.:A Link to the Past Enemy Guide:.

--Anti-Fairy--
Description - Found in dungeons and caves, Anti-Fairies move around room bouncing off walls. They are usually found in tight spaces and are hard to avoid. If Link gets hit by an Anti-Fairy he loses some health and some magic power as well.
How to Defeat - There is only one item that works against an Anti-Fairy, the Magic Powder. Sprinkle some on the anti-fairy and it will turn into a regular fairy.
--Archer--
Description - These soldiers shoot out arrows at Link. The green ones hide under bushes and are the weakest. The blue ones walk around in the open and try to keep their distance from Link. The red ones are strongest and like the green ones, hide under bushes.
How to Defeat - A wide variety of weapons can be used to defeat these guys. If you are close enough you can use your sword. From a further distance the bow and arrows work. The boomerang can also be used to stun the archers.
--Armos--
Description - First found in the area outside the Eastern Palace. These statues are common enemies throughout the Zelda series. They start off as gray statues. If you move too close to them, the will awaken and turn to a gold color. They move relatively quickly jumping towards Link.
How to Defeat - A few sword strikes will do the job. The boomerang or hookshot can be used to stun them as well.
--Babuusu--
Description - These beetle looking enemies are found in the Ice Palace. They will stay in a hole against the wall and will quickly run across the room to another hole.
How to Defeat - The sword will defeat them pretty easily. The hookshot also works well against these enemies.
--Ball & Chain Trooper--
Description - The first encounter with a Ball & Chain Troooper is in Hyrule Castle while trying to save Princess Zelda. They move quite slowly and stop to sping their chain and throw their ball out at you.
How to Defeat - Quite easy to defeat. The boomerang can be used to stun these enemies. Otherwise simple sword strikes work fine as well. If there are pots lying around the room pick them up and throw them at these troopers.
--Beamos--
Description - These stationary enemies are first found in the Desert Palace and return in other dungeons. They stay in a certain area and move their eye in a counter-clockwise circle. If they come into eye contact with Link they will shoot a large, quick laser that is quite damaging.
How to Defeat - None of the items in Link's inventory harm Beamos at all. Therefore he is best to avoid. Move quickly when you make eye conact to avoid its harsh laser blast.
--Big Octo--
Description - This is the only Big Octo in the game and it is located in the southeast part of Lake Hylia. Once Link gets close Big Octo will explode into a bunch of tiny versions that will disappear shortly.
How to Defeat - There is really no reason to attempt to kill this enemy as it will self destruct. Just be careful of the mini creatures that initially come out after the explosion.
--Bomb Slug--
Description - Found in Misery Mire. Bomb slugs are just as the name states. They are slugs that walk around and drop bombs. They are extremely slow and the bombs are the only thing to worry about.
How to Defeat - Use your boomerang or hookshot to stun them and then go slash at them with your sword. The fire rod is an instant kill if you hit them. Sprinkle some magic powder and thses slugs will turn to slime.
--Bow Wow--
Description - Found in Turtle Rock, these enemies closely resemble an enemy from the Super Mario Brothers franchise. They are chained too a certain location. Once they see Link they will stretch out in his direction. After they make an attack towards Link they move slowly for a short period, allowing Link to get by.
How to Defeat - These enemies cannot be defeated. Just try to avoid being hit, which could be difficult at times.
--Bull Knight--
Description - Once Link moves to close to these knights they will stop and look around. If you have came in eye contact that will dash towards Link. These are basicly the Dark World version of the regular Soldier.
How to Defeat - The sword works well against these enemies. The boomerang and hookshot will stun these enemies. Interesting, using the Ice Rod against them kills them rather than freezes them like it usually does to enemies.
--Buri--
Description - Found mainly in caves and dungeons these enemies have the power to electrocute Link. If Link doesn't hit them immediately they will being to shake and you can see the electricity all around them. Do not stry hitting them with your sword when they are in this state. The red ones are stronger than the blue ones. Once you defeat a red one, it will split into two mini red buris. The mini buris have the same attributes as the big buris.
