The Wind Waker – A Movie Poster

DaveyDecember 8th, 2012 by Davey

Is there anything you can’t find on Etsy? I would honestly like to know, because it seems that every day we discover something spectacular, original, and just overall creative. Though we’ve seen “movie poster” style fan artwork inspired by video games, and particularly the Zelda series. I would even go as far as saying that some of the fan artwork is much better than official artwork, though both have their respective purposes.

Hit the jump to see what we have in store this time!

Somewhere, this poster is hanging on a proud wall and is visible for all to admire in its physical glory. For some of us, it will just be an arrangement of pixels from the Internet, but surely this will become a part of more people’s lives.

This might be one of the first times I’ve seen The Wind Waker portrayed in a darker sense. The seas are particularly rough, and Link is guided by the bright, full (and particularly large) moon. Though all of the details are given the carefullest attention, the overall simplicity of the idea is beautiful.

And what kind of Etsy product would exist that couldn’t also exist in your home? This print is available on its Etsy page, and you can browse some of the creator’s other work on DirtyGreatPixelsUK’s profile. Though this The Wind Waker print is about $33 (plus shipping), if you have the cash, this might be a perfect gift for a Zelda fan you know, or maybe it can hold a special spot in your own abode.

Unfortunately, I don’t currently have the money to fund such a purchase for myself, but I do enjoy the design. Hopefully it will be available in the future when my wallet is a bit fuller.

What did you think of the poster? Do you think you’ll grab yourself a print? Tell us in the comments!

This is great! I really love how they portrayed this!

  • John

Just wish they would have worked on the lettering a little to make it more Zelda-like, but apart from that it looks awesome. Not only opens the possibility for a Zelda film but also a Wind Waker with more realistic graphics.

  • MsNerrrrrd

One (over-used) word: EPICNESS. The rain looks almost as if it was actually moving in the poster, and the overall design is very well made. Great,… no, awesome job!

  • BeastModeMan97

WAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish it were real!!!!!

  • blueocarina

Wow, it’s beautiful!! Much better than the real movie posters that are out there nowadays.

    • Waker of Winds

I like the posters but this takes it to a whole ‘nother level

  • swornbrother1

    Very LIMBO-esque. Me gustaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • Devan

It would’ve been sweet if the ghost ship was in the distance but you could see through it

    • toonlinkuser

It IS there, but you just can’t see it.

      Wrong game btw.

      • TriforceTrev

No the Ghost Ship is definitely in the Wind Waker. You get a Triforce Chart on it.

What do mean “wrong game”? The ghost ship is in Wind Waker. You get a Triforce Chart there!

      • zombie_eat_flesh

It is in WW. It the only other game it appears in is Phantom Hourglass.

        • toonlinkuser

Wow, I totally forgot about it. Nevermind.

      • Mama Luigi

Um, actually there is a ghost ship in WW. You have to get that ghost ship chart and go through all those rooms.

  • Zelda-May

I love how it says ‘The Wind Waker- A Nintendo game’ :D

  • The Hylian Monolith

    Need I say anything more?
    AMAZING.

  • Blu_Lizalfos

Honestly this looks like what I want the Zelda WiiU game to be like. A little bit darker but with a sense of beauty and really crisp graphics. This is a really amazing poster!

  • CourageBringsSuccess

This is the vibe I got while playing the game.. Fantastic interpretation! This just goes to show that there may very well be something similar in store for future Toon Link games, with new HD technology.

Give us a Wii U re-release of the Wind Waker! Give us Wiimote or Wiimote+ controls, and make the Tingle Tuner into the Gamepad!

  • Lydia Shepherd

Sensational! I have always loved the Wind Waker and I always will!

  • Mseevers95

Just gonna throw it out there:
If Michael Bay somehow gets his hands on the rights to a Zelda movie I am going to rage-quit life itself.

  • Waker of Winds

I love how Windfall is sitting in the distance. I seems more dark and mysterious than usual for a happy rainbowy town. At least, I assume it’s Windfall. It has a lighthouse, and while the Forsaken Fortress had lights, it had multiple (4) ones.

    • zombie_eat_flesh

      It had three.

      • Waker of Winds

        same difference

  • BlackRaven6695

On his way to meet Tetra’s crew after talking with the postman on Greatfish Isle, I observe.

  • Jacob Tasiemski

That looks great!!! this guy should try one for Twilight Princess next!

  • Triforce of Insanity

It’s well drawn, but it’s not TWW-esque at all. TWW was a very bright, colorful game, and this poster is just the opposite.

    • King of Red Lions

Honestly, this is like a “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” type poster. Which is awesome considering that covers don’t need to scream everything at your face. You have the game/movie/etc to do that.

  • The Unicorn Hanger-Outer

Looks awesome. But Mum would never let me get a $33 poster off the internet. EVER.

  • npatoray24

    that is pretty sweet

  • itsameluigi1290

That just sent shivers down my spine. That is how awesome that is!

  • Olimar

wow… Amazing does not describe it

  • http://twitter.com/NaKAhi70 Jehan. Hapasdaskjdha

Really nice clean poster. Not over crowded at all. But it doesn’t feel empty either.

  • ashesofhyrule

Wind Waker actually had a lot of dark themes throughout it than most zelda games; it’s really easy to just chalk it up to one of the more lighthearted games in the series due to the animation, but it was a pretty deep and depressing.

Halfway through the game, you learn that you’ve been sailing over of a kingdom that had to be destroyed to stop evil from conquering the world, the sea itself is filled with leviathans, and Hyrule is washed away completely at the end as the last in the bloodline saw that Hryule’s time was over and that everything connected with it, including Ganon, had to be washed away to give hope for the future as it became clear that Hrule would never endure peace for long. This poster really personifies those themes well.

  • EpicDarkLink

    All of the yes!!!

  • Aaron hill

    very well done
