• The Desert Colossus : One of the older websites still around on the internet today. Desert Colossus was originally started way back in 1999. During most of its early years it went through several host changes and closed down on two seperate occasions. However, The Desert has been back for quite some time now and is better than ever. Just recently a new layout was released and it is quite appealing. With a basic area on the left for news and content and a side bar on the right to list all the sites pages and affiliates. A nice banner with quick links to most of the main pages adds a nice to touch to a well done layout. The site is updated very often as well so there is always something new to look for at the Desert.
The Desert Colossus has a good amount of content as well. Specefic sections that stand out are the game pages for the original Legend of Zelda for the NES. Pages that are well done include an Items Guide as well as a Monsters guide. The depth of their content is what sets them apart. Yes, most sites have the general boss guides, heart containers, etc... but Desert Colossus covers pages that most sites would normally leave out. That is shown in their Legend of Zelda section which has over Sixteen different pages of content for all the game help and information you could need.
When you look online you may come across 10's and 100's of Legend of Zelda websites in all sorts of languages. Some sites set themselves apart with specefic game content, media, providing the best news as soon as it is released, or even a nice looking layout. What truly sets The Desert Colossus apart from many Zelda websites on the internet is their Compendium of Hyrule section. This covers the deep history of the Legend of Zelda series that covers a very wide range of things such as a Timeline, the People of Hyrule, an Atlas of Hyrule, Mysteries, a Bestiary, and much much more. Each of which go into incredible detail. The Desert Colossus has definately made that jump from being a good Zelda website to being one of the best on the net and is a website that I visit quite often.