How to Defeat - The hookshot works best against these enemies. You can keep your distance and hit them at any point, even when they have an electric charge around them. The sword works as well, but not when they are charged up.
--Bush Spider--
Description - These tektite/spider like creatures hide under bushes. Once Link gets close they will get up from under the bush and crawl away and then fall back under their bush. The only possible way they can attack is if
How to Defeat - One swipe with the sword will defeat these enemies. Sprinkle some magic powder on these guys and they will turn to slime.
--Buzzblob--
Description - These enemies are found in a variety of areas in the Light World. If Link strikes Buzzblob with any sword other than the Gold Sword he will be electrocuted.
How to Defeat - Use the boomerang to stun them. After they are stunned youo can safely use your sword. You can also sprinkle some magic powder on them and they will change form and you can then talk to them as well.
--Crow--
Description - Found mostly in outdoor locations around the Light World. These crows will hide on ledges or in trees. When Link gets near they will take off and fly towards Link.
How to Defeat - The boomerang can be used to stun these enemies. You can just use your sword as they fly close and strike them a few times to defeat them as well.
--Cyclops Fish--
Description - These Dark World water creatures will come up from underground and shoot a fireball out at Link. Basically the Dark World version of a Zora.
How to Defeat - They are best avoided but far range items work best against these Cyclops Fish. The Arrows, Fire Rod, and Ice Rod can all kill him easily.
--Daira--
Description - Found in Gargoyles Domain, these enemies are a basic enemy in the Dark World. The Red ones have more health and can shoot fireballs out at Link.
How to Defeat - Just about every weapon works against these guys but to use the boomerang or hookshot to stun them first. Finish them off using the sword.
--Droplet--
Description - Found in Swamp Palace. These water creatures rise from underground and move in a diagnol motion towards Link. They will bounce off walls once but if they run into another wall, an enemy, or Link they will break-up and a new droplet will form in its original location.
How to Defeat - The sword can be used to hit these droplets before they can get to Link. You just need to avoid them and they will kill themselves.
--Eye--
Description - These small flying eyes are very similar to keese. They are found in Hyrule Castle as well as the Dark World. They start off sitting in a particular area but if Link gest close, they will take off and fly yowards him.
How to Defeat - The boomerang will kill them in one hit. The sword works just as well and takes one swipe.
--Eyegore--
Description - Found in dungeons in the Light World. These guys will stay asleep unless Link comes close. At that point they will awaken and run quickly towards Link. Their eye is their only vulnerable spost on their body.
How to Defeat - The green ones can be defeated using your sword when they awaken. Arrows work much better however. Since they move in straight lines they aren't too hard to hit. The red ones must be defeated using your Arrows.
--Freezor--
Description - Found in the Ice Palace. Freezor's will be frozen against the wall. As Link moves clsoe to them they will awaken and move towards Link. The move slowly moving left and right but quickly moving up and down.
How to Defeat - Fire is the only item that hurts these ice fellas. Bombs will get rid of all of them on the screen at once. The fire rod is suggested against each individual freezor.
--Geldarm--
Description - An interesting enemy that rises from underground. Each time your hurt Geldarm, part of its body will break off and bounce around the room. These parts can hurt Link so be careful. Depending on where you hit this enemy and with what weapon a certain number of parts will fall. br>How to Defeat - Several items work against Geldarm, but the sword works best. A few strikes will defeat this simple enemy. A strike to the head can kill it with one hit. The Fire Rod also works well against this enemy.
--Geldman--
Description - These sand creatures appear in the area just outside of the Desert Palace. The climb up from underground and move towards Link.
How to Defeat - The sword works well against these enemies and just a few hits will do them in. The few hits with the boomerang will kill these guys as well.
--Gel--
Description - Found in Dark World dungeons. They appear from underground and jump towards Link. They are fairly easy to defeat and are pretty harmless.
