Reggie Fils-Aime sat down with MTV Multiplayer to talk about the launch of the Nintendo 3DS and he had quite a bit to say about the launch lineup. In particular he had this to say regarding the 3D remake of Ocarina of Time…
This is contrary to the report we made here at Zelda Dungeon just a few days ago which stemmed from an article over at Kotaku. What this now tells us, is that Ocarina of Time 3D won’t be ready by June 2nd, as Kotaku originally reported. It’s also another stamp that GameStop, which was the original source, cannot be trusted for any of their release dates.
Personally, I think what Nintendo is really doing here is just staggering the release of their games. They don’t want to front-load the 3DS with all these games, since gamers simply won’t buy everything. Instead, they want to highlight their third party games, while also releasing three first party titles; Steel Diver, Nintendogs + Cats, and Pilot Wings. After a couple months once some of these games have settled in and several million handhelds are in circulation, Nintendo will start hitting us with some of the big name first-party titles like Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time 3D, and a whole bunch of other titles that are certain to come.
So while this is unfortunate for us Zelda fans, I think it is in the best interest of Nintendo. Be sure to let us know what you think by posting in the comments below!
