Limited Edition of Hyrule Historia Limited to 4,000 Copies

TimothyNovember 28th, 2012 by Timothy

A couple of days ago we revealed that the much anticipated Zelda guidebook Hyrule Historia would be releasing, not only in standard form, but also in a limited edition binding as well. Described as a “limited collector’s edition” you would suspect that this special version of Hyrule Historia would be scarcely printed and may only be exclusively sold in certain stores. Well, it turns out that this is the case! Book publisher for Hyrule Historia, Dark Horse, has announced that only 4,000 copies have been reserved for purchasing the limited edition with a mere seven retailers confirmed to be stocking it.

You can find out more details plus where you may place an order for the limited edition Hyrule Historia after the jump!

Dark Horse has given the following description for the limited edition Hyrule Historia:

“Dark Horse Books and Nintendo® team up to bring you the limited collector’s edition of The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, containing an unparalleled collection of historical information on The Legend of Zelda™ franchise.

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia Collector’s Edition is limited to only 4,000 copies and contains an introduction by Shigeru Miyamoto, the full history of the The Legend of Zelda™ franchise and illustrates the official timeline of the The Legend of Zelda™ games.  This stunning hardcover also collects The Legend of Zelda™ manga and never-before-seen concept art, in-depth information on the making of the The Legend of Zelda™ and art by some of the most storied concept artists in video games!”

If you are interested in purchasing this limited edition of Hyrule Historia then be sure to check out one of the stores below which Dark Horse says will be stocking this valuable version of the book.

  • Nintendo World Store
  • Think Geek
  • Things From Another World

  • Amazon.com
  • Barnes & Noble (online)

The limited edition of Hyrule Historia will be released February 12th, 2013 and will retail for $69.99. Featuring a faux-leather cover and gold gilded pages this is an essential purchase not worth missing out on. Remember, this limited edition of Hyrule Historia is only being printed in 4,000 copies so if you really want one you will need to act fast as disappointment cannot be compensated for.

Are you interested in this collector’s edition of Hyrule Historia? Do you think the print limit should be higher? Are there enough features to satisfy the cash you have in your wallet or bank account?

I’m still not paying more for aesthetic upgrades.

  • punkinoodle

I love books. I love Zelda. I was so excited when Hyrule Historia was translated. But 70 dollars is just too much!

  • http://twitter.com/MagicalRamen Rin Okumura

Seems like it will be the normal edition either way…

    • daver

      Just a better cover up

  • Dan

Ordered mine a few days ago from amazon! So happy I got my order in!

  • DarkMachi

3:) Preordered it a couple of days ago, at that time, it wasn’t $70 it was $45~! So finally just used my gift card~! So didn’t cost me a cent!

    • N64 Gamer

The $45 is with the discount.
The retail price is still $70.

  • heatherspeaks493

I pre-ordered from Amazon months ago…only costing me $19.45..I’ll stick with that; I like the green cover better anyway..

  • Windfaller

I preordered it :) When I did it was the same price as the normal Hyrule Historia so HAH. :D

    • Chris

You pre-ordered the normal version then. They won’t make the price as low as the normal version. That would be dumb…

    • Veronica Wheeler

WAAAHH!? Did you go on Amazon.com or another website to do so?

  • Erhnam

    Any place for EU orders?

  • Chris

Hey guys, I live in Canada and I was able to order it from Amazon.ca, not Amazon.com, the limited edition WAS actually available for pre-order for a VERY short time (like 5 or 6 hours), then it became “Unavailable”. The page can’t even be found, yet the order itself is in my cart. I wonder if Amazon.ca will actually sell this, or if it’s ONLY Amazon.com who will sell it. Can Amazon.com sell to Canadian residents??

    • Raphael Gouin

Im canadian and i had to order it from the us (barnes and noble)…monday around 3pm its was already sold out on amazon.com. i didnt check amazon.ca that day but if they did offer it my guess is that they had a very small amount of copies available. if you say it was listed on amazon.ca, its because they do sell to canadian residents otherwise at some point you would have been restrained from completing your pre order (did you pay already?)
those copies they offered were the only ones for the canadian market, if what you say is true. i suggest you check if your order has the right canadian adress filled in and check where it is shipped from and you should have no problem!

