Zelda Fanart Spotlight- Triforce Obtained

HachiNovember 14th, 2012 by Hachi

Welcome to another Fanart Spotlight, everyone! Today we feature a piece of digital art called “Triforce Obtained” by Tim Bradshaw that mixes old school Legend of Zelda with new.

The artist uses the familiar Wind Waker style in this image, so at first glace it seems like this is a picture of the Hero of Winds. However, it quickly becomes apparent that this is actually the Link from the first game released for the series, The Legend of Zelda.

Set in a retro dungeon drenched in blue, Link is sporting his trademark brown hair and brown undergarments. He holds up a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom above his head, bringing him one step closer to obtaining the power to enter the depths of Death Mountain where Ganon awaits.

This digital work is also animated, capturing the epic and satisfying moment of victory whenever Link obtains one of the eight pieces of the Triforce.

Go see the rest of his artwork over at his DeviantART gallery, as well as leave your thoughts about today’s Fanart spotlight in the comments below!

Me while the image’s animation was still trying to load:

“Oh, hey, that’s a cool picture. I really like the – OH MY GOSH IT MOVES!”

The animation’s great on this, too! It’s very smooth and not so repetitive that you can see when it starts over. The shadows are really astounding, as well: they make it seem almost three-dimensional. I’m very impressed. I love the Wind Waker style, and it’s great to see some artwork of older games. I really love this one.

And I still can’t believe it moves. So awesome.

You just said everything that ran through my head as I looked at this. But I read the description before mine could fully load, so my surprise wan’t as great. Once I saw the full-speed animation, I was pleasantly surprised. It was all slow at first, so I was thinking “Cool. It moves. It’s kinda slow, though…The blinking looks really-Oh, that’s awesome! IT MOVES PROPERLY!” Other than that, you read my mind.

*Howls happily* (Same thing with me. I was looking at the screen, absorbing the Picture and it started moving, I jumped back and started growling then laughed, and Ooohed at the picture!)

  • Nink

very awesome. I want it as a moving computer background! all I play is kings quest so it won’t slow me down too much…

    • L Lawliet

Oh, finally! There’s someone besides me who recognizes the awesomeness that is King’s Quest! Thank you!

  • TheMaverickk

Awesome animation, It really captures the essence of Zelda.

That moment of victory, after hours and hours of slugging it through dungeons, and you finally get your hands on that golden treasure piece.

This is absolutely sweet, gifs for everyone!

  • Ninty

My gosh, this is getting me eager to see the next art style. Who knows when that’ll be though…

  • L Lawliet

Hey, Link! Whenever you pick up an item of importance, you’re supposed to open your mouth for no apparent reason!

    • Hylia

      L Lawliet..?

  • Deku Scrubber

Is there a draft in the room or somethin? Cause his hair is moving for no apparent reason…

    • HachiNuu

That is obviously the draft of epicness radiating from the Triforce!

  • baileygirl99

That’s so cool!!!! It moves!!! AWSOME!!!

  • KidSpy

    *That is so dorky* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Phosphorus

If the draft is from the triforce, then his hat and hair should not be blowing to the right. Also, Link didn’t have a scabbard or hose (leg things). But it looks nice and epic.

  • LemonWicky

Me: *Reading the article* *Scrolls down to picture*
Me: Wow that is real-HOLY CRAP IT’S STIGGIN’ MOVING WTFH!!!