How to Defeat - The sword can be used to defeat this enemy rather easily.
--Ghini--
Description - Found around the Graveyard area in the Light World. These poe like enemies will fly above the graves.
How to Defeat - They are easily avoidable but if you feel the need to defeat them, the hookshot will defeat them in one hit, but just about every items works against them.
--Gibdo--
Description - These mummy type enemies are found in Skull Woods. They just walk vertically and horizontally trying to walk into Link.
How to Defeat - The sword works but it takes quite a lot of swipes with it. Since they are mummies they are wrapped in paper, meaning fire will work well against them. The Fire Rod and Beamos will both kill these guys with one use.
--Gibo--
Description - Found in Gargoyles Domain, these enemies somewhat resemble Anti-Fairies. Two parts make up Gibo. The red portion of its body will move away and the brown part will follow. The brown part is not vulnerable at all.
How to Defeat - You can only hurt Gibo when the red portion is detached from the brown part. Once it is you can use your sword to defeat them. The arrows work from a distance as well.
--Goryia--
Description - These enemies are found in the Dark Palace. They will copy Links moves. The red ones are twice as strong as the green ones. The red ones will also shoot fireballs at Link when they are facing eachother.
How to Defeat - The green ones can be defeated by just using your sword. The preferred way is to use the Bow and Arrow. One direct hit will defeat a Gree Goryia. The red ones will take two hits. Since they shoot fireballs at you when facing you. The key is to shoot an arrow out and then move in the opposite direction so that the Red Goryia moves into the arrow.
--Guard--
Description - Found around Hyrule Castle. These guards will charge at Link immediately when they see him. The sword that is held up can also be used as a shield for them and you must hit them on the other side of their body.
How to Defeat - The sword works best, but stunning them with your boomerang first is very helpful.
--Helmasaur--
Description - The protective helmet on this enemy is quite annoyoing. If you try to attack with your sword it will just push him back. They move pretty quickly simply try to just run into Link.
How to Defeat - Arrows and the Hookshot work best against this guy. Magic powder can be sprinkled on them to turn them into Slime.
--Hinox--
Description - One of the strongest enemies in the game. Hinox has quite a large amount of health. Hinox is armed with bombs that he will toss at Link as well. Hinox will always leave bombs as a reward after they have been defeated. If you freeze or stun Hinox, then he will leave rupees as a reward.
How to Defeat - The sword can defeat Hinox but takes quite a long time. The boomerang or ice rod will stun/freeze cyclops making him much easier to defeat. Use a bomb on Hinox and it will kill him in one hit.
--Keese--
Description - These bats hide out in caves. They do not move unless Link gets close to them. Their only attack is to fly into Link.
How to Defeat - Almost every weapon works aginst these flying creatures. However the best and safest weapon is the boomerang. It kills them in one strike and you can stand far enough where they will not awake.
--Knight--
Description - The most basic soldiers in the game. If Link gets too close, they will charge out towards Link. They charge with their sword of their own which also acts as a shield.
How to Defeat - The boomerang is helpful in stunning them and then finishing them off with a few sword strikes.
--Lancer--
Description - Nearly identicle to the Red Archers, except these are found within Hyrule Castle. These lancers try to keep their distance away from Link and will throw spears at Link.
How to Defeat - You can try to corner them and go in with your sword. The easier strategy is to stun them with your boomerang and then swipe away at them with the sword.
--Lanmola--
Description - These are found only in the swamp area just outside of Misery Mire. They are a mini version of the Lanmola's boss from the Desert Palace. They stay underground and jump up and fly around before going back under. Unlike its larger version these ones do not shoot any rocks and its only attack is to simply run into Link.
How to Defeat - The sword works best against these small Lanmola's. The hookshot can work from a distance as well.
--Leever--
Description - Found in the Desert Palace. Leevers come up from underground and spin their way towards Link. The purple ones are much stronger than the green ones.
