Zelda Characters Get Cameos in Scribblenauts Unlimited

BastianOctober 21st, 2012 by Bastian

Scribblenauts is already out for the 3DS, but for the Wii U version it looks like the developers are going all out. They’re including not just Link and Zelda, but Epona and a Goron as well (along with the Mario Bros., Peach, and Yoshi).

But just how will these characters play a part in the unique game? Make the jump for the quote from the developers!

“BURBANK, Calif. – October 17, 2012 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces that its highly anticipated Scribblenauts Unlimited game will feature even more than ever before, with Nintendo themed bonus content. Players can summon dozens of their favorite characters and items from the Mario™ and Legend of Zelda™ franchises exclusively in the Wii U™ version of the game.

Players will delight in producing fantastical and sometimes hilarious interactions between the Mario and Legend of Zelda characters and objects, alongside everyone’s favorite word-wielding Scribblenauts adventurer, Maxwell. Discovered Nintendo characters and objects will behave in the fun and fantastical ways they do in their respective game worlds.

Scribblenauts Unlimited expands upon the best-selling, award-winning video game franchise that challenges players to imagine anything and bring it to life in the game. This latest Scribblenauts installment will feature a huge side-scrolling open world with new, high-definition hand-drawn scenery and objects where players can help Maxwell solve robust puzzles and challenges by creating any object they can imagine.

Created and developed by 5TH Cell, Scribblenauts Unlimited will include all-new features, more exploration and a completely original gaming experience for the Wii U system, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system and PC this November.”

I will be buying that, just so I can mess around with the the Goron.

  • twilit teen JUDE

2 cool games in one? Looking forward to it but will they behave correctly?

  • ET34

In the picture at the top, Link looks right-handed, holding the shield in his left hand.

    • Luam

Just noticed that.. I wonder why

    • Blackbaldrik

I think it switches hands depending on the direction they face so the equipped items are always visible.

Then he’s ambidextrous!!Then again, Link does switch hands depending on the game–notably in Wii TP and SS. It’s not like it would matter if he was right handed all the time anyway.

the zelda character are cool but i am not going to buy scriblenauts

    • Demise

y u thumb him down… He may not like scribblenauts (like me), and may prefer buying one of the missing title in his Zelda collection (unless he has them all) thn buying a completely different game just becaus ethey feature LoZ characters.

  • EOTW

We finally get to see who would win… Link vs. Mario! Let the epic battle ensue!

    • http://medlismessages.blogspot.com/ Heroine of Time

We already have Super Smash Bros. for that. :P

      • EOTW

Yeah, but then Sonic comes along and just messes everything up. I guess Mario just can’t help socking him in the face every time he sees him. Old habits die hard. :D

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-Best/100003863840372 James Best

You have the original Smash Bros. and Melee for that.

except his games right now aren’t grade A material but hey segas doing what they can

          • itsameluigi1290

Generations was good. But I was just joking. I know Sonic’s been doing poorly, but I’ve enjoyed all of his games. ‘Cept for Heroes and Shadow, those were terrible :|

    • Twilli Link

Everyone knows Link would kick Mario’s Butt!

  • http://medlismessages.blogspot.com/ Heroine of Time

I always wanted to be able to summon Zelda characters in Scribblenauts! :D I might actually buy this, just to play around with the LoZ characters.

    • Chest-Opener

Does that mean that there aren’t Zoras? That sucks they even did fat old gorons. no offence to them!

  • MiniJen

Interesting… I’ve never been interested in Scribblenaughts but the promise of Zelda characters is intriguing…. I may end up getting this game before its all over with… Mostly cause Epona looks so cute!!!! XD

  • Zack Patterson

Should of used Fi or Midna instead of a Goron.
    But that’s just my opinion.

    • Demise

Navi AND Fi (AND Midna) AND the goron (AND the Zora). I’d love to see the Kig of Red Lions, though… How would he behave when he would find himself on land for the first time in his life…

      • Cucco Link

I think he would just become his human form.

