease up travel time from now on. Head left two screens to get back to Maybe Village. Head up a screen and lift the rocks to enter the house here. Jump into bed and you will fall asleep to a dream world. Use the pegasus boots to dash around the room and defeating the enemies. At the end of the road is a chest that contains 100 rupees. Head back down a screen and dash through the block here. Head up and there is another chest here. This one contains the Ocarina! Exit the cave and Link will awaken.
Leave the house and head down and left a screen to get to Marin. Talk to her and she will teach you the Ballad of the Wind Fish. Afterwards head right three screens. Pass the portal and head right, up, and right another screen. You will see Tarin waiting here.
Talk to Tarin and he will use the stick you got from the monkeys to knock down the bee hive here. Tarin will hit the hive and the bees will chase him off the screen. The beehive will fall, so head over and pick it up. The stick caught the bee hive and became the Honeycomb. Head back to the portal and jump in it to get back to Animal Village.
Head right and up to enter the actual village and enter the house here. There is a bear that is cooking here. Talk to him and he will take the Honeycomb from you and in return he will give you the Pineapple. The bear will also give you some advice on how to get the Walrus out of the way. He tells you to bring Marin over and the Walrus will surely wake up.
Head back through the portal once again and head over to where Marin is by the statue. Once you get there you will notice that Marin is gone. The boy here says that she likes to stare at the ocean. Head west and south to get to the shoreline. Head right to where you originally got your sword at the begining of the game. From here head right two screens, up, right, and down a screen to get to Marin. Head over and talk to her. After a very charming cut scene, you will get Marin. Actually she will just follow behind you.
Head up and lift the rocks and open the chest for some rupees here. Now back track all the way through Maybe Village and through the portal again to get back to Animal Village. Head over to the Walrus and Marin will start to sing. The Walrus will awaken and start to jump around and will eventually jump into the water. A rabbit from the village will come and talk to Marin and she will go to the Animal Village. Head right to enter the Yarna Desert.
Head up three screens to get to a quicksand area. A lanmola can be found here. The lanmola will jump in and out of the quicksand. To defeat lanmola just strike him in the head several times. Be careful not to fall into the middle of the quicksand or you will fall underground into a cave. If you do just head right, then up the stairs, and back left a screen to get back to Lanmola.
After you defeat Lanmola, a key will fall into the Quicksand and fall underneath. Follow it into the cave and grab it to get the Angler Key.
| In the same room where you got the key place a bomb against the wall at the north of the screen. It will reveal a hole that takes you to a room with a heart piece. Grab it and then exit the cave.
|
Head down three screens. Walk around and lift the rocks here to find your 8th Secret Seashell. Now backtrack to the quicksand area and head down two screens. The owl will show up and tells you to go to the Mountain Waterfall. Head back to Animal Village and go through the portal.
| From the portal head right a screen and up a screen. Place a bomb against the cracked wall area. Enter the cave and dash through the crystal blocks and head up a screen. Head down on the other side and then back up on the other side to get to the top-right of this room. There is a bombable wall against wall on the far right. Place a bomb in the corner and head through the passage. Another heart container awaits you here. Grab it and then head back left and down a screen. Dash through the crystal here and push the block to the left. Open the chest to get some more rupees. Back track out of the cave and then head back to the portal once again, but don't go through it.
|
From the portal head up five screens lifting any rocks that are in your way. Head left a screen and then up two more. Lift the rocks along the top area and then head right five screens. Head down the stairs and then head back up on the other part of the screen. Head right two screens to get to the waterfall. Use the Angler Key on the door and it will reveal the 4th dungeon, Angler's Tunnel, but you can't reach it from here.
Head back left two screens. Go around and up the stairs and then head left two more screens. Head up, lift the rocks, and enter the cave here. Defeat the enemies and head right a screen. Push the block up and run over and slice at the crystal and stand in the spot here. Push the block to the right and the other one down. Head down the steps here. Make your way right and up the stairs. Head right a screen and exit the cave. Open the chest for 50 rupees and head back inside. Dash through the crystals and head right. Exit the cave and head right. Head into the cave here. Make your way through the cave to the other exit. Head down and left a screen and talk to man here. You will trade him the pineapple for some hibiscus. Afterward head back through the cave to the other side. Back outside head right two screens and jump off the ledge. Head inside the 4th dungeon, Angler's Tunnel.
From the entrance just head up a screen. You can head left a screen and grab some extra bombs if you need to, but then come back to this room. There are three enemies in here. Remember to use your shield on the spiked beetles to flip them on their backs. The door will open on the right so head through it.
Defeat the enemies in the room to the right and open the chest here to get the compass. Head through the door at the bottom.