How to Defeat - The boomerang can be used to stun these enemies. Once they are stunned they won't be able to go back underground until they are so use your sword to finish them off.
--Lizard--
Description - Found in Gargoyles Domain, these enemies are Dark World counterparts of Mice. They will make quick movements, sit still for a moment and then speed up again.
How to Defeat - The sword and hookshot work best against these easy enemies. Magic Powder will turn these guys into Slime.
--Lynel--
Description - One of the strongest enemies in the entire game. These guys are found in the area between Turtle Rock and Ganon's Castle. There are only three of them in the game. They try to keep their distance from Link and they spit out fireballs.
How to Defeat - Only a few items will be able to harm Lynel. The sword is able to defeat them but it involves Link getting close and it takes several strikes. The Hammer also works but like the sword, it takes several hits as well. The Silver Arrows work best against them. If you don't have them it is suggest you just try to avoid them.
--Medusa--
Description - Medusa appears in almost every part of the Dark World. It will hop around in short and long hops to attack Link.
How to Defeat - Just about every weapon works against Medusa. The sword is the easiest way to take them out quickly. These enemies can be stunned using either the Boomerang or the Hookshot.
--Moblin--
Description - A Classic Zelda enemy makes his return. The moblin is a simple enemy that throws Spears at Link.
How to Defeat - The Swords works best like usual, but nearly every item can be used. The boomerang and hookshot can be used to stun a moblin.
--Moldorm--
Description - These quick moving creatures are found in caves and some dungeons. They move really quickly and waste no time in coming after Link.
How to Defeat - The best options are the sword and the hookshot. Magic powder will turn these enemies into slime creatures.
--Mouse--
Description - Found in the sewers of Hyrule Castle. These mice move quickly, but if defeated usually award out some rupees.
How to Defeat - The boomerang can be used to stun them. The sword will defeat them with one strike.
--Octoroc--
Description - A classic Zelda enemy found in the outdoors of the Light World. They move horizontally and vertically. When they come to a stop they shoot out Rocks in different directions.
How to Defeat - Just about every item works against him. The sword works fine but magic powder can also be used to turn an octoroc to slime.
--Pengator--
Description - This penguins appear in the Ice Palace. They run and dive on the ground sliding on the ice towards Link. THey usually come in large numbers and are pretty fast.
How to Defeat - The sword works against individual ones. They are vulnerable to fire as well. The fire rod works against individual ones as well, but bombos will kill all of them on the screen at the same time. This is useful as they almost always appear in numbers.
--Pickitt--
Description - Pickett is found all throughout the Dark World. If it gets close to Link it will stick its tongue out at Link. If its tongue hits Link it will steal random items from Link such as bombs, arrows, rupees, or even a shield.
How to Defeat - The hookshot can be used to stun pickitt and he can be asily killed with your sword as well.
--Rabbit--
Description - Located outside of the Swamp Palace in the Dark World. Once you defeat the Swamp Palace he will be gone. They will come up from under the grass and jump in the air.
How to Defeat - No need in defeating these enemies but a sword swipe will do the job.
--Raven--
Description - The Dark World version of the Crow. They have nearly the indenticle traits. Ravens will towards Link and are very easy to dodge. They are mainly found on high ledges or are hiding in trees.
How to Defeat - A simple sword strike will defeat a raven. The hookshot works well against ravens as well.
--Reaper--
Description - The Dark World counterpart of a Poe. Reapers haunt the Graveyard area as well as the Village of Outkasts. They usually fly in pattern in a particular area.
How to Defeat - Very easy to avoid as they won't really attack you unless you move towards them. A sword strike or two will easily defeat these enemies.
--Rhinosaur--
Description - These fire breathing enemies are first found in the Tower of Hera. They move pretty slowly but their fire can hurt Link quite a bit.
How to Defeat - The Bow and Arrow works from a distance if you don't want to get close to that fire. However, if you can get close, the sword works just as good.