  • derp

y is it called legend of zelda u play as Zelda u play as link.(Legend of Link)lol

    • Luam

      2 reasons
You can name Link whatever you want, so you can’t be derp if it’s called The legend of Link.
Btw, it was first called Hyrule Fantasy

      • Demise

Start an OoT file. Name Link “Zelda”. Find the first spiritual stone, dodge the guards, and talk with the ugliest Zelda in any 3D LoZ game. “What’s your name?… Zelda?… Strange… Sounds somehow… Familiar….”

Link: Hey rofl, it’s YOUR name, miss!!

        • frgovo

I second the “ugliest Zelda” part.

    • Luam

Forgot the second reason, Shiggy likes the sound of “Zelda”

    • Mr. Resetti

A frequently asked question, Luam provided good reasons but the main reason as to why it is the Legend of Zelda, not Link, is because when Miyamoto created Zelda, he noticed in every game 3 ingredients would always be present, 1.) A protagonist – The character who you play as, 2.) The villain, and 3.) Those who need saving. When Zelda was created, Miyamoto had already made 2 major franchises, Donkey Kong (Named after the Villain) and Mario (named after the hero) so he decided to name his third major title after the people/person in peril – Zelda.

      • Demise

IMO it’s because the first game, “The Legend of Zelda”, sounded more epic, and it WAS about the legend of a certain Zelda. A mystic princess, of an ancient, sacred bloodline, connected with an ancient unspeakable evil, etc. etc. is much more epic than a random hero… Well, he is like, chosen by destiny and all that, but befor ebeign chosen he is just as random as anyone else, contrary to the epic mystic prinsess and all (from whom he learns most about the story in quite a lot of games). After that, it just took after the title: “The Legend of Zelda: Adventure of Link”, etc. If you want to know, “A New Hope” was riginally called “Star Wars” and “The empire Strikes Back” was “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”. This is the main reason.

      Does it matter?

    • frgovo

If you played Skyward Sword you’d know how much Zelda is involved in the legend that is passed to the future generations.

    WooooW so awesome. *-*

Still kind of miffed there aren’t any Metroid cameos. Metroids solve everything, at least according to the Space Pirates.

    • Zelda is the Bomb!!!

Dont listen to Space Pirates. Theyre mean and nasty and greedy!

  • faror

  • The Hylian Monolith

Yay! They used the toon design!
I really enjoyed the original Scribblenauts, but I probably won’t be getting the WiiU(sads) or the 3DS anytime oon, so I won’t play ScribbleNauts Unlimited. But it’s great to see Link, Epona, Zelda, and even a Goron(my favorite race) in the new game. Well, enjoy, you guys…sniff.

ps. Did you know that, with all the amazing possible items, you can’t summon a monolith? It’s sad! Well, at least you can summon God. No, really! Try it. And a Kraken, and radiation (sadfish) and even a haunted house! Burn it to find a coffin, containing a ghost, that will chase everyone but Maxwell! It’s incredible!

    • Blackbaldrik

Might be able to build a Monolith using the item making feature. (=

Also, I look forward to summoning Clownthulhu!

      • The Hylian Monolith

You can do that, too, in the new one? Sweet! I still want to play it… but I still probably won’t… You summon lots of monoliths for me, okay? Just as a for-this-random-stranger-thing. You do it all the time in your average Zelda game.

      • Cucco Link

        Or maybe a monstrous TeddyHydra!

  • Mich

    old :)

  • Blackbaldrik

Nintendo characters, custom item building/scripting, AND the ability to play multiplayer!

I might never stop playing this game. (=

    • Alexlgamer

      I know right

  • Links’friend’scat

    that’s awesome!

  • itsameluigi1290

I wonder if feeding Epona a toast would create a black hole…

  • Neutopia

That’s pretty cool that they’re throwing that in there, I’ve never personally played any of these games before, maybe if I have some extra cash I’ll pick up a copy! :P

  • Amber Evans

Link can kick Mario’s butt anytime

  • Hylia (HEY!)

The ZD team will beat this game..
    WITHOUT Epona.

    Summon a “Talkative Link” …

    • Zelda is the Bomb!!!

      That does not compute

  • Cucco Link

Now I wan’t to get this game DOUBLE the amount I did before! :D