    • Dionysian

If you’ve not yet – check your email. In so far as I know, Amazon.ca cancelled all pre-orders.

  • Veronica Wheeler

I looked on Amazon.com and the price was fairly low. But the price for the collectors edition wasn’t posted yet. I would be happy to get back to you when I find out. Just email me :)

I am super excited for this to come out. I llove reading and Zelda so its a win-win

    • Darth_Diclonius

When I bought my collector’s edition it was $45 (after a discount from Amazon). Mind you this was a few days ago.

  • Dionysian

I don’t wish for a higher print limit – to be honest that’s one of the main features for me. I like the look of the cover, sure, but the selling point for me is that it’s limited edition.

    • Andude

Aaaack!!! Don’t say that! Now they’ll now how to hook us into buying it!

  • a link to your mom

too bad i already pre-ordered the regular version. Oh well.

    • Linkfan99

You can still cancel it and get this one instead. If you really want to.

      • http://www.controlpaddesign.com/ TheMaverickk

Except every place that had it listed seems to be sold out already now. So best hold onto that first pre-order.

        • npatoray24

im depressed :/ i went to order it and its sold out on all those

  • itsameluigi1290

    IT’S ONLY 4,000!!!

    George W. Bush: WHAT 4,000?!

  • Hyourinmaru

I got mine pre orded it for on 20 dollars on amazon. Not as much as I thought.

    • slinkycate

That’s not the limited edition one cause I have that one pre-ordered too. The Limited Edition one is brown & isn’t available for pre-order yet. Sorry. You can sign up to be notified when it’s available thoughj.

  • Skulltula

I think I’ll get my Copy from Forbidden Planet. Just been there today and they sold an awesome First 4 Figure Link Statue! Can’t wait to get my hands on the book!

  • Darth_Diclonius

I’m getting a copy of both because I’m a collector like that. Strange though, Amazon no longer lists the price of the Limited Edition version though it was $45 (after a discount) a couple days ago.

    • Majestic 12

I’m getting two copies of each…cause I’m a crazy Zelda fanatic like that o.O

  • Chris

Is it me, or the online stores that will sell this book have NOT made it available for pre-order yet? I mean, on both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca, they are unavailable right now, and Barnes and Noble’s “Pre-order” button is not there, and some listed above just don’t HAVE the book on their website…

      .

  • Raphael Gouin

This article is kind of late since all copies on amazon and barnes and nobles are sold out since monday night. The article published monday made me discover that there would be a limited edition so im grateful for that,

  • Anonymous Waffle

    Wallet…why must you be empty?

    • itsameluigi1290

Looks like someone needs the Giants Wallet :3

      • Majestic 12

        Use the Triforce!

  • FLUDD

I didn’t even know there was a limited edition until it was sold out…

    • FLUDD

And I preorder the regular version 4 months ago… Shouldn’t the people that preordered very early deserve the limited edition?

      • baileygirl99

        I know right!?!

      • Raphael Gouin

You still had a chance. You could have cancelled your first order and pre order the limited edition on monday. Though I still cant help but think that those who succeeded in pre ordering the limited edition (like me =D) are gamer freaks thats checks gaming news everyday( also like me =P).

I checked every website. It’s sold out everywhere. D: I’m incredibly disappointed. I really wanted a collector’s edition.

    • Dark Majora

WAIT ITS SOLD OUT ( dies AGAIN if its really sold out

    • Linkfan99

Look on the bright side, the normal edition has a green cover and more pages.

      • http://medlismessages.blogspot.com/ Heroine of Time

Nah, same amount of pages. That website made a mistake, I think. Barnes and Noble has both listed as the same amount.

        • Linkfan99

Just do a simple google search, “hyrule historia limited edition pages”, it comes up with at least 10 websites saying that it has a few less pages.

          • http://medlismessages.blogspot.com/ Heroine of Time

Yes, I know. I was trying to say that the initial source had the wrong information, and everyone took a cue from them. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s what happened, since other websites have the same amount listed for both. Dunno. But that certainly makes more sense than them taking out pages for the limited edition. Unless… maybe it’s a bigger size, and thus they fit more on one page? Not sure.