--Rope--
Description - Found in the depths of Hyrule Castle. They will usually move slowly but once they spot Link they will move very quickly.
How to Defeat - A few swipes with the sword will defeat these enemies pretty easily.
--Scissor Crab--
Description - These crab like enemies are found all around the Light World. They move very quicly when moving left and right but are slow when moving up and down.
How to Defeat - The sword is your best option in defeating the scissor crabs. Magic Powder can be sprinkled on these guys and they will turn to Slime Creatures.
--Serpent--
Description - One of the easier enemies in the game. Serpents are found in Dark World palaces and move relatively slowly.
How to Defeat - A wide variety of items can be used against this enemy. The sword and hookshot are the items that work best against these enemies.
--Skeleton--
Description - Found in dungeons in both the Light and Dark World. The blue ones only attack is to simly run into Link while the red ones will throw bones out at Link if it is threatened.
How to Defeat -
--Skull--
Description - This is just the skull part of the Skeleton. It is found in Turtle Rock. They float around the room moving towards Link. They take quite a bit of shots to defeat.
How to Defeat - The sword works but it isn't the most affective. You need to be close and it takes several hits to defeat. Skull does not recoil after being hit. Long distance weapons such as the Ice and Fire Rod are most effective.
--Skull Rope--
Description - As the name suggests, these are ropes that have skull heads. Found in Gargoyles Domain they appear when Link pulls an incorrect switch.
How to Defeat - The sword works well against these enemies. The hookshot is most effective as you can keep your distance and it takes one hit to defeat. Sprinkle some magic powder on these enemies and they will turn to slime.
--Slime--
Description - Slime never appears in its form alone. Slime only appears after Link sprinkles magic powder against certain enemies. Those enemies include Snapdragon and White Skull
How to Defeat - Extremely easy to defeat and just takes a sword swipe to defeat this slow moving creature.
--Snapdragon--
Description - Found all throughout the Dark World. These enemies move diagonally opening and closing their mouths.
How to Defeat - The sword works fine against these enemies. The boomerang and hookshot can be used to stun them. If you sprinkle some Magic Powder on these plant-like enemies, they will turn to smaller slime like creatures that are even easier to defeat.
--Soldier--
Description - Found in Hyrule Castle. These are the most basic forms of soldiers. They are not as agressive as the knights, guards, and spear soldiers. These ones simply walk around and will not chase after Link.
How to Defeat - The boomerang can be used to stun these enemies, and the sword to finish them off.
--Spear Soldier--
Description - These enemies are found in Hyrule Castle and are nearly identicle to the Knights. The only difference is that rather than having a sword, they carry larger spears. This makes them a little harder to get close to.
How to Defeat - Use the boomerang to stun these enemies and then the sword to finish them off.
--Spider--
Description - Found in the Tower of Hera as well as a few Dark World dungeons. If Link attacks with his sword and hits he will bounce backwards.
How to Defeat - The hookshot will stun spider. Use that and then your sword to defeat this enemy.
--Spideroc--
Description - The Dark World counterpart of Octoroc. Spiderock will shoot small rocks from its mouth.
How to Defeat - The sword works great against Spiderock. The boomerang and hookshot can be used to stun them as well. If Link sprinkles magic powder on this enemy, it will turn to a Slime-like creature.
--Squirrel--
Description - These rock type enemies roam around on Death Mountain. If Link hits them with a sword or any other regular weapon they will turn to a statue for a short period of time.
How to Defeat - There is only one way to defeat these enemies, magic. Sprinkle some magic powder on them or use Quake and they will turn to Slime like creatures.
--Stalfos--
Description - These large skeleton enemies appear in the Ice Palace of the Dark World. They are made of a bunch of bones and when you strike them with your sword their bones will crumble to the floor before reforming a few seconds later. They will hop around the room trying to hit Link.
How to Defeat - They are pretty easy to defeat. Just strike them once with your sword and they will fall to the floor. Plant a bomb on their body and it will kill them.
