The Adventure of Link Included in NES Remix 2

TimothyFebruary 13th, 2014 by Timothy

As you may already know, Nintendo unleashed an exciting new edition of Nintendo Direct revealing brand new 3DS and Wii U titles for 2014. Unfortunately, no new Zelda titles were shown, yet Nintendo has revealed that NES Remix 2, a collection of classic NES titles with brand new challenges, will be released on Wii U. The great news is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will be a part of this new collection!

NES Remix 2 allows the gamer to use Link in Mario-themed levels too with new challenges to overcome and complete the game. You can find another screenshot as well as more details after the jump!

Here’s a portion of the press release from Nintendo of America concerning NES Remix 2:

  • NES Remix 2: This second installment of the mashup of classic Nintendo games features challenges from later NES games like Super Mario Bros. 3Kirby’s Adventure and Metroid. Just like NES Remix, the sequel includes stages from the original games with new challenges, as well as modified stages that introduce new elements. The game is scheduled to be available April 25 for $14.99. Best of all, players can unlock a free bonus game:
  • Super Luigi Bros.: This is a full game based on a challenge from NES Remix. It contains all the levels from the original Super Mario Bros. game, only now it stars Luigi and requires players to navigate familiar levels in an unheard-of way – by running to the left! The game even incorporates Luigi’s signature high jump. It’s a fun new spin on a classic game.

A screenshot with Link highlighted in a Mario-themed level can also be viewed below. In NES Remix 2, Link may be controlled to defeat classic Super Mario enemies like the Hammer Bro creating an entirely new objective for the gamer using our Hylian hero. As stated above, NES Remix 2 releases on April 25th for $14.99!

Will you be purchasing NES Remix 2 for Wii U to play new challenges in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link? Are you interested in using Link through Super Mario levels to complete certain objectives? Let us know what you think below!

    It just seems so wrong

  • Nikki

No, I will not be purchasing NES Remix 2 for the Wii U. I’m not interested in using Link in Super Mario levels, and the Wii U is shared between my mom and me, so I don’t do much with it with buying anything that has to be downloaded onto it(except for the Wii Fit U), so downloading stuff on the Wii U is out of the question.

    • lizalfos

There’s way more to it than Link in Mario levels.

  • fused_shadows

I’m guessing that the first NES Remix did pretty well. :P

  • Auric Brockfeld

I’d rather just play Super Mario Crossover if I wanted to use Link in a Mario game.

  • itsameluigi1290

15 dollahs? PFFFFFFFFFFFT no thanks. *Flies away on magic toast*

    • XTC

If you’d played the 1st one there is a lot of content packed in there. I was humbly surprised. I think it is totally worth it.

      • itsameluigi1290

Oh, really? I didn’t know that. Well, I don’t have any money right now, but when I do I’ll get it. I think they should make a deal for if you get both together, like, $25 instead of $30 or something. :D

        • XTC

That would be cool. Check out some gameplay or intro walkthroughs. Just to get a better idea of what’s in store. I will admit it isn’t for everyone, but I found it highly enjoyable. And a nice game to put in small chunks of time here and there.

          • itsameluigi1290

Well, I DO like the remixed stages… :D

    • YoshiFan101

      magic toast? what?

  • Don

Another NES Remix already? Was the first one THAT popular?

  • Elijah Mowatt-Larssen

I heard the NES Remix was a flop… It’s just a snippet of some NES games, not even the real games! I think it’s a cheap way to promote the virtual console and Nintendo should not be making another one.

    • TheMightyDekuWarrior

“I heard”, “I think” Dude… You’ve got to play the game before you criticize it, buddy! Plus, the game’s like $10, sounds like a good deal.

      • XTC

        Opinions, opinions everywhere.

    • XTC

I really enjoyed the game. It poses an insane level of difficulty while remaining completely manageable content. Yes the full games are not available in NES Remix, but the remixed stages (which are only a small part of the game) are hilariously fun.

  • Duncan Lang

I don’t know why so many people are so negative about NES Remix 2. I never got the first one, but I think it has a very interesting idea with the little mini game feel using NES titles!

    • CrimsonAnna

You should get it. It’s really fun. me and my boyfriend play it together, taking turns.