      • Majestic 12

        Huh? More pages?? How?

        • Linkfan99

Apparently, the limited edition has 4 (maybe 5 or 6) less pages than the normal version. Nintendo hasn’t explained this yet.

    • MATTLOCKHOLMES
  • Dark Majora

I NEED THAT (dies from not getting it yet)

  • http://www.facebook.com/kyle.clark.967 Kyle Clark

so what is the real difference im getting the regular

  • Linkfan99

Meh, I’ll just get the normal edition. It has more pages anyway.

  • Link_The_Ultimate_Chronomancer

The only reason I would get this is because it is limited edition, ’cause I have a nice collection going, and I know that if I get it later, it will be a lot more than $70. But, you know, can’t have everything. I even like the way the normal one looks better, soo… yeah.

  • Rokan

Alrighty, who wants to make bets as to how many of the 4000 copies went to ebay trolls? I, thankfully, got my preorder in at Things From Another World this morning since their listing was still up (it’s sold out there, now.) It set me back 55 bucks there, but that’ll be heck of a lot cheaper than it’ll eventually be on eBay. I shiver to think what they’ll be selling them for, even more so for the shmucks that buy them for those inflated prices.

  • Pokalink

Wish i could buy it… To bad i dont have money lol

  • sonicandmario21

Wait, it’s sold out on Amazon? Does anyone know if it will become available again? Or has it just no been available yet?

    • Raphael Gouin

the limited edition Is sold out on amazon, barnes and noble and tfaw. the 7 official retailer are listed on dark horse website, there are some in europe. the question is : are all of the 4000 copies (worldwide) gone on pre order? I mean will there ever be copies available in real physical store’s shelves? my guess is no.

  • OOOOOOHHHHHHH

i got it for 35!!!! OOOOHHHHHH it was 52% off on B&N OOOOOHHHHHHH

    • fugeni

B&N doesn’t have a price or a preorder option, does that mean its sold out or not in stock

  • sonicandmario21

Wait, Think Geek hasn’t listed it yet. So that means, there’s still hope!

  • Emma Mix

    WALLET, Y U NO FULL!

  • Driorianos

Augh I want this so bad. I also already paid for my preordered copy……… adfkjadklfjadk;fja this is terrible. I don’t have the money with christmas to upgrade either~! ;____; NINTENDO WHYYYY!!!

  • Ryoka

Well, amazon are out… and so is my wallet.

  • Yoshi182

I am so pissed off with Barnes and Nobles. I pre-ordered it from there and got an email conformation. 3 days later I got an email saying that my order has been cancelled. I called up and they said there is none in the warehouse. Thanks a lot Barnes and Noble. Did anyone else have this problem?

    • Raphael Gouin

What the…when i read your comment my order for the limited edition was still there, now it cancelled by itself too. I had already paid for it. On barnes and noble. How could they say there is none in the warehouse to you, it not even out yet!!! Sent them an email im so fucking upset.

  • itsameluigi1290

Hey guys, amazon and Barnes and Noble have canceled the pre orders on this. Just thought I’d let everyone know.

    • Dionysian

Amazon.ca cancelled all pre-orders (likely because Dark Horse did not allocate them any copies, they just assumed they would get them). B&N cancelled *some* of the pre-orders. Amazon.COM have cancelled none.

      • itsameluigi1290

Oh, okay. So only Canada cancelled them?

  • Veronica Wheeler

well this is freakin dissapointing. I hate the stupid barnes and noble!!

  • Majestic 12

Pre-ordered two copies of each. Screw it!

    • http://profiles.google.com/qcom100 Zachary Hodge

Hey man, any chance of you putting one of the limited editions on eBay? They’re all sold out of preorders by now of course haha. I’d hit up that auction hard.

  • http://profiles.google.com/qcom100 Zachary Hodge

Hey man, I heard you picked up two copies of both the regular and limited editions of Hyrule Historia. Any chance you’d put one of them up on eBay? (They’re all sold out by now of course..) I’d hit up that auction hard.
