Let’s Play The Legend of Zelda: Lost Isle

Mases HagopianJanuary 13th, 2013 by Mases Hagopian

Over at the Zelda Dungeon YouTube Channel, I’ve recently started uploading a Let’s Play of the Zelda fan game, The Legend of Zelda: Lost Isle. This fan game runs on the Zelda Classic player and you can download the game over at PureZC. It is a traditional top-down view 2D Zelda game and from what I’ve played so far, it’s fantastic.

This series differs greatly from our usual Zelda Walkthroughs that we provide at our YouTube Channel. While Caleb is working incredibly hard on bringing you more videos in the Spirit Tracks Video Walkthrough, my Let’s Play series will hopefully fill your appetite as you wait. Plus, you can download the game and play right alongside me! Go ahead and make the jump to check out Parts 1 and 2 of the Legend of Zelda: Lost Isle playthrough. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to get this on an emulator for the wii?

    • Cmaster

      that would be pretty cool.

    • RawX

Yes, you have to get dosbox then get the dos version of zelda classic then download and place the qst file in the folder on the sd card mount the sd card on dosbox on the wii then run zquest.exe

I’m not sure this particular quest is available, but Zelda Classic is… well, if you have homebrew anyway. You will need a regular keyboard to attach to your wii if you want to play it. I use an app called “Homebrew Browser” — Zelda Classic along with many other legitimate apps can be found there.

im just not all that interested in playing fan games. don’t get me wrong, this looks like he did a lot of work and im sure it’s probably fun, but I dunno. I just can’t get interested.

  • shadowlink13

this beep is WAY more annoying

  • Roflstomp

Will someone here on ZD make a tutorial on how to make a quest? Please?

Hey, as somebody who’s very familiar with ZC, I want to warn you. Depending on which version of Lost Isle and ZC you’re playing with, there’s a chance you might run into a game-breaking bug in level 2. If you do, there’s a workaround, swapping the .qst file for a different one. So if you get stuck with a switch that doesn’t work in level 2, it IS fixable.

That said, it’s great to see Lost Isle getting recognition. While it’s not perfect by any means (the difficulty curve can be brutal at times), it’s one of the better ZC quests (in my opinion, at least), so it’s nice to see it gaining an audience outside of the ZC community.

Thanks for the heads up. I did download the newest version of Zelda Classic and Lost Isle, so hopefully it works. If not, I will search for that quick fix.

This games looks sweat, but not really what I wanted, this game puts Link in an apocalyptic environment right at the beginning, but in most Zelda games, this aspect is only present in the later half of the game, this way you can interact with the world around you and then when it gets destroyed it has more of an impact on you

    • guest-ZeldaBoy

“This games looks sweat” eeewwww! I think you meant sweet.

      • Ratchet25

Lol, sorry about that (that’s what happens when your English teacher is sh*t) you see, I’m not really from around those, huh, English speaking places so pardon me if I made a mistake that made me puke when I realized it

    • Midnafan

yeah, there’s usually a lot more drive to fix things if you fall in love with the way things used to be first. that’s why i like TP’s intro, despite how much everyone complains about how long and boring it is :)

      • Ratchet25

Well at least TP had that bit in Ordon (or Ordan, can’t remember) that was a bit light-hearted

        • Midnafan

i really liked the purpose that served, you got used to and felt for the characters and the children, and then suddenly all hell breaks loose, but at least you have a strong desire to save the characters you now have connections to (which is probably why so many people hate Midna because you don’t get that connection with her at first) everybody complains that TP’s intro was long and boring, especially the goat herding, but i (being a farm girl) was like: “Heck yeah! herdin goats! :P”

  • Midnafan

if i were to download this, how would i get it to play through Zelda Classic without LoZ popping up instead? :/

    • http://www.zeldadungeon.net/ Mases Hagopian

When you first create a brand new record. DONT start the game. Instead, press I think the ‘A’ button and it will have an option to load a custom quest. If you already start a record, that option won’t be there but you’ll just have the option of continuing the regular LoZ quest.

      • Midnafan

thanks so much for that, i had no idea how on earth to load quests! now i just need to work on not dying….

  • toofelttil

    how long is this game?

    • http://www.facebook.com/flameofgrace Chris Farley

It depends how quickly you solve the puzzles, for me it was one of the longest games offered on Zeldaclassic/Purezc. Very dark at times, but a good story.

  • http://www.facebook.com/flameofgrace Chris Farley

I’m excited to see a zeldaclassic game listed on this site. If you got to zeldaclassic or purezc there are many more custom quests that can be downloaded. I prefer Zeldaclassic better, it is easier to navigate and there are many helpful forums there should you get stuck. I highly recommend any quest made by an author known as Freedom.

  • Mseevers95

    I love Mases’ video guides!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004047914984 Krishna Moorthy

    how to open the game?

  • Mseevers95

So the villain of this game is a giant flaming 5 year old playground bully?

    • Shane

You’ll understand more about the villain at the end of the quest.
It’s good to see you are showing off ZC quests, Lost Isle is my favorite and that’s what got me to making my own quest. :D

  • Dude with a problem

Hey everyone, I have a question that might come off as stupid, but I’m not much of a computer person and I can’t find an answer anywhere else: I downloaded Zelda Classic 2.5 for my Mac, seeing screenshots on the website featuring SNES graphics. But when I finished downloading it, I have a program that seems to have only NES graphics. I would prefer to make a game with the SNES graphics. Is there anyway I can change this? Is an SNES style program not downloadable on Macs? Any ideas? Please and thank you or your help!

    • Mangachick14

I have the same problem! Except mine was downloaded on a pc so I don’t think that’s the problem…

  • Zelda is the Bomb!!!

    Must.. get…download…give… download.