      • 420SharkIt

Sounds romantic, haha. I’ve never tried the first one either. I saw no use in it when I could just play the orignal games on my NES. Perhaps, I should try it sometime.

People hate on all games before they’ve tried it :P

      • Duncan Lang

Yeah I was thinking about getting the first one when I heard about it, but I think I might just get the second!

  • TheMightyDekuWarrior

Kinda reminds me of Nintendo World Championship…

    • 420SharkIt

Sir. I think you should donate a copy of Nintendo World Championship to me. Preferably the golden version. In return I will give you a thumbs up, on your comment.

      • TheMightyDekuWarrior

Here you go! Enjoy this picture! Now give me that upvote, GIMME GIMME.

        • 420SharkIt

          Thank you kindly :)

        • Shootdatrupee!…

You only got one up vote :O

          • Yepper (the kindly waffle)

            noper, now he has 8+

        • YEPPER (TMDW’s attack dog) :P

hey i had to leave, just wondering how the rest of the ZI attack whent
          P.S. i gave you an upvote :D

          • TheMightyDekuWarrior

I’m going to make up with them all tomorrow. Innocent people were unnecessarily hurt in the process of things. I want to apologize to them about that. We should have been more formal with things, but everything was blown out of proportion anyway. I wasn’t thinking…

    • YoshiFan101

everybody give TMDW upvotes, he wants lots of them.

      • YoshiFan101

        Its working!!!! :D

  • hollander

Don’t know what to think about this….

  • DrPitch

Seems nice, every vintage console could see its major titles bundled in that kind of product, but it brings me to another idea. Zelda will be 30 years old in a few years. Maybe it’s time, with the Wii U possibilities, to actually produce what could be called the ultimate collector’s edition, bringing every single Zelda game into a nice package. Whether it’s a physical or virtual one (could be available as both)

  • Shootdatrupee!…

Now this is a game that could be on smartphones…
Ok fine, everybody will probably hate me now.

    • Yepper (the kindly waffle)

I dont know if i would want it on smartphones, but i dont know if i wouldnt either :P
P.S. even tho i dont troll ON ZD no more, your name is still fun to say :D SHOOTDARUPEE! :D

  • UltimateTankOP

Nice to see Zelda II finally get some recognition. Such an under-appreciated title…

    • TheMightyDekuWarrior

It may not be the best Zelda, but it’s certainly not “bad”. I mean, it’s hard, but that’s the challenge! I guess some people don’t like a challenge…

      • Essence Of The Triforce

I’ve never played it. I’m kinda afraid.

        • OcarinaPlayerOfTime

It’s the dark souls of it’s time. So prepare to die

          • Essence Of The Triforce

            Never played that either!

          • OcarinaPlayerOfTime

okay…. YOUR FREAKING MISSING OUT! It’s a great game. I would highly reccomend it to people that love third person action adventure RPGs with no hand holding whatsoever, and are okay with it being gut wrenchingly difficult. Heck, you can’t even pause it.

          • Essence Of The Triforce

            What console?

          • OcarinaPlayerOfTime

            Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

          • eh

I think that’s what makes the game so great, yes it’s hard as hell but it’s so rewarding when you actually beat the game.

I don’t think people should be deterred from playing the game because of the difficulty, if your really struggling then level up early on to make it a little easier.

          • OcarinaPlayerOfTime

I’m perfectly fine with Dark Souls the way it is, and I’m excited for Dark Souls 2, but this franchise is not for the faint of heart lol

  • XTC

Hecks yes I am going to get NES Remix 2. NES Remix was an amazing game, but 2 has a lot more games that I want to play around with.

  • Link58

  • StationaryBomb

Uh oh Zelda 2 in an NES remix? Well I know where I’m loosing all my lives XD

  • Essence Of The Triforce

Hey, Yepper, have you been to ZI yet?

    • Yepper (the kindly waffle)

hahaha yepper, some of the comment section are torn apart hahahahahahhehehehe >:D

      • Essence Of The Triforce

        Justice has been served…

      • The pirate Tetra

Good job >:) they deserve it!!!

      • YoshiFan101

yepper, pull the trigger on ZI. more than what you’ve already done. once your online at least

  • DarkHylianInterloper
