What You Always Wanted to Know About Zelda 64 ...and continue to ask us every day by IGN Staff December 23, 1997 - If there is one game that could make or break the future of the N64, it would have to be Nintendo's next Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Anticipation of the game is so great, N64.com's mailbox is literally flooded every day with questions about the sequel to Miyamoto's Super NES / NES classics. To provide answers for all the burning questions you may have, we compiled this listing of recent articles dealing with the game. If there is anything left unanswered in our coverage, don't hesitate to send us an e-mail. But before you hit that red-blinking button to start up your mail program, make sure your question isn't answered by the following two facts: 1.) There is no US release date for Zelda yet. The game is coming out in Japan in April and should arrive in the West a few months later. However, it is also possible that Nintendo will make the game its big Christmas '98 title. We will have to wait and see. 2.) There are two Zelda games coming out for the N64 in the near future. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (commonly referred to as "Zelda 64") will appear on a 256megabit (32MB) cartridge. That's four times the size of Mario 64. But Nintendo is also working on a Zelda game for the 64DD, the optional disk drive add-on (which doesn't have a US date / price yet either). This game doesn't have a name as of yet and is commonly referred to as Zelda DD.
