Newbie Guide
The Legend of Zelda series was first published with the original title on February 21, 1986 in Japan on the Famitsu (click for more info). It was created by Shigeru Miyamoto, the genius behind it all, and soon released a sequal. The games are set in a fantasy world known as Hyrule, even though there has been numerous other countries (Koholint, Termina, Holodrum, Labrynna, Subrosia, etc). The gameplay is a mix of adventure, role-playing, puzzle solving, and the occasional platform setting.
The games feature a boy named Link always destined to save the princess Zelda and retrieve the Triforce. Zelda is usually kidnapped by Ganon (Ganondorf) and locked away in his caste/dungeon/underworld. This has usually been the same story until later games where the plots take a new turn and develop twists in the game.
Zelda hasn't aways been about the games either, there were other publications/appearances as well. The officials include : a cartoon series, comics/books, and manga. Some fan based would be : Fan Fictions, Art, Hylian Creations(TZC), and ofcourse websites. Now, lets get into the series a bit more detailed...
Spelling
The first big noob mistake is the spelling, now lets go through and get it right.
1. Ganon (not Gannon, even though it was spelled Gannon in the first Zelda, but that was a translation mistake).
2. Rupee (not ruby)
3. Spryte (not the famous drink, sprite).

Another mistake is typing the game name incorrectly. I will list how each is correctly named.

Frequently Asked Questions
The following are numerous questions about the Zelda series.
1. Is Link left handed or right?
Link is left handed. Even though in some comics and cartoons he appears to be right handed.
2. Is Link an elf?
Well, Link's appearance is of an elf. But since it's a fantasy game and not real, he is clearly always Hylian (not Kokiri).
3. In ALttP, Linl's uncle says.."Zelda is your...", but then dies. What the rest? Sister?
According to many sources, he says "Zelda is your destiny". And no it's not his sister!
4. Are the Philips CD-i Zelda games official?
No. Somehow Philips CDi got rights to make three un-official Zelda games.
5. What are some of the cameos that events from the Zelda series has appeared in?
- The Cartoon Series
- Comics/Books/Manga
- Soul Calibur II
- There is more, I will have an actual cameo page soon.
6. If there is only one Ganon, how does he keep reviving himself?
There many numerous theories to this question. In AoL, the only way Ganon can be revided is if the blood of the hero that killed Ganon falls. In the cartoons series, Ganon revided himself through the Magic jar (a giant jar full of his creations, kinda like his own Hell). In OoT, he claims as long as he still has the Triforce of Power, he will escape. Other than these, there isn't any real evidence on how he does it.
7. Who was that little dwarf looking character at the end of AoL gaurding the Triforce of Courage?
Well, a person named Michael Austin sent this question into Nintendo and got the following response:
"The little man at the end of Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link is, many believe, an incarnation of Agahnim. It's difficult to say for certain, though this is widely-accepted as the best explanation."
8. In LoZ, what does the letter that the old lady gives to you say?
Someone else wrote this question to Nintendo and got this reply:
"Please sell my friends some medicine....or else!"
9. Who was the wizard that casted the spell upon Zelda in AoL?
This one is actually more rumor than anything. Some say is Agahnim, some say is the palace boss Carock. Or maybe some spawn of Ganon...
10. Who exactly is Shadow/Dark Link?
Many believe Shadow Link is actually Ganon himself. Dark Link is believed to just be the evil side of Link coming out.
11. Is there a true timeline?
This is not known for certain. Everyone on the net has their own theories (as I do). Sources do say there is one, it just isn't revealed yet.
