Skyward Sword Euro Boxart Update

ChristinaFebruary 20th, 2012 by Christina

Skyward Sword was released in Europe on November 18th, 2011 and all copies came with the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary CD. We were warned that this CD would only be available with first-run copies, so any fan that wanted it had to buy it right away.

Today, Nintendo revealed new boxart for the European version of Skyward Sword. It’s actually identical to the Japanese box artwork from the game. Perhaps the bigger difference is that it no longer features the blurb about including the anniversary CD. It seems Europe is moving on from their first-run sales and I expect other regions to follow soon. There is still no word on whether or not this alternative cover artwork image will make it to North America. To see a larger image of the new boxart, make the jump.

Did all of you who live in Europe get your copies of the CD? Do you like the new artwork? Let us know in the comments below!

So to make up for the lack of a CD, they’re changing the box art to more pure awesomeness. XD

  • You-Know-Who

What’s the point? It’s been 3 months, everyone in this website already has the game.

  • Eternal Nocturne

;_; I always thought that the Japanese box art (now Europe’s too) looked so much prettier than the North American one (as always). Although, NA’s is shiny if you bought the limited edition, which is more than enough to make up for it. XD

        I… I loved that. So deep. Makes me wanna cry. ;_;

I am glad i bought it on the day of release then.

Wow! So Europe is getting the Japanese game box art too! I really want to trade in my gold cover for this… but I’m not sure they let you do that, even if you ask NICELY. Oh well, my Golden Wii Remote should make up for the awesomeness of the box art.

  • Neutopia

I much prefer that box to the one that we got in North America aha.

the one that we have is simply the CD/anniversery version box once all of the first edition copies are sold they will change it.

I Personally Think That This Looks Better Than The American Box Art!

So this is sort of like an OoT/MM golden cartage thing.

  • Mr. Link

I got this artwork in the club Nintendo posters! Plus the gold Zelda, its pretty amazing.

Aww. That’s great for Europeans – it’s absolutely beautiful! – but the United States never gets the cool box art, haha. I doubt they’ll release it here. Well, I guess I already got my copy anyway, so who cares…

  • A_LINK_IN_TIME

A game that shines as radiant as ever and this is its best cover art!

Hopefully, the North American, PAL versions, and others follow suit! :D

  • ZeldaPlaya

thats gorgeous.  But the Gold cover is actually just as pretty so at least North Americans don’t get screwed or anything.

  • ZeldaPlaya

Actually, in all honesty, I think the Gold cover is beautiful.  This is nice but its too much going on in one picture.  the other one is much simpler.

  • Mrgaful

I like more the gold one.

  • Grooselander

I saw it yesterday in Spain. It’s really beautiful.

Purchased a golden cover with CD and golden wii-mote, think the first cover may look even nicer with a ‘shiny’ golden print.

  • Vaati

I saw it the other day at a gamestop…..
