Zelda Fanart Spotlight – Wind Waker Tribute

KnowleeFebruary 9th, 2013 by Knowlee

Today’s Zelda Fanart Spotlight is on deviantART artist The-Silver-Flame‘s Wind Waker fanart, “Wind Waker Tribute“. This fanart shows Link sailing along the Great Sea in the King of Red Lions. It is a beautiful sunny day for sailing and the wind is gently pushing them along the water as they are headed to their destination. The clouds are shown to be moving above them by following the direction that the air is going. The sunlight can also be seen shining down upon the two characters as well as helping to illuminate what lies beneath the waves.

What a beautiful day for sailing upon the sea…

This picture is very beautiful and it takes me back to the days of when I was playing Wind Waker for the first time. I always loved the idea of sailing upon the seas to get from place to place, granted there were times of boredom in between, but still I loved the idea. Seeing this also makes me eagerly look forward to the HD version of Wind Waker that will be released on the Wii U later on this year. It will be time for me to again relive my memories of this game.

The artist has other Zelda-related fanart located in their gallery. Please go give it a look and let them know what you think of this piece. Also please let us know in the comments section below!

Stay tuned for the next Zelda Fanart Spotlight! Until then!

Wow I never thought of the bottom of the King of Red Lions having anything sticking out like that. xD

If he/it was smooth underneath, the boat would flip extremely easily, trust me, i’ve sailed without remembering to put my centerboard down

      • Midnafan

He’s a boat in a video game, who says logic has to apply? :P besides you’d figure a talking boat would have some other magical features that make real-life parts unnecessary.

    • Midnafan

I think in the game he is. :P

    • Roth

No need to imagine: jump with the camera angled upward. He’s just got a kingly sense of balance.

    • randomperson#5

He is smooth because he’s magical… plus you can see there’s no centerboard when you jump, or on the title screen.

  • Mseevers95

someone has an education in Boat Biology

    • Midnafan

I’m pretty sure there’s another word for that, but whatever. :D

        • Midnafan

cute, but seriously, there are other words for it, considering a boat can’t have “biology” because it’s not alive. so far i’ve got “naval architecture” and maybe “maritime science/design”. :/

          • randomperson#5

when talking about the King of Red Lions, I think biology is appropriate.

  • linkypete

Am I the only one who noticed that the King of Red Lions’ head is too small?

    • Midnafan

      there’s a head there? :/

    • MiniJen

too small? try nonexistent… :/ but other than that, this is pretty

  • w

    tkorl is coo’

  • LinkZeldaLinkZelda

It looks.. So peaceful. And if any of you who work here read this, the LEGO Legend of Zelda hit 10,000 votes on Lego Cuusoo. That means it could be a real set! :)

    • Midnafan

I think they opted out last time because it would require making new molds. I have a feeling it might be a while if another, less expensive-to-make set gets the same amount of votes again. :/

    • Ratchet25

Doesn’t that also mean that they’d be allowed to make a Lego Zelda game? Or is that just with movies?

  • Midnafan

You know, I’ve been on the fence about WWHD since I’ve barely touched the original in the less-than-a-year I’ve had it. I just watched Axle’s discussion video on it, and that was actually the first time I’ve seen screenshots. And you know, while the HD is absolutely breath-taking, I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s just not a big enough difference to bother buying another version of a game I haven’t even finished. And I still very much prefer the original graphics. Besides I would have to buy a Wii U as well. I guess I’ll just wait for Zelda Wii U instead. :D Oh and that’s a really beautiful picture, makes me question again why the hell I’m taking an art class when I can’t draw. -_-

is it just me, or does it say ‘4e’ in the sky, like forever……..
or do i just sound like an idiot?

    • MXV_65

      I see it too!

  • Ordona

The clouds in this are absolutely beautiful. You can almost feel the wind.

  • myzeldalove

I feel as though this image perfectly captures the free, open feeling I never failed to acquire while playing Wind Waker. It immediately made me start humming the Wind Waker start music.
I love this game so much…

  • itsameluigi1290

I can hear the WW title screen music playing right now…

  • Cmaster

I love the clouds and the wind it looks so real, Just like in the game.