--Swamola--
Description - These guys are found in the Desert Palace. Like Leevers in the same palace they will stay underground and then come above ground. If you get to close you will get sucked into them. They will shoot fireballs towards Link as well. The red ones are slightly stronger than the blue ones.
How to Defeat - The sword works but if you don't want to get too close, you can use the Ice Rod for an instant kill.
--Tektite--
Description - Found on Death Mountain, these creatures will hop around trying to hit Link. They have a variety of hops with slow high hops as well as quick low hops. The red ones are a bit stronger than the blues ones. If Link tries striking them with his sword they will jump away from him.
How to Defeat - The sword works best from close range. The boomerang will stun them for a very short time as well. Distance weapons can be helpful such as the Ice and Fire Rod if you are having trouble getting close to them.
--Tile--
Description - These are quite annoying and usually come in bunches. Found in dungeons in certain rooms in order to open a locked door Link must remain in the room fighting off tile pieces. They will come up from the ground and fly out at Link.
How to Defeat - As they are moving towards you, move out of the way and they will hit the wall. You can also strike them with your sword as they come close. The Magic Cape or Cane of Byrna can be used here and the tiles will not hurt Link.
--Turtle--
Description - Found in the Dark Palace, these turtles have a protective layer as a shell. Their bellys are the only part of their bodies that can be harmed.
How to Defeat - Use the hammer naer them to flip them over on their backs. At that point a wide variety of items works but the sword works fine. After they are on their back a direct hit with the hammer will kill them in one hit. However if you miss they will flip back to their front side.
--Vulture--
Description - Found in the Desert area of the Light World. These creaures only awaken when Link moves near. They will fly around Link and if Link doesn't move they aren't harming him at all.
How to Defeat - The Bow and Arrow works against these guys. If you get close enough you can use your sword as well.
--Wall Master--
Description - Found in the Skull Woods. These hands will fall from the ceiling and try to grab Link. If they are successful link will be taken to the entrance of the dungeon.
How to Defeat - Your sword can be used to kill them but they are vulnerable to fire, so the fire rod and bombos work well.
--Water Beetle--
Description - Found in the Swamp Palace. These beetles fall from water pipes that are found throughout the entire dungeon. They will fall and swim around on the ground. They are quite easily avoidable.
How to Defeat - The sword will defeat them in one swipe.
--Water Tektite--
Description - First found in the Swamp Palace. These bug type enemies stay above water and try to walk into Link. They will never move onto land. These bugs are pretty slow and move in small segments. Sometimes moving a short distance while other times moving further.
How to Defeat - The sword will get rid of these guys with one swipe.
--White Skull--
Description - These enemies appear as they look just like regular Skull rocks. However, if Link comes in contact with one, it will shake and awaken.
How to Defeat - The sword works fine against White Skull. Also, if you sprinkle some magic powder on this skull, it will turn into Slime.
--Wizzrobe--
Description - First make their appearance in Misery Mire. These guys will appear, shoot a magic beam out at Link and then disappear.
How to Defeat - Once they re-appear quickly move in on them and strike them with your sword.
--Zirro--
Description - Flying enemies that will move towards Link and drop bombs. If Link attempts to slash at Zirro with his sword, he will retreat back.
How to Defeat - The hookshot is the best item against Zirro. The sword can also be used but Zirro is good at dodging sword swipes.
--Zol--
Description - Very similar to Gel. These slime like creatures appear in dungeons and will come up from underground.
How to Defeat - The sword is enough to take care of these simple enemies.
--Zora--
Description - Appear from underwater and shoot fireballs out towards Link. They also appear in numbers in Zora Waterfalls. When appearing from underground in Zora Waterfalls, some shallow waters and stand up. They move really slowly and walk at Link where they are even more vulnerable.
How to Defeat - The sword works if you are close enough to these guys. From a distance the Hookshot and Ice Rod work well.
