Hyrule Historia: Partial Translations Now Available

MasesDecember 20th, 2011 by Mases

Our friends over at History of Hyrule have posted some partial high quality scans of the Hyrule Historia book that is set to release tomorrow in Japan. The book has stirred up a lot of controversy as it is rumored to be a reveal of the Zelda Timeline.

While we don’t have too much information just yet, Beno from the Legends Alliance forums has posted a translation of some of the pages. If you make the jump, you can see the high quality scans as well as Beno’s translation. While there isn’t anything major revealed just yet, this does give us a previous of the level of detail that will be included in the Hyrule Historia book. This particular page focuses around the child ending of Ocarina of Time, as well as some material from Majora’s Mask.

Below is the partial translation of the image you see above…

Twilight Realm and the Hero’s Descendants
Link, the Hero of Time, was victorious and Ganon’s seal was successful. He returned to his original time and met with Princess Zelda, and a different history was spun.

Another History of the Hyrule Kingdom

Period of the Hero of Time (Child Era):

Ocarina of Time:

The Hero of Time’s Return
By rewinding the time of his 7 years sleep with Zelda’s power, Link returned to his original time.
He now went to Hyrule Castle’s courtyard. Princess Zelda was watching Ganondorf as before when they first met.

Notice of the Future
Link told Princess Zelda what will happen in the future. She listened and so to prevent Ganondorf from entering the Sacred Realm, entrusted Link with the Ocarina of Time and instructed him to leave with it.
This time, the back of Link’s hand was shining with the proof of the Triforce of Courage. Finished with the battle with evil from the future world, the hero carried the burden of the secret journey.

Majora’s Mask:

Link’s Departure
Link borrowed Epona from Lon Lon Ranch. And after several months of wandering looking for his past friend Navi, he was lost in a mysterious forest where there was a way to the parallel universe called Termina.

Right side column text:

The Hero’s Return
The place where Link returned was the Temple of Time. The Master Sword remained stuck before the time the Sacred Realm was opened. His friend Navi disappeared into the sky, and Link walked into the new history.

Triforce of Courage
The proof of courage was carried on the back of Link’s hand. Since Ganondorf was sealed away with the Triforce of Power, the Triforce remained with the chosen ones of the Gods.

  • Link and Cuccos

If this doesn't get officially released in the U.S., I'll just get the Japanese version and read History of Hyrule's translations.

    I NEED THAT BOOK!

    • unknownman

      ME TOO!

    • Link and Cuccos

I mean, Beno's translations and whoever is kind enough to translate for the rest of us. :D

      • Icearrows

i give them a pat on the back

    • mkd

I'm just curious, but is this book officially made by nintendo, or by a 3rd party?
If a 3rd party the timeline probably means nothing.

      • linkismyhero

It's on Nintendo's Japanese Zelda 25th Anniversary site. So it must legit stuff?

    • DerpGoron

      Or learn Japanese… XD

  • http://www.zeldadungeon.net/ Darknut_Hunter

O MY FREAKING GODDESS!!!!!!!!!! Must get if it gets US publication!

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/Thareous Thareous

This might be covering confirmations on the timelines' happenings or are mere reminders of those occurrences. I can't really tell.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Thareous Thareous

"The place where Link returned was the Temple of Time. The Master Sword remained stuck before the time the Sacred Realm was opened. His friend Navi disappeared into the sky, and Link walked into the new history."

If they are true, then we least we finally know it was Navi he was searching for between OoT and MM.

      • hero of winds2

        You sure are. :)

      • Franklin

        No

      • Ben

        "Link’s Departure."

"Link borrowed Epona from Lon Lon Ranch. And after several months of wandering looking for his past friend Navi, he was lost in a mysterious forest where there was a way to the parallel universe called Termina."

        This confirms it.

      • Chris

Eh, that seemed pretty obvious all along imo.

  • Miyamoto

What have these publishers done to the timeline? Oh well, I know how to deal with them….

    • Alebiso

      lol

  • hero of winds2

I actually didn't know what happened after Link appeared to Zelda. I mean, I know that they prevented the events of Ocarina of Time from happening, but I didn't know Zelda gave it to Link and asked him to leave.

    • SkywardHero

Same here. But, it's all starting to make sense now.
      :)

    • WiiZeldaFan

That's how he has the Ocarina in MM.

