Several months ago I started up a Zelda Publications page here at Zelda Dungeon. However, with the release of the Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, the project was put on hold… until now.
We now have portions of the first 6 issues of Nintendo Power now online ready to be viewed. What I did is went through the magazines, and found all of the Zelda relevant information and put those pages online. You can view all the Zelda pages for the first 6 issues at our Image Gallery. Alternatively, you can take a look at the Zelda Publications page, which gives basic information about each of the first 6 issues.
Expect new issues of Nintendo Power and eventually other Nintendo Publications, to be put up on our gallery frequently over the coming months. Any Nintendo fan who has been with us since the late 90′s will surely get some nostalgia out of just looking at these old magazines. Back in the day there was no Zelda Dungeon, IGN, or any internet to go to for Nintendo news, but rather, there was Nintendo Power. Are you one of those gamers that use to just reading Nintendo Power? Perhaps you’re a gamer who missed the glory days of Nintendo Power and wonder what all the fuss was about. Maybe your just like me and you jumped on the bandwagon a few years after the magazine started but can still appreciate the old work.
Great stuff, glad to see the gallery's expanding! I love the nostalgia of all these NP issues.
WOW
I love nintendo Power because it shows new Zelda games like the new one for wii a year early. One thing that I think Nintendo should change, put Link as their flagship character.
I subscribed to Nintendo Power, and they gave Spirit Tracks a 9.5! A 9.5!?! It is at least a 32.5!
Oh man, seeing these really brings back the memories… I'd been a subsrciber of Nintendo Power since the first year or so of the publication (not at the beginning though, cause I didn't know about it until a friend showed me them). While I do not care much for what it became in the last 12 years (and stopped subscribing during the late N64/early GCN era), the magazine used to be an incredible source of joy and entertainment. The reviews felt less biased (despite NP actually being published BY Nintendo originally) and they actually COVERED games instead of simply doing quarter-page reviews to fit in as many new games as they could. Mind you, that meant that some games would always fly under the radar, but you might get lucky and learn about one you never knew of in the Classified (codes) or Question sections. They also used to have GOOD comics back then (I think the last decent one was during the SNES era.. Super Metroid, I think), until later they started doing half-assed comics that ended within 2-3 chapters and said "play the game to learn more!" or "read more at blah-blah-blah".
…oh gods, it's just.. memories, man… those were some good times. I was overjoyed to get my latest NP back then. I loved all the content… Truly the Golden Age of gaming, insofar as I'm concerned.