Kill the two enemies by the door here. Then use Rocs Feather to jump to the center platform. Open the chest for a small key. Defeat the last enemy and the door will open. Head back up a screen and then go left a screen.
Climb up the stairs here and head right two screens. Climb down the steps and open the chest to get the Dungeon's Stone Beak.
Head back left, up two, right, and up again. Another chest here, open it to get the Dungeon Map. It's really odd that we would get the Map, Compass, and Stone Beak this early in a dungeon, but hey we'll take it.
Head back down and equip Rocs Feather and the Pegasus Boots. Dash jump across the gap and head right. Pull out your bombs and place one next to the cracked block. Once that one is gone push the other block into the water and open the chest for another small key.
Head up two screens and pull out the bombs again. Place a bomb near the cracked block to get it out of the way. Open the chest up for your 3rd small key. Jump over to the floating heart to fill up your hearts. Now we need to backtrack all the way to the compass room. This was the third room of the dungeon.
Head through the locked door on the right. Kill the enemies and then head through the locked door at the top. Just wakl through this room for now as you cannot get the chest just yet. Like before, dash jump over the gap here and head up. Use the key on the block and then push the above block up. Head left a room. Defeat the enemies and a key will fall from theh ceiling, but it will fall right through the hole. Head down a screen and the owl statue will tell you that the glint of the tile will be your guide. Since you have no idea what that meens right now, head down a screne. Jump across the deep water and head left a screen. You can't reach the switch for now so head left another screen. Continue up and defeat the enemies here. It is a bogus chest here so open it if you would like to and then head up a screen. Just skip this room for now and head right. Open the chest for another small key.
Now you need to back track all the way to the room with a locked door. That is the room where you got a small key but it fell through a hole. Open the locked door and head inside to fight the dungeon mini-boss, Cue Ball. The only vulnerable part of Cue Ball is the back of its head (the round area). Since he moves just as fast as you, you need to equip the Pegasus Boots and dash around the room so that you can get behind him. Once you do just dash into his head from there. Repeat this process untill Cue Ball has been defeated. A warp will appear that takes you back to the first room in the dungeon. Grab the fairy that he leaves and head up a screen.
Quickly move up as the blocks will close in on you. Pull out the power bracelet and pull the lever back all the way. Then hurry and head through the door at the left before the blocks close you in.
Defeat the enemies here and the doors will unlock. Before heading though a door, head up the steps and open the chest to get the flippers. Don't mind the flashing blocks here as this puzzle will just open the door above which you don't need to do anymore. Head down a screen. You can now swim through the deep water so head right a screen. Continue right another screen. Before we head down the stairs push the block at the bottom-left down and head down a screen. Dash jump over this gap here and head down once again. Swim over to the chest here and open it up for 50 rupees. Head back up two screens. Since when you push the block it will block your way to the steps so head left and then just come back right. Head down the steps.
Jump onto the platform and head left. Jump into the water here and swim down to grab the small key. Head back right and up the stairs here. Head left two screens and push the block to the left. Head left a screen to get back to this puzzle room.
You need to step on the switches in the correct order to solve the puzzle. The order is the bottom-left, bottom-right, top-left, top-right, and finall the center. You will here the classic puzzle sound and a staircase will appear at the top-right of the screen, head down it. Dodge the falling eye block and head left. In this room you need to trigger the block to fall, then quicky climb the small ladder and jump on top of the rock. From there you need to jump over to the top-left platform and head up the stairs. Head down a screen and open the chest for the Nightmare Key. Head up a screen and jump off the ledge.
Head right and then up along the right side of the water. Swim over to the chest and open it to get some more rupees. Head back down and swim over to the switch. Step on it and head up through the open door. Jump and get the heart to get full power and then unlock the key block and head down the steps here. Swim your way left a screen passed some more Mario like creatures. Defeat the enemies and climb up the stairs here. Head left a screen and use the Nightmare key on the door above. Enter the room and head down the stairs. Jump into the water and swim down a screen and you will confront Angler Fish.
This is one of the easier bosses in this game. The giant fish will move up and down and then occasionally ram against the wall on the left in an attempt to squick Link. After each ram, what looks like ice cubes will fall from the ceiling. Just keep slashing Angler Fish in the light part of its face. Roughly 9 swings should do the trick. Afterwards a heart container will fall to the bottom of the water. Swim over and grab it.
Swim back up and then head up the stairs here. Head up through the door and grab the 4th instrument, the Surf Harp. The screen will turn white and it will say ...BAY.. your road goes into the bay... You will then be at the outside of the dungeon. Four instruments down and four more to go.