  • MajoraMan

Now I will come forward with my time line theory… oh wait…

  • Error

As of several years ago, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma had stated that the series operates within two timelines, split at the point of Ocarina of Time, with one branch heading to the events in Wind Waker and another to Twilight Princess. However in a recent interview, Aonuma seemingly contradicted that idea.

"All of the games are within one timeline for the entire series, but that timeline is a secret that I cannot reveal," Aonuma told GTTV at the recent Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary concert.

    • correction

Correction, that doesn't mean the time line doesn't fuses with the other after the split up.

      • Gateau

It is theoretically impossible for a split timeline to merge back together.

  • Pit0010

omggg! hope it comes to auss!

  • bradley

I think the Sacred grove in Twilight Princess is where Link departed/returned to/from Termina.

  • JuicieJ

Yeah, this is pretty much everything I already knew from playing the games.

    • WiiZeldaFan

When you play all 16 it begins to make sense.

  • Seth

How much will it cost in North America?

    • daver

First. It will be available in North america?

      • Seth

Haha true, but it'll get around sooner or later…I hope.

  • PikaLink

Explains a bit and adds detail. I really want this. Please translate it to english!!!

  • A_LINK_IN_TIME

    No timeline will be revealed.

  • http:///http://www.zeldadungeon.net/ awsomeMrlink

Why would Link want to search for somebody who always says HEY! LISTEN! WATCH OUT!

    • WiiZeldaFan

Because he can't tell a locked door from a door and a clump of grass from a leever. (Explains why he slashes grass.)

  • rtee

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS? I MEAN EBAY OR PLAY ASIA?

  • fused_shadows

I am excited for a possible release in English of this book. Getting the Japanese one and translating it would just not be the same.

  • misterlink2

OHHH BOOY!!! man i would love to have this!

  • fbarias89

I played Majora's Mask before Skyward Sword and noticed in Skyward that….

Maybe Termina is Hyrule some hundred or thousand years ago before the evil emerged from earth?, because the Hyrule's map in SS looks like Termina:

Lanayru Desert had an ocean in the past that became a sand sea and it's at the left side of the map, like Great Bay in Termina.
Eldin volcano it's at north like Snowpeak. Maybe when the evil rised it made some climate change that made Snowpeak lose it's snowy weather and become a hot volcano and Lanayru became a desert.
And so the Faron Forest is near the Southern Swamp and the unknown forest that fills Termina map at the southeast corner, however maybe by Hylia actions the forest didn't suffer the climate change Eldin and Lanayru regions did.

And another curiosity is that I noticed the Pirate level's walls bottom in Skyward shares a design that looks like the one found in Great Bay Temple.

    • Serina

I noticed this too! My first thought at learning about the sea to the west in Lanayru was "Why does this make the map look so much like Termina?" It's nice to see someone else noticed this too!

  • VanitasXII

Here's my cheering Beno, Mases and whoever else may be attempting to make translations of HH on! I can't wait to see what this book reveals! :D

  • somebody

Wow this better get released in US!!!

  • Charles

This book will be like a party! It will be good to play oot, mm and aaall the games while looking at the book. Like your eyes will go: book, TV, book, TV, book, smile :)

  • Tektite

I really really want this book, I hope that they release it sometime in Canada, I would definitely purchase it. :D

  • Greg A

This Zelda book is the epicest of epicness because I hope it tells you how Ganondorf was born and who the happy mask salesman really is. I believe the happy mask salesman had an aunt that lived with him because his parents had to work hard and couldn't take care of him. His aunt would always make him sit on a pile of masks and stare at him with a creepy smile for 30 minutes each day. She told the happy mask salesman she would lock him up forever if he didn't smile, so he got used to it. When he was 20, he strangely loved how he was stuck with a smile but his aunt died of a sickness and took over her mask selling career. He especially picked up Majora's mask because it would remind him of his aunt.

    • Traveling Goron

Yup, that's exactly how it went down. I mean, if you look at the clues in the game it makes perfect sense. Riiight ;)

  • IronLuca

Ill learn japanese for this if i have to!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003298020387 Gabora

then means that Oracle continues Majora's Series? >:

  • Erielake

Does anyone happen to know how much this book will be going if released in the U.S.?

  • mysteriousLink

I new it! Time doesn't effect the triforce, once your chosen your chosen for good! :D

  • hero’s_shadow
