Super Zelda Brothers A very fun and interesting fan game has recently hit the net over at NewGrounds. It is the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES, with one huge twist; you can play as many other classic NES characters, including our beloved Link! That’s right, you can storm your way through the Mushroom Kingdom playing as Link, slashing at Goombas, stomping on bullet bills, and tossing your boomerang at koopa troopas. In addition to being able to play as Mario and Link, you can also play as Mega Man, Samus, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, and Bill from Contra.

Link in my opinion is one of the weaker characters in this game. By default Link comes equipped with his hand sword and boomerang and they function just as they do in the original Legend of Zelda. The sword can slash and defeat enemies while the boomerang can stun them in their tracks. When Link gets a mushroom he puts on the white tunic and when he get a fire flower he will get the red tunic and gain the ability to shoot sword beam attacks.

Bill from Contra is probably the best character in this game as just like it was in Contra, the spread shooter just rips through every enemy in the game. Nevertheless, it’s fun to play around with all the classic characters as you make your way through the game. It’s a game that is definitely worth a couple minutes of your time so be sure to head on over to NewGrounds to try it out!
